Quin does not find any traps associated with the trap door, while Lucas notes that the crossbow is of very poor quality. It is been very abused in its life.
Quiller does not find any traps associated with the rock and/or burlap. When he lifts the rock up, he finds a burlap sack containing 25 silver pieces.
The revelation of trap door and the ladder flips a switch in Quin's demeanor. Years of hard living cause his rogue instincts kick in and his jaw tightens as he surveys the situation. Quin does a quick head count before whispering, "Where's everybody else? This was all of yours idea. Hold on a second. Let's let the others catch up."
After a lengthy pause for Quiller, Quin again whispers his contemplations out loud "Well? Seems the rest have changed their minds. We can seal this hatch and go back to the rest or we can go on. Now I hold no predilections against ye old sneak thievery but this isn't really why we're here. However, we've already broken in so we might as well take a look around." suddenly, his choice made, Quin drops a leg into the hole and descends the ladder. Once in the tunnel he moves a few feet down to allow enough room for the other two to follow before pausing to adjust the amount of light his lantern is spilling.
"True and I still would prefer it but now that we've broken the sanctity of the home of who ever lives here I'd rather be pro-active against someone who might have a grievance than reactive. Also if I had known that nobody was going to follow us down here I wouldn't have left our spot on the hill. So what do you say? Up for a little adventure?"
"fine, but so help me, if the shipment is ruined......" Lukas agrees to help scope out the immediate area around the ladder and then will return to the shipment.
Quiller joins Quin, "There has to be an interesting reason for this set up. Who ever heard of anything like this? It's very oddness urges me to trove the answer." He grins, "Maybe there is a poy of gold at the end, eh? But we need to be careful, though the first trap that got me was crude, the next might not be."
Before descending the stairs Quiller does not hear anything coming from the area below. Descending the ladder, Quin and Quiller quickly realize that the hallway is very short. It is only about five feet long before entering a room that measures 20 feet x 25 feet, with the ceiling barely six feet high. The floor is covered with sand, but, otherwise devoid of anything. At the far end of the room is a small wooden door that is about five feet high.
OOC my posting the rest of this week may be somewhat erratic. Work is turning out to be very hectic.
Once Lukas joins him in the tunnel, Quin claps him softly but firmly on a shoulder. "Good! I feel better with you here. I think the wagon will be fine. Besides Max, Moshet, and Khoraj are still up there. I'm starting to get this feeling that any trouble will come from down here so maybe we can head it off." Turning to Quiller he continues to whisper as a mischievous grin sets a twinkle in his eye, "Agreed! Hopefully my hunch is right." Addressing both companions Quin, slipping into his thief mind set, gets serious. "Keep an eye out for a secondary exit. We find one, we seal it off. Even if we don't find another entrance then we'll go up and seal this all off. If we find any body down here we avoid any interaction. We'll try to trap every one or things down here. Then we'll can build a bonfire at the tunnel entrance and smoke 'em out or suffocate them. But first we make sure they're actually hostile. Agreed? "
If everyone agrees Quin moves to the door and begins inspecting it.

OCC: Quiller I'm sure it doesn't need to be said but lets both perception and sleight check everything. Or if the DM prefers maybe I give you a help so you get advantage on perception and you give me help on disarming since my sleight of hand is better. That way there is no confusion about who triggered a trap or who found it. I vote for the second way if possible. I did it the first way this time just to move things along.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I don't think we need to burn anything just yet, but let's check the door, as crude as things are here I doubt there is another entrance, but, ye never now." Quiller whispers softly. "Let me look around the room."
Perception 16 With Quin's help.
OCC we can use Quin's Sleigh-of-Hand for a trap check on the door.
"Quin, if you open the door, when you are ready, I'll make sure anything beyond is properly greeted," Quiller, speaking very softly, grins and hefts his dagger and hand-xbow.

When Quin reaches about 10 feet from the door, Quiller tells him to stop, which he barely does, with his final step causing a pit trap to open in front of him. The pit is about 10 feet deep, with spikes set in the floor. Once the trap is revealed, it is easy to avoid.
There are no other traps found in the room or on the door, which itself is unlocked. Once the door is open, a passage is revealed that extends into darkness. The portion of the hallway that Quin can see is only 4 ft high.

scrap it? or is it saleable?
"Okay," Quiller grins slightly, "this might pay for my scratch. So let's see what is down there," he points to the trap door and then opens it.

When Quiller lifts up the trap door, a ladder is revealed leading down about 8 feet to a hallway.
