This is 'they finally made Rider retire from the field and take an office' campaign....
Looking for:
4 players
People was are RP heavy players
18+ sorry kids this is an adults only game
LGBTQ+ friendly game; PCs and players welcome!
Starting level 3
ALL classes and big 6 basic races accepted; based on homebrew so some races have challenges PM me directly for details
It's a homebrew pantheon for those religious types consult me for like Goddesses and Gods to flesh you cleric or paladin or warlock patron out
Rolled stats only; 4d6 drop the lowest dice reroll 1s once
Starting equipment per class with an additional 200 GP for miscellaneous gear your PC is allowed to use. No magic items or potions to start.
Multi-class possible if it makes narrative sense after 5th level
Alignments: any good, neutral, or lawful but NO evil
Good backstory but a willingness to be flexible to adapt to homebrew world setting. I'd rather you frame your PC with 3 years of adventuring experience than one with a lifetime of experience crammed into 3 levels.
Must be able to post several times per day while in combat but at least twice daily.
GM in US EST time zone; please share yours!!
1 organized day a month where we're ALL online to sort things out!!
Choose a hook your PC will begin as either:
A recruit for a noble house guard
A lesser noble emissary
A member of the religious community assigned to a noble family
A household servant of a noble family
Sell me your hook
Story base...
Think Game of Thrones retelling with a DnD twist. Lots more magic, NO incest or uncontested sexual acts, and WAY more dragons!!
Disclaimer: I am moving cross-country so this is a slow burn recruitment post that might go inactive by me through my moving processes but I fully intend to launch the game October 1!! The vetting process will be rigorous with me trying to find out who's going to be able to post within a timely manner and with RP that's worthy of a collaborative storytelling group. RP is rewarded at my table. I've been on this site for less than two months and have already shut down one game due to inactivity and I'm struggling to run another due to inactivity and loss of players. I'm very keen to make this site work for me as COVID-19 and my job has prevent me from playing a tabletop game for far too long. I am very keen to get a game started that lasts a very long time. My longest running game to date lasted for 15 years, longer than some player's jobs..marriages etc.... If this sounds like you please reply with an app!! I own no content so your character has to be based on whatever is available within the DND Beyond basic package. We will negotiate outside character sheets if possible and we find an easy way to manage them.

Name - Petal Race - Firbolg (or wood elf )
Class - Druid (circle of land)
Backstory/hook - Petals circle have warned that the men in their towers would bring the end of life for many years, but Petal never thought she would see the effects so soon. Now, food is scarce and what once was green is now dry and grey. It was decided that someone must visit the local lords and spread the old gods ways - the adults are stubborn, but the children, they could learn. Petal was the only one brave enough to volunteer and now she is a servant in the employ of a noble house. She knows she must be careful, but she is eager to make a change, seeing the damage these people bring to the land

Think basic DnD setting with a new sweeping religion ousting an existing arcane and nature based faiths with multiple Gods/Goddesses worshiped. Six rival houses clamoring to assume the throne that governs the seven kingdoms and the highest throne over the area kingdoms. ALL brought together by religious warrior of the new faith who's now dying without heirs. There is a council of nine with heads of the six kingdoms, the ruler, and two impartial judges one for the faith the other for the army assembled with 25% of each of the seven kingdoms countrymen creating one large army defending the tenuously united seven kingdoms under one banner and new religion against inside and outside forces.

Tine, pronounced Tina, was born to be a star since she was a child. Her father unknown to her, but her mother would tell her about him while she waited on tables at the tavern. Though throughout the times of telling the stories of her father, his profession always seemed to changed. One year he was an Elven noble who found himself at the tavern because of a rain storm, other takes placed him as an epic Elven warrior on a quest to slay a dragon, but the eventual truth of the matter was he was an Elf who found himself at a tavern and had a fun night that ended up in her birth. Though lately she has been getting bored of telling others stories and wishes to have one of her own.
Hook: Has found herself hired as the musical entertainment for a noble house

Any other questions?
Thats giving me good ideas for something natury and old godsy.
Yeah, just what are common races?
should we pm characters or keep open? Same about questions about gods etc
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I’m definitely interested in an rp-centric campaign with a group that’s in it for the long haul. The information is a bit sparse on stuff like races and the makeup of the continent(s?), so I’ll just be rolling for now to make sure my hat’s been thrown in the lot.
Would love to chat about specifics, if at all possible, so if you’d prefer something closer to a conversation, feel free to direct me to reply here, pm or discord.
PS: If you’re looking for a grittier, more ‘adult’ story, a discord-based campaign (in keeping with the play by post, still), might be a safer bet. I believe the forums try to keep things relatively clean.
Kids belong with other kids at a table. I have never had a successful campaign with mixed age groups of under age and adults, it just flat doesn't work. Adults like being adults and I'm not going to censor adults unless absolutely necessary. I think it's a dangerous game parents play to give their kids free reign on the internet. I did add the notice there would be no incest or uncontested sexual acts like GoT so not really sure your point.
Also I asked for folks to make their PCs backstory short and flexible for that reason I'm not going to lore dump and overwhelm anyone.
Races consist of basic races: humans, elves, and dwarves. Half-orc are a big taboo. Orcs are seen as monstrous and are a enemy of the seven kingdoms. As for tieflings and aasimar they are rare but around. Seven kingdoms are run by a dominate race or mutually beneficial combo of races made by alliances like marriage etc... So, pick a race and a class plug in your stats and spend 200 GP on gear. I'll update you on lore later. Just make a level 3 PC and be flexible for more input later!

Not to be overly PC I don't really see any race as inherently dangerous or bad except orcs... **** those guys.
Dragonborn, Gnomes, and Halflings are allowed. Subraces sure lay it on me and we'll talk.

Hahaha it bleeped out stuff, nice.
Six kingdoms: Elves, humans, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, and dragonborn with the seventh a combination of the six ruling over the six as the seventh kingdom as a centralized government.
Religion they went from polytheism (many gods/goddess) to monotheism ( 1 divine genderless being).
Warlocks ANY packet as described by DnD rules with flexibility to fit in the homebrew world.
Clerics and paladins there is only one recognized church and either you following it in public then practice something else in private or uh death? Death is it. They REALLY want the new religion 'a hundred years strong' to be it for the people.
More revealed later. Please post your PC or PM me if secrecy serves your PC build in some way. So heretical clerics and paladins or you're a half-orc with a hat of disguise... Ha just be flexible.

“I will take responsibility for what I have done. [...] If must fall, I will rise each time a better man.” ― Brandon Sanderson, Oathbringer.
Character Name: Magda Race: Variant Human Feat: Crossbow Expert Class: Warlock Patron: Archfey??? (--Subject to Change--) Level: 3 Pact Boon: Pact of the Chain - Sprite??? (--Subject to Change--) Alignment: Neutral
Background: Village Idiot Feature: Feign Ignorance People generally don't think to ask you what you know and even have disadvantage attempting to find out what you know.
Backstory: When she was still a young girl, Magda was out chasing butterflies and ended up getting lost in the woods. She fell prey to an old hedgewitch named Gertrude who lived in a tiny cottage deep in the woods at the edge of a swamp. Gertrude seeing an opportunity to gain a servant to cook and clean for her, she chained young Magda to the fireplace. Over the years Magda grew up a wild-child living with the grumpy old crone and through her learned a little about magic and nature.
Eventually, Gertrude grew ill and died. Magda did what she could to take care of the old woman to no avail but at least was able to give her a proper burial. For a while, Magda continued to live alone in the cottage but eventually struck out on her own wandering from place to place to taking odd jobs where she could find them, other times she was forced to beg or worse encountering only cruelty and ridicule wherever she went often chased away and pelted with rotting vegetables who laughed at the backward girl and called her the village idiot between taunts. Eventually, Magda settled down in a larger town and found work at an inn as a scullery maid, allowed to sleep in the stables. Magda stayed there for almost a year convinced that her luck had finally changed until she ran afoul of the innkeeper's jealous wife who while her husband was away made accusations and called Magda a cheap trollop as she proceeded to horse-whip the scullery maid bloody. As Magda lay senseless the innkeeper's wife had her brothers pick up the unconscious scullery maid and deposit her in a ditch outside of town. There the four brothers continued to punish Magda for slighting their sister. The four brutally attacked Magda until they left her on death's door in a ditch at the side of the road. Badly beaten and battered Magda came to the attention of a mysterious entity. Barely clinging to life Magda managed to crawl out from the ditch to a place of safety under a nearby tree and there hands shaking managed to stitch herself up as best she could. Her tenacity and will to survived did not go unnoticed as the entity visited her in a dream. With nothing to lose and everything to gain Magda entered into an arcane pact with the creature who would become her Patron and her its servant in exchange for her life and promise of power to come. After that fateful day, Magda found herself in its service traveling from place to place undertaking tasks given her. Mostly small at first but over time these would become more difficult. Most of the time she didn't know or understand the purpose of many of the things she did. She just knew that she had to do them and didn't question but at least her Patron kept its word from time to time rewarding her. Recently her Patron directed her to the home of a noble family to take a position in their household. Magda was a little surprised when the family decided to give her a chance and she became a household servant of the noble family working in the kitchen as a lowly scullery maid.
Appearance: Magda is a slender and petite human female with dark olive skin, deep soulful brown eyes, and a long thick mane of raven-black hair. Her attire is cheap and tattered usually consisting of a faded maroon bodice and an indigo under-bodice with short puffed sleeves while her frock is a dull reddish-brown.
Personality Traits I hide scraps of food and trinkets away in my pockets. I understand that sometimes a little bit of flirting goes a long way. I mean well but have a habit of being impulsive and making poor life decisions. I eat like a pig, have bad manners, and oblivious to etiquette and social expectations. Ideals My time is worth whoever is paying me. Sincerity, there’s no good in pretending to be something I’m not. Live and let live, meddling in the affairs of others only causes trouble. Bonds I am a dreamer and want to be wealthy, and live an easy life. I don't get any respect so its difficult to get anyone to take me seriously. I have a family, but I have no idea where they are. One day, I hope to see them again. Flaws I can't tell the difference between generous people and good people. My sharp tongue often lands me in hot water, so trouble often follows me everywhere I go. A little coin and I'll do anything, I'm a trollop but prefer the word 'tart' as it sounds high class.
Would you like to work on Magda and Petal knowing eachother?
Would you like to work on Magda and Petal knowing eachother?
Sure, I'll send you a PM where we can discuss ideas and not spam up this thread with our chatter if that's alright with you. Although too much planning may be premature as I at least for one am not 100% sure my character Magda will make the final cut or not since there are only like four spots open. But I'm open to discussion. :)
@RiderofRohan86
Please note I found a better portrait to represent my character Magda (see spoiler below). For some reason, I was unable to edit and update my Post #3 above so I thought I'd just include it in this post. Thanks.

Yeah, I didn’t take that to mean pornographic - more dealing with adult themes and requiring a level of maturity
Gilgin Hardhammer - Mountain Dwarf Cleric (Forge Domain) - Icewind Dale
Petal - Forest Gnome Druid (Circle of the Land - Forest) - Unsung Heroes of Embera
That is different, but there was one thing, if you reread...

Question on the 'basic rules' requirement. Would that mean also just the basic rule class specializations as well?
Eg Only Oath of Devotion available for Paladins; Only Champion for Fighter; Life Domain for Cleric; etc.
And just the subraces in the same Basic Rules (linked below)?
Basic Rules
