You do know they have a strong hierarchy. Millennials of enslavement twisted them and turned their hearts to stone. Where dwarfs usually value family ties and honour, duergar value power. You are not aware of any innate fears, but you do remember that most inhabitants of the underdark have superior senses in darkness, but at the expense of being sensitive to sunlight.
Boy is a bit confused first and looks from James to Hifu, but then decides to follow Atikas example and calms down. Another command to the other dogs outside calms them down too.
"We need to leave. Now. James, grab some of the furniture and help us block this door, quickly!" Hifu grabs anything that is within reach to continue to block / jam the door as best he can. He still has his back pack on, he grabs his equipment and runs for the door. "Duergar, too many James, we need to go."

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
James looks between Hifu and the door that he and Gilgin have partially barricaded.
"Wont they just follow us outside? We would have to run, what about the town, what if there are others still here?"
James looks conflicted, not wanting to risk his friends lives, but also not wanting to leave anyone who might still be in the town, to the mercies of such danger.
"How many of them are there?"
James tries to help move more furniture to reinforce the barricade.
DM, would James know much about the Duergar? I'm assuming his knows they exist and are generally evil, but would he know how dangerous they would be?

Gilgin kisses his Warhammer, ready to swing at anyone breaking through the door. ”Yeah, come on Hifu, where’s that dwarven spirit? Never back down!”
In dwarvish he yells at the door,
“Right there pals, we don’t trust you, and you don’ trust us, but this is the only decent shelter with booze for miles. We gonna sit the night out here, and you tell us what happened or is this gonna get messy?”
He pauses for a second, dropping his head and sighing,
“I’m sure yous lot were told plenty of scary stories of my kind, just as we were of yours. Truth is.... things in my life got me thinking recently, and maybe I’m more like you than I’d like to admit. Dug too deep, and if I go back, they’ll treat me just like your forefathers. So what do you say? For the sake of this old outcast, we save the effort, settle down and have a nice peaceful night.”

Kree steps back and takes a seat, waiting for the outcome of the conversation. After Gilgin finishes he'll get up and head to the door, and in Dwarvish continue with...
"Listen, my comrade here isn't wrong. This is the only shelter here that isn't already being used. We were unaware of it's occupancy when we first arrived, but I think we all can rest here and no one has to die. If we open this door, are you going to be calm, or are we going to have an issue?"
Hifu speaks as well in dwarvish, using the others comments to help his attempt, saying “Leave us alone and we will leave you alone, no one has to die in this cold night but we will defend ourselves if we have to. We will leave here and leave this building to you -“

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
There is another bang at the door, but not strong enough to break the barricade, followed by some very colourful insults towards Gilgins mother. You can hear some furniture being moved on the other side of the door.
"Oh that's it. It's on. They're insulting your mother Gilgi, the gloves are off. James, bring something to wedge this door shut. Nyx, prepare to light it up. We will need your help Kree. Anybody have some spikes or pitons?"
Hifu prepares to take out his Warhammer and some oil, sparks are crackling out of his rapid breaths.
Gilgin huffs and puffs, stamping on the spot cursing in Dwarvish. “How dare you! At least my mother never lay with a mindflayer you insolent deranged mutant!”
In common he growls at his friends, “That”s it, Nobody insults my mother! He’s gonna get a big whack in the face!” He turns to the door As he laughs maniacally, swinging his hammer at the door, aiming for where he heard insults from.
Hifu opens the door and throws in a flask of oil, hoping to douse the floor and any duergar that are there. He prompts Nyx to throw in torches to light and then slams the door shut again, bracing it. "Let's burn them up fellas, or let the smoke get to them." He asks for assistance in holding the door shut.
If someone else is up against the door, Hifu goes to get another table to stack up against the door and a chair to stuff underneath and brace it the best that he can. He turns to Gilgin, Nyx, Kree and James and smiles. "Maybe that will hold them. Let's light this candle."

Kree will step back. "You realize once we do this, we need to find another place to hunker down. I highly doubt the people of the town will like that we just lit this place ablaze."
"So long as we douse the place with oil, it should ignite pretty quickly. We could take some broken pieces of wood around and use that for kindling." Kree will say.
After stacking up all the furniture that is available and wedging the door shut, Hifu takes out his oil and spreads it all over the furniture. He takes the lit torch from Nyx and sets it on fire. "Time to go gentlemen. James or Kree, can you set an animal trap right outside the door after we leave? Gather up all belongings, we are going to find another option." Hifu grabs his pack and gear, grabs a javelin on the floor that was thrown at Kree and heads for the door. He pulls Gilgin out with him.

Would Nyx know something that the duergar have innate strong fear of? She's from Underdark herself and should be fairly familiar with such knowledge.

You‘ve put two tables to block the door the last two rounds, you would need to remove them before you can open the door again.
If someone else is up against the door, Hifu goes to get another table to stack up against the door and a chair to stuff underneath and brace it the best that he can. He turns to Gilgin, Nyx, Kree and James and smiles. "Maybe that will hold them. Let's light this candle."
