Gilgin pulls himself up, using Hifu as support, he shouts to the others, “Give it everything you got, before it does any more damage!”

Gilgin Brings down his warhammer with 2 hands on the brain, hoping for the best Attack: 11 Damage: 5

Gilgins swing misses, but the creature screeches confused.

Nyx throws another Eldritch Blast:

Attack: 19 Damage: 6

Grek and Scrol attack with their daggers again while Trex throws his from a bit further away.

3. Attack: 19 Damage: 4

Grek and Scrol jump on the heavily injured monster and stab it until it stops moving and then they stab it a few more times for good measure.

Hifu frees James from the tentacles, and says to Gilgin, "Can you heal, yourself and James?"  He turns to Trek and says "Great work, when we work together!"  
Hifu gives Trek, Grek and Scrol the dragon version of high five, whatever that is.  “Now, let’s rest for a bit, load up this creature and haul it to Speaker Mashtew.  You can speak to him Trek about your proposal.  And Kravek can speak with his lady love, instead of swimming.”

„Like i said, we can be very useful and beneficial for the village.“ Trex replies proudly, while Grek and Scrol hoot in triumph over delivering the finale blow.

James, winces in pain, as Hifu helps him remove the limp tentacle from around his body.

"Well that was a close one."

James nods at the various kobold's, in recognition of their help,

"Thank you, we couldn't have done it without your help."

At Hifu's suggestion to load up and head out, James replies,

"Maybe we can just take a short break so we can tend to our wounds?"

"I'd like to clean this green sludge out of my wounds and stop the bleeding before we head out, if that's ok."

Gilgin collapses on the floor, resting against a rock. “I would love to heal myself and James now, but Dumathoins blessings are running low. Best we can do now could be Have a lil sit down.”

As Gilgin rests he stares into space with a look of surprise, lost in his thoughts.

Hifu takes a short rest and heals, performs a stretching ritual and meditation.  We have lit a couple of torches, sit down where we are.  I retrieve my javelin from the creature.  

After resting, Hifu speaks up with Trek.  "So, Trek.  You are a little unusual for a kobold."  He pauses and turns to Grek and Scrol and says in dragon "You have a good leader.  You should stay with him, he will look out for you."  He turns back to Trek.  "You told us about the hard winter and the creature that made you leave the mountain.  What lead you to become leader of this group?  What are your plans from here?"  

Short Rest: (roll your hitdie here if you use one.)

During the rest, Trex was washing out Greks injury and put wound dressing around it (20 10), while Scrol retrieved the weapons for the three and carefully cut of some of the tentacle spikes. „Grek kill big scarry monster“ he says with a big toothy grin. Once he is done Trex tells him to go downstairs and fetch the others and to bring their belongings up. Scrol nods happily and starts to run off.

Grek answers you in Draconic:

 And he shows you his neatly dressed up injury. 
Trex  reply is a bit more sophisticated: „Well, nothing outstanding, i am just the strongest and smartest among them. I am natural the best choice for this privilege. But tell me, i was observing you all a bit, you didn‘t strike me as well organised as most mercenaries and you are a rather colourful mix, how long have you been going on adventures together?“

James tends to his wounds, carefully using the nearby water to wash them out.

After binding the wounds and putting his armour back in place, James comes over to Hifu and Trex.

"Well other than Hifu, I've not worked with the others until now."

"It was just a lucky happenstance that we where all together and interested in the same job at the same time."

"I've mostly worked on my own or with one or two others, here and there, when the job required it."

James considers Trex,

"You seem more than a little smarter than your companions. From my, admittedly limited, experience with your kind, or second-hand accounts, well, your companions are more the stereotype."

"Have you received extra training, to speak with such sophistication? What's your story?"

As the others praise the Kobolds, Gilgin mutters to himself in the corner, rubbing his amulet.

Trex shrugs his wings helplessly : „There is no special story behind it. Maybe i got blessed somehow, i don‘t know.“

Kravek sits down to rest as the group does. Not feeling to great about slipping in the water, but they were pretty slippery rocks. 

He will move towards Gilgin and sits down. You did great performing like a kobold. he says with a quiet voice so not everyone overhears and turns his head to Gilgin You even went down as quickly as one he pats him on the shoulder and his laugh is a bit louder than his words haha rest now. 

Kravek will use second wind to recover 2 hp. lol another nat1, 3 out of 5 now

"Heh, blessed, I know about that."

James rolls his eyes as he says blessed sarcastically, looking off to an empty space again, like he's looking at someone.

James looks over at Kravek and Gilgin as Kravek laughs.

Seeing Gilgin sitting down rubbing something in his hands, James approaches.

"How you doing Gilgin, that was a nasty attack you took? I really appreciate you, well, literally sticking your neck out for us."

"You have definitely earned my respect."

James looks at Gilgin's hands,

"What have you got there?"

Hifu sits down next to Gilgin as well.  "I'm sorry my friend, for a moment back there I thought we had lost you.  Then you are sitting up spitting in my face!  I thought our plan was going south and was going to get you killed.  I'm glad you are back Gilgin."  Hifu tries to cheer up Gilgin "Perhaps we can go look for some of those gems now?"  He turns and smiles at Gilgin, pulls the pick out of his pack and says "You still have to show me how to use this properly to get the stone to give up its gems, even if it wants to hold onto them.  I can tell you all about felling trees and turning wood, but I know nothing about mining gems."  

"After a bit, I think we should throw that monster on a travois and haul him back to Termalaine and watch Speaker Mashtew's eyes go wide as we tell him the tale.  Trek can have his say.  And Kravek can meet up with his ladyfriend and perhaps do a different kind of swimming'".  Hifu laughs to himself, a strange snorting sound.  

Gilgin chuckles at Kraveks insult as the others come to join him. “Aye, thought I was a gonner there..” 

He takes off his amulet and hands it to James. ”That there, is the symbol of Dumathoin, god of mining. I was a devout servant of his once... but I brought shame upon his name. I thought he’d abandoned me, but here I am.... I shoulda died back there, I was ready to. So Hifu, let’s thank my lord by claiming a bounty he can be proud of eh! The best gems are the deepest - are you all game?” For the first time, a glimmer of hope shines in Gilgins eyes. He speaks without a snort or a chuckle, and with an earnestness unbecoming of the dwarf.

He lowers his voice to talk about Trex ”Now, about the Kobold, I’ve made it clear how little trust I have for him - but as long as they are out of the mines I’m happy.”

James takes the amulet and looks it over, before nodding and handing it back.

"Well I'm glad your god is still looking out for you."

At Gilgin's whispered statement, James reply's

"If we can help him and his clan setup somewhere in or near town, they shouldn't have any reason to come back here."

James takes his own pick out of his pack,

"Is there something special about using this then? You don't just swing the pointy end at the rocks?"

At Hifu's talk about the corpse, James responds,

"We can carry the corpse on my sled...although maybe we can find something to wrap it in, so it doesn't mess up the sled?"

James stands ready to start exploring the various gem veins the group has already spotted.

After a while Scrol returns with three more kobolds. They all carry big bundles of belongings. Two set up several furs to get comfortable on the ground while one of them sets up a small fire in a brazier and Scrol starts cutting pieces of the giant brain after he sniffed at it and licked his bloodied dagger. 18

You remember seeing Gem deposits in the first chamber you entered on this level as well as in the room you encountered the beast in first. You didn‘t see much of the third lvl, so there may be some down there as well.

I retrieve my rope and tie up the monster in a fashion that would make it easier to haul with a sled.  “Let’s look at those gem deposits on this floor Gilgin.  We can also look at the opening of the mine and determine time of day and weather, figure out when it would be best to head back to Termalaine.”
