Lyss, make a persuasion check, with disadvantage since you look like a child and are yelling from a distance while his superior is telling him to get his hands in there and badmouthing his whole generations work ethic to a passing stranger.
Aldrik, after making his quip, had actually continued walking about a dozen paces down the road before seeing his companions stopped. He turns back, eyebrow raised. "What's the hold-up? We definitely wont be let in the casino if you're covered in whatever vile fluid that is. Let the worker do his job."
Cico takes several steps back to give the dungsweepers room to work.
Lyss shouting, Aimee threatening to blast something, Aldrik getting impatient, plus the general cacophony of the street and situation threatens to overwhelm his senses. He's in danger of shutting down and going quiet or lashing out.
He begins to count quietly to himself. Each time he say a number, his right thumb rubs the knuckle of one of his fingers. While he does so, he keeps focused on the dungsweepers and the ooze.
Burt looks around bewildered as Lyss shouts her warning and everyone else backs away. (Did anyone get Aimee that rope?) He glances up at his superior, tugging away at the broom handle, before he digs his hands into the sludge.
“Is…. Is it supposed to burn Ernie?” He asks.
”Burn, ha! That’s what hard work feels like boy, must be your f-“ Ernie looks where Cico is pointing and tumbles backwards all of sudden, looking in horror at the end of the broom, melted as if by acid. “Oh sh- that ain’t no sludge Burt, get out of there.”
The pool of Ooze begins to grow out of the vent, a black sticky pseudopod lunging towards the boy.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As Aimee takes a little bit of extra time getting back into blasting position, Lyss is able to get the jump on the ooze. (Lyss, you beat the ooze in initiative so feel free to post along with anyone else who beats it.)
The ooze is starting to take up a large space above the vent as it bubbles up, almost as if in slow motion you see it lunge towards the young dungsweeper who doesn’t look like he could survive a gentle breeze. Just before it is the older sweeper, scrambling away past Cico’s legs about 10 feet away. The four of you (Cico, Lyss, Aimee, Kerri) are about 20 feet away from the ooze with Aldrik a little down the road, 30ft from the Ooze.
(I’ll roll initiative for the others for expediency and might do the same in future combats, you can all act in any order between you.)
Kerri stays a bit away, clearly looking a bit sick. "Please just dont get close," she says to Lyss and Aimee.

Aimee looks to Kerri and readies her blasting pose and asks,
"Blast it though? Just in case? That should get the broom out!"
"Do not. Blast it," Kerri says, more out of concern someone will get dirty.

Aimee drops the blasting pose and instead asks,

Then looking back to Kerri she winks to show she gets it and says,
"A loooonnnggg rope?"

He begins to count quietly to himself. Each time he say a number, his right thumb rubs the knuckle of one of his fingers. While he does so, he keeps focused on the dungsweepers and the ooze.
Once he gets his senses back under control he notices something he should have seen right away.
He points towards the broom stuck in the ooze.
"I have seen our cesspool at the abbey," Cico says. "It is unpleasant. But I have never seen that happen. Is that normal?"
Anyone following Cico's finger will see that the end of the broom is slowly corroding away.
"You should let go of that."
