Aldrik and Cico charge into the side room before the skeletons are able to react, standing back to back as they make circles around the centre of the room keeping the skeletons backed against the walls.
Round 1
Aldrik makes the first swing, but in his haste he miscalculates the space in the room and isn't able to get enough momentum, the pommel of his sword snagging against the skeletons armour.
Cico meanwhile, stabs the first skeleton he sees splintering it's skull slightly. His kick on the other skeleton completely follows through, crushing its ribcage before meeting its spine, splitting the skeleton in two as bone flies over the room. As he thrusts his palm back at his previous foe, it finds purchase on the chin of the skull, catapulting it up to smash against the ceiling. Both skeletons lie crumpled, lifeless and crushed by Cicos feet.
Seeing Aldriks attack miss, Lyss is able to fire a shot right through his target's eye. The arrow splinters through the back of the skull, but it still stands.. barely. Meanwhile, Aimee goes into blasting mode, though in the suddenness of it all she isn't quite on target, her cackling bolt striking the brick just by the frame.
(Skeletons and Edvord followed up after Kerri's action)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As the bones turn to ash before Aldrik’s feet a shortsword thrusts towards him, gripped by a boney hand.
Attack: 13 Damage: 8
Meanwhile Cico finds himself with two skeletons in his face, thrusting their shortswords desperately at him, seemingly threatened by his quick dispatch of their allies.
Edvord darts in to stab at his brothers attacker, but in his haste to stay clear his thrust falls short. He retreats back out of the room, ready for another go.
Cico dodges away from one attacking skeleton, completely avoiding its blade, only to find himself dodging right onto the point of another skeleton's blade. He winces at the blow but doesn't allow himself time to worry about it now.
Seeing the effectiveness of his hands and feet versus blades on these walking piles of bones, Cico sheaths his shortsword and lashes out at the skeletons.
One closed fist to one of the skeletons attacking him, followed by a round house kick to the other one.
The skeleton excitedly tries to follow through with it’s blade having found an opening against Cico but before it has a chance his fist has pulverised it’s skull and it’s body clatters to the floor. The roundhouse cleaves through it’s ally leaving only one skeleton left. Lyss’s rock swooshes past Aldrik’s ear, narrowly missing the skeleton.
Aldrik’s sword cleaves through the final skeleton, leaving you in a quiet stillness in this strange small room. Now, closer to the alter, you can see that the shining from the eyesockets of the skulls that comprise the altar seem to be a variety of gemstones.
"Nothing we have seen so far has not wanted to kill or maim us," Cico says as Lyss and Aimee get excited about the gemstones. "If they don't spring a trap, they could release something worse."
He looks around the room for any more secret doors/panels.
Perception: 20
"But they could also lead us to how to get out of here. Or to the unicorn."
He makes no move to stop the two from tinkering with the gems.
Cico’s search for another way out of this small chamber comes up fruitless, though there was another door leading out of the room of junk and the ‘gold’ path at the intersection still left unexplored.
The skulls seem pretty well fixed together to make the altar, and wouldn’t be easily removed. The gemstones less so, they seem like they could be easily pried out of the eye sockets. Aimee recognises the gems from some boring geology book back at the temple. A moonstone, a jesper, a carnelian a malachite, blue quartz and an Azurite. There don’t seem to be any manmade traps preventing their removal.
Edvord walks closer and peers at the statute, attempting to see if any of the gemstones or parts of the alter are giving off a magical aura. The man also looks to see if there is a pattern discernible to the gemstones, or any missing elements on the alter.

She leans back out.
Aldrik looks miffed at a nick along his outer sleeve. "My shirt! That's fine silk from Moonshae, you know!"
He whirls his blade up and over, twirling it in his half-handed grip, then smashes it downward more like a poleax than a sword.
