Edvord points to the small bell made of bronze, "I believe this is some sort of magical item, but it could be trapped... Give me a second to try to figure out what it is before we start shoving the contents of this chest into our pockets."
"No, no! They're antagonizing me! They tossed me out AND want to put me in prison! That's just mean, huh Lyss! You agree don't you Cico, Eddie? Oh, you too Aldi!"
Cico unfurls the cloth and a chunky silver key clatters to the floor.
Edvord looks over the bell, it seems to be intact but he can’t quite figure out it’s magical properties without ringing it. He does get a sense that it is a very minor effect though based on the aura.
Edvord looks curiously at Cico. "Maybe you are right, caution has not rewarded us too much in this death labyrinth... maybe it is time for foolhardiness?"
Edvord steps away from the party, stretches his hand really far out from the rest of his body, and rings the bell.
"I'm just saying this now, I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to assist if we keep getting attacked," Kerri says. "So please be cautious if you insist on foolhardiness."
You ring the bell, and no sound comes of it. Aimee is able to scoop up the mimic’s corpse - it already seems to be starting to give off the faint odor of death.
Around the unexplored path to the alley it continues to a dead end to the north. There’s a window at the end looking into a building from the alleyway barred with thick iron bars. On the left hand side, through an open doorway you can see a set of stairs, decorated with a lavish Calishite rug. The steps seem to lead up and over the alleyway where you can see a bridge between the buildings on each side of you.
The rug is indoors, all of the buildings you have entered from the alley seem to have been well decorated and well looked after, even if the decorations were teasing your imminent demise.
The rug feels very soft and expensive, it’s rich geometric patterns are a feast for the eyes. It seems to be glued to steps, which rise 10ft and are 5ft wide. The ceiling slants upwards, climbing with the stairs 8ft above and parallel. Cico sees no evidence of pressure plates or other traps.

"Yes, yes, put you in prison," Cico says to Aimee, distracted by the key.
He bends down and picks it up, putting it in his pouch with the other key, and the coin.
"The ransom note mentioned playing a game. Getting the keys might be how we win."
With one hand in his pouch, knocking the keys and coin together, Cico turns to leave the room but notices Edvord still examining the bell.
"Ring it," Cico says.
Cico then looks back in the pouch at the keys and coins.
(OOC - where the keys the same colour and shape?)
(They were similar, but the one you used to open this Ivory door is made of Ivory, and this one is made of silver)

(Ah yes. I think they already found a silver door somewhere earlier too).
Cico sticks his head back out into the hallway, then back to the others. He raises an eyebrow as he looks at the bell.
"Ready to continue on?" Cico asks as he's already walking out into the hallway.
He follows the hallway past the Minotaur Room and looks to see what's ahead.
If Aimee has got the mimic scooped she'll check out the money in the chest and the bell.
"Woo! Treasure! Why did they put money in a trap? Like, a pile of it!"

"Does a rich piece of rug seem out of place to you?" Cico asks the others. "It seems extravagant in a place where everything is trying to kill us."
He tilts his head to one side.
"Hiding something?"
He steps up the edge of the rug and tries lifting the lip of it to see underneath and looks for any pressure pads or other traps.

Does the rug extend all the way across each stair (eg wall to wall) or is it more like a runner down the middle?
"Seems to me that we made a horrible mistake," Kerri corrects, though it seems more like a chastising herself than anything else.
