"The mistress bids I tell you that Cico has no time for fun, and wishes she and he climb a mountain. She says she is almost sure that you can come with them rather than go to Mr. Mirt if you'd like."
There is a pause and a long sigh,
"The mistress says we will get more pie for the road. A place with sweet pies on the way."
There is another pause the disembodied voice grumbles,
"She is now listing acceptable pies. Please go to her."
----
Outside Aimee says,
"Right! Our secret mission!"
She then just stands there, looking into space and smiling.
Cico watches Aimee for a few moments, not sure what to make of her. But he does appreciate she's able to amuse herself without having to engage in conversation.
"I think we should wait a few more minutes before going," Cico says. "They may not realize what has happened if we just leave."
Cico cocks his head to the side slightly at the appearance of the large crow.
"Hello, bird," Cico finally says.
He then looks over at Lyss and back at the tavern.
"Are they going to be awhile?" Cico asks. He looks up into the sky, seeking the outline of the mountain through the buildings. "How far can your bird travel to carry messages, Aimee?"
Somewhere in the back of Cico's mind there's a conflict over where climbing Mount Waterdeep in search of Hlam with Aimee and Lyss in tow is a good or bad idea, but he compartmentalizes that dilemma off like he does with many unresolvable issues and starts out down the street in the direction of the mountain.
Edvord ignores Havi's the jabs about elven dancing, "Dark forces...? You mean the Reinholdt Trading Company? My father thought it best for me to return... and try to keep my reprobrate brother on a short leash..."The mage nods his head over in Aldrik's direction. "You are right about one thing, the magic they pedalled was mundane... though there is always knowledge available in a library to those who know how to find it." He stops to take a sip of his drink before finishing, "How about yourself? I knew there was always a bit of fricition between you and the Keepers... but I never did figure out the full story."
“So… you are oblivious to your own achievement. A font of knowledge with unfathomable depth preceded your return from that Alley, one from which only whispers were heard before. You have allowed it’s voice to bellow forth, and you don’t even know it. Yes, I grew bored with the offerings at Candlekeep, and I sought out the very thing you awakened. I should not say too much, but should you wish to expand your abilities beyond the restrictions of that dusty library, our master would be greatly enamoured by one who might secure a gift of sorts. One your companions are rumoured to have some knowledge of, or perhaps access. A stone said to house the secrets of this cities. The stone of Golorr.”
Unlike my blustering friends across the bar, I prefer to keep my achievements to myself... However, your offer is intriguing... though unfortunately vague and short on specifics. Assuming there is more than vague promises behind your words, if i were to acquire either knowledge of the stone or the stone itself, where would I find you?"
As Cico, Aimee and Lyss approach Mt Waterdeep from the south a beacon of light shines through the late summer evening twilight, illuminating a cave about 2/3rds of the way up. Sitting atop the mountain is an Eyrie from which Griffons can be seen departing and landing, their golden riders atop.
On the way, Aimee’s crow takes flight, circling around a group of heavily armoured men. A white spray rains down from the crow’s behind on one dashing man with long blonde hair. “Curse you and all your kin!” He wails to the air “My descendants shall forever seek to smite you from this land!”
At the base of the mountain, a path circles around. Judging by the hight it would take half a day to reach the cave above by this path. A steep, arduous climb straight to the cave seems possible, though the incline would take a lot of energy to scale.
"Seems like this Floxin is bad news, given how quickly dear Yagra was ready to break my arms on the mere suspicion of me being with him. I might not be much into lore, but I do know that when something is a "Thing" of a "Name" and that name sounds like some ancient cultist or demigod, it's usually best to keep it out of the grips of ne'er-do-wells... Stone of Golorr, Hand of Melania, Bane of Kelrora, so on so on." Aldrik leans back, satisfied that he's gotten some information. "So this gnome of interest, he have a name? Or should I just look for any short folk with an untoward interest in Ranaer?"

“You’ll surely find him in the temple of Kelemvor if not still splayed across your doorstep. Through some digging my associates have found he went by the name Dalakhar before his fiery demise.”
"Dalakhar. Right. I think the watch scraped him off our threshold already, so to Kelemvor it'll be."Aldrik stands, and gives a nod. "Thank you for your time, Davil. I'll be in touch if we find any leads on your dockyard shooter."
Aldrik rejoins with Edvord and Kerri, ready to relay information (but not to interrupt the end of Eddie's conversation if it's still ongoing).
"Eddie, Kerri. Well, I got some news. Apparently the gnome who was targeted was a fellow named Dalakhar, who was apparently spying on Ranaer Neverember, perhaps on behest of his father. And then there's a rogue named Urstul Floxin, who's shacked up with some nobles in the Sea Ward, hunting for some sort of artifact called the Stone of Golorr. Could be an interesting lead, and something to prevent falling into uncouth hands. This info had a bit of a cost, at least. There's been a series of murders in the Dock Ward, using something Davil Starsong called "bullets". Could be a new technology that we could leverage for the Reinholdt business, if we get our hands on it... and do some good in solving some murders besides."
Aldrik looks to the others. "What did you all find out? Seems like the girls and Cico have begun their way up the mountain. Lots of paths in front of us..."
She slides over a vial of ink. “I apologise for the lack of specifics, though the full extent of power our master can provide are beyond what can be verbalised. You will find me at Kolat Towers, in the southern ward. You will not be able to breach the grounds until you swear your fealty to our master, to the power he grants, and bear his mark with the ink. I will be able to locate you when you have done so and will meet you by the entrance and escort you to our master.”
Cico raises an eyebrow at Aimee.
”I do not think we have time for fun. We must go up the mountain and the others are to visit Mirt.”
A deep, baritone voice whispers into Lyss's ear,
"The mistress bids I tell you that Cico has no time for fun, and wishes she and he climb a mountain. She says she is almost sure that you can come with them rather than go to Mr. Mirt if you'd like."
There is a pause and a long sigh,

Aimee's eyes focus on Cico again,
"Huh? Oh, ya! I'll tell Lyss to tell them!"
Eyes go vacant again, smile remains.
----
Lyss hears the voice whisper again,
"The mistress bids you tell the others of her plan to climb a mountain."
<Kerri! I'm going with Aimee and Cico to climb a mountain, we're getting other pies on the way! See you at home!>
<Bye Aldy, I'm going with Aimee and Cico!>
<Bye Eddy, I'm going with Aimee and Cico!>
Plans relayed, Lyss hops down and heads for the door. "C'mon then Whispers, lead me to Mistress Aimee!"
She'll follow Whispers outside.

Lyss feels a gentle tug on her collar that leads her out to Aimee and Cico.
"Good work Granjul! Say hi to everyone! And be a bird again!"
A large crow appears on Aimee's shoulder.
The crow says in a deep, sonorous baritone,
"Hello."
"Dunno, let me ask!"
She looks at the bird then nods, with a smile, and turns back,
"Pretty far! Why?"
"If we leave, it would be good to send a message of where we are if we have to change course," Cico says.
He looks around the streets, and then remembers their escort.
"I wonder what will happen to our watch guard when we split up?"
Cico then looks back to the mountain.
"We should go while it is day time," Cico says.
"Ah! Good thinking, no problem. Right Granjul!"
She nods in satisfaction at only something she can hear.
"Off we go!"
She then pauses and looks at Cico to lead.

Cico only nods at the mention of pie and keeps moving.
