Wilhelm was lucky to be born into the prosperous and easy life of the upper class. The Westervel family were nobles who were in good favour with the richest and most powerful people in the land. Born second behind Frederick, Wilhelm looked up to his older brother from an early age, his adoration for his sibling rivaled only by his affection for his mother. The term 'Mother's Boy' was one of the few that could anger the otherwise collected youth. This is why, as the siblings got older, and Frederick took a liking to a more debaucherous lifestyle that their quality of living allowed, their parents disapproval steadied Wilhelm, determined to follow a different path.
From early on, Wilhelm's potential was recognized by his parents, and his tutors. He was considered nothing short of a prodigy. His eagerness to learn was matched by his ability to comprehend material that should have been far beyond his years. In dueling, he proved to be more and more of a match for his elder brother as he got older, and, due to his brother's love of alcohol and late nights stunting his own potential, it would not be long before Wilhelm surpassed him. Being told that you are the best does things to ones ego, of course, and Wilhelm is only human. Being sheltered from the outside world and praised for what he might one day, be, Wilhelm started to believe himself above others, and above the extravagant, wasteful lifestyle of his older brother. Making his parents proud, and bringing honour to house Weservel became the sworn conviction of young Wilhelm. Then, something would happen, that would make Wilhelm understand that more than honouring his family, bringing them happiness was more important to him.
Frederick had run away from home after an argument with their parents, leaving only a note of explanation behind. He had been gone for months, and despite hiring the best men possible to track him down, their parents were without their first born son. It had broken Wilhelm's heart to see his mother so mournful, and his father turn to the same addictions that had plagued their now absent son. Wilhelm was conflicted. He knew that his place was at home, with them, continuing his studies, and one day, in Frederick's place, taking on the position of family patriarch. But they were a family fractured without Frederick. He could bring pride to their home, but never could he see them truly smile again, this way. Though conflicted, Wilhelm reached a decision. For the first time since their childhoods, he took after his older brother, leaving home in the middle of the night. He left behind a note, explaining that he would bring his older brother home, so that they may be a happy family again.
Backstory: Growing up in Balder's Gate, Arrila and her family were dedicated worshipers of Lathander. Daughter of an Armor Smith, she learned by watching and eventually doing it as well. She never liked the feeling of doing the actual work, but wearing the armor and testing out her father's handywork was always fun. Her mother, an acolyte, often had to drag her family away from the forge to vist a shrine and pray.
If she liked watching her father, she loved watching the clerics and paladins do their jobs in the temple. It didn't take long for her to approach some of the ones still in training. They pointed her towards an older man. He seemed to chuckle at her over enthusiastic desire to join something on a whime.
Still, Arrilla didnt give up. ((To be continued in a bit))
Class: Ranger (Fey Wanderer if allowed once subclasses are available).
Background: Outlander
Backstory: Having spent his life on the edges of civilization, Treyfusis Carstairs comes to the city of Baldur's Gate after a mysterious incident in or near the Feywild left him in disgrace and many of his fellow rangers shunning him. Trey spent much of the year before the gates closed exploring the floors of many of the city's worst taverns. Once the gates closed, however, and the Flaming Fist began to look for aid and the ranger's reputation was enough to see him forcibly removed from the taverns, sobered up, and given a role to help keep the peace.
Organizations: Emerald Enclave (rank springwarden, circle of initiates); Flaming Fist (rank: fist)
Rina Humbleeye was born and raised in Chult, within the cosmopolitan city of Port Nyanzaru. Her father, an elven explorer from Faerûn and her mother a Chondanthan human raised in Chult shared a life and deep abiding respect for nature. This did not help them financially in the merchant port city and they struggled to make ends meet. At an early age, Rina learned to ride, (dinosaurs of all varieties being commonly ridden in Chult). Her family owned an old ankylosaurus named Thunder Peel. Though no longer in his prime, he was still a fine specimen and Rina sometimes rode him in the races, but never in the "unchained" events.
A flame from Fort Belaurian happened to be in town to meet with some arriving personnel and escort them back to the fort. Seeing Rina in the races, he was struck by the grace and power with which she commanded the dinosaur she rode. He had but a single thought on his mind at that moment: JOUSTING! While Rina was an excellent rider, her mount could no longer maintain the speed he once had.
Following the race, Flame Derek met with the second runner-up and asked if she would be interested in coming to Fort Belaurian to compete in a jousting match there. He was actually a chronic gambler and felt certain she was a lock to win. While initially hesitant, concerned for the well-being of the animals, Derek used Rina's sympathety to his advantage by pointing out that she was ignorant of the actual conditions those dinosaurs live with. He also leaned pretty hard on the fact that there was a cash prize for the winner. On reaching Fort Belaurian, Rina was greeted by the flag of Baldur's Gate waving above the fortified walls. She had mixed feelings about the Flaming Fist. On the one hand, they were clearing out the undead that threatened to overtake all the jungle, but once they were gone, she knew, the Fist would try to expand into the wild parts of Chult and attempt to tame them. While there, she met a guide named Qawasha who she spoke with about these concerns. He had a great insight into the half-elf's motivations and will and told her of the Emerald Enclave, the faction to which he openly belonged and in time she would join.
Riding on horseback for the first time, Rina won several tilts and quickly became a crowd favorite. Derek again thought of the value she could have for him. "You should consider competing in tournaments professionally" he told her. "This place is pretty well stocked with trade goods but there aren't really enough people here to make this a profession." She replied. "Not here," he said "In The Gate." She started at him, expecting him to say more, but finding no more words forthcoming, she began to smile, then burst into laughter. "I'm serious." He said emphatically. "You've got what it takes to be a pro. You said it yourself, your family is in debt to more than one of the merchant princes and with that old rocktsil of yours, you're not going to strike it rich racing."
At this she grew quiet. She felt betrayed, but also a detached shame along with her anger. She hated that she couldn't help her family. Derek, for his harshness, was right. "Great, but how would I even get to Baldur's Gate? It's not like I can afford passage to the Sword Coast." She replied, considering the matter closed. To her surprise, Derek answered her, smiling, "I can get you there for free."
That is how Rina came to be conscripted into the Flaming Fist. A paladin's journey begins not when she takes her oath, but the moment she takes her first step away from home.

Anastasia spent most of her insouciant, carefree youth amidst the nomadic Changeling tribes that populate the undiscovered lands of the Swords Coast, taking little heed of the plights and struggles that might otherwise be evident in a travelling lifestyle. Delegating the small, curved shape of the group’s caravan she spent hours whimsically staring at the vast wilderness as her home, she knew little about the world she occupies - of course, being the youngest in a small band of travellers, she almost needed to find ways to entertain herself. Using her body as an easel, she playfully spent hours honing her abilities, disguising herself among the deep colours of oak trees, splashing bright blotches of the meadowlands, and inscribing two-dimensional depictions of the endless flowers she encountered on her journeys. Much like her simplistic view on nature, she took pleasure in both the joyous and tragic aspects to the personalities the group had accumulated - often taking an exaggerated form of the characters she had met and joyfully mocking the flaws and features of them, she was mischievously given the nickname Nastya. Life was full of wonders and curiosities through the lens of the young Changeling’s eyes, and nothing could stop her from living them out to the fullest.
The first occasion where she remembered her band of a dozen or so travellers making their way to civilisation was of a small oceanside fishing village to the West. It was the first time she had seen the sea. Not quite understanding why her companions had suddenly donned appearances she had never seen before they made it to the walls of the settlement, she was instructed to stay calm and inside the caravan and to assume the form of a Halfling child. Begrudgingly accepting, she waited as her group went out to get supplies. Through the caravan slits she could see the glistening sea. Wonderfully alluring and glinting - it was impossible to resist.
After glancing around, in an act of childlike rebellion, she flit away from the caravan and made her way to the beach. The sand was amazingly soft, and the rushing of the waves were soothing. Gingerly, she dipped her hand into the cool water; it was amazing. Gleefully laughing, she slowly entered until she could barely see above the water. At this moment, the tides seemingly changed - the lakes she had previously encountered were nothing compared to the turbulent water of the ocean. Struggling to stay afloat, she was pulled further and further from the shore. Her last gasp of air and glance at the faraway town was of fear, for the first time, feeling truly lost in the expanse of nature. The sense of being alone was overwhelming, and she dipped below the surface.
Nastya awoke on different, more rocky shore. It was the middle of the night, and the expanse of stars ahead. Coughing saltwater, she picked herself up, salty tears mingling with the taste of brine. She was lost, and she was scared. After wandering for several days, under some stroke of luck, she found a road that led to a small settlement. Her parents had told her to disguise her true form, but she paid no heed to their warnings. Word of a known Changeling spreads like wildfire, and all too soon, a strange man - a Kalashtar - had taken notice. He promised Nastya a family, a purpose, and a home - it was more than the frightened Changeling could turn down. The Kalashtar was a Monk who practiced the Way of the Living Weapon - trained for combat by breaking the physical boundaries, adapting their bodies to their advantage, and a Changeling was unprecedented territory for the Way. After being taught not to hide her true self, Nastya embraced the same occupations that kept her company in her youth - using her skin as an ever-flowing canvas, tattoos swirl on her own skin as she walks, her eyes glinting with the vibrant joy of life. Completing her training at the monastery, she was instructed to use her teachings to instil the Way’s morals into the world - peace through violence is the vow she took, and she made her way to Baldur’s Gate to investigate the Blood War and bring peace, taking up arms with the Flaming Fist.
Character Name: Swordfish (alias, real name classified) Character Race: Variant Human Character Class: Rogue (Swashbuckler) Character Alignment: Neutral Evil (Assuming you may allow evil characters. If not, I can change to Chaotic Neutral.) Character Background: Pirate Character Backstory: Swordfish is a former pirate who is the sole survivor of his crew. His father, Edwin Fairwind, is an admiral of the Neverwinter Navy. Swordfish declined the family tradition of enlisting into the navy and had gone astray and became a pirate instead. The ship's crew were known as The Bloodsail and their Captain was a vampire and his alias being Thresher. (A vampirate) The crew operated mostly at night due to his vampirism and would be active during the day in which Swordfish would be in charge as the first mate.
Swordfish's criminal demeanor had disgusted his father, and Edwin disowned his son as he deemed him too far gone. Many years later, Edwin found the pirate crew and ordered their execution. The battle entailed the pirates being slaughtered, Captain Thresher being abducted, and Swordfish miraculously surviving the onslaught. He was appalled that his father ordered the attack, as he felt he had leverage since he was blood related. Swordfish harbors a sense of vengeance and is determined to one day form his own pirate crew.
Swordfish is assumed to be dead by not only the Neverwinter Navy, but to any other pirates that he and his crew have wronged. Therefore, this has given Swordfish the opportunity to start anew and pursue other interests as he waits for his notoriety to dwindle. Swordfish has traveled along the Sword Coast and has landed in Baldur's Gate, in which his past can't truly escape him. He was ousted by the Flaming Fist, but they decided to use his particular set of skills for their own benefit instead of arresting him. Swordfish being stuck between a rock and a hard place, has no choice but to comply.

Name: Elemvira Corto aka El
Race: Wood Elf
Class: Cleric (Life)
Background: Outlander
Backstory: El spent her early years in an elven city with her parents living a normal childhood. She learned elven basics of fighting and some additional training in armor, along with the long and boring history (in her opinion) of the elves. But as she grew up, she became more and more bored with the city life she lived in general, and decided to pack up and explore the wilds. Living on her own, she fell in love with the beauty of the wilderness and the life around her. Meeting others who loved the land, she found a holy place of Eldath, and became a follower after finding a kinship in the beliefs of her priests.
El spent years in the wilds, discovering a love of helping those she found on her travels, patching up injuries and helping them find their way. She thought she had found her calling until she heard word of a town being overrun by bandits and thieves. This wasn’t unusual in the wilds, so she went to go help in the aftermath as usual. But when she got there, the attackers were still there. They had all the valuables, and were just hurting the innocents for fun. She felt such protectiveness for these people, and anger at these savages, that she asked her goddess to help her find a way to stop this.
The goddess answered this heartfelt plea by giving her a gift to heal those she deemed worthy and to punish anyone who had attacked those under Elemvira’s protection. Finding discarded weapons and armor, El managed to heal enough soldiers in the town and arm them to lead a surprise attack on the bandits at night, and drove them off.
El didn’t care for fighting, but her goddess had been searching her followers for someone who cared for people enough to fight for them. She sent Elemvira visions of a coming trouble that started in the city of Baldur’s Gate, so El put on her new armor, took a few weapons, and set off to hopefully stop this coming disaster.

Character Name: Swordfish (alias, real name classified)
Character Race: Variant Human
Character Class: Rogue (Swashbuckler)
Character Alignment: Neutral Evil (Assuming you may allow evil characters. If not, I can change to Chaotic Neutral.)
Character Background: Pirate
Character Backstory: Swordfish is a former pirate who is the sole survivor of his crew.
