Grandrom is part of a monastery of silent monks. Their vows involve imparting the importance of words of warning by not speaking unless it is something truly incredible or dangerous. The elders have achieved enlightenment and foresight of an extraordinary even supernatural level. They have determined that there are dangers near Baldur’s Gate and they must send someone to look into it. Grandrom is a youth of excellent potential and is being sent to investigate. Grandrom himself is simply glad to be of service. He is a bit uncomfortable with the idea of breaking his vows for anything mundane, but he’s also a bit excited at the taboo of it all.
Question: How often will you expect players to post?
Name: Four Chance Darkening Thicket (Chance) Race: Tabaxi Class: Hexblade Warlock Alignment: Chaotic Good
Backstory:
Among other reasons, Four Chance was given this name because he happened to be the fourth child born to his parents, whose family lived in one of the hamlets surrounding Daggerford. His mother left the family when he was young; Chance's father said she had been "called back to the road." Chance felt driven to hear every story his father had to offer as a poet and storyteller, and to read every book he could get his hands on. Eventually, in his mid-teens, he felt that this home had little left to offer him. Chance convinced his father to let him travel with his brother who'd been wandering throughout Faerun, also driven by curiosity.
A few years later, Chance came across a village with an empty house just outside of town. From the moment he first heard that it was haunted, he was hooked and began investigating the house itself, as well as learning what he could about it from the villagers. Even when he clearly saw signs that the house was haunted, Chance kept digging for more information about its story. After a number of days, he came face to face with a ghost who'd been haunting the house. His first reaction, after the initial surprise, was to ask what business kept the ghost around. The ghost turned out to be a former member of the Harpers, and his business was to tell another Harper information that would bring the village chief to justice.
Chance sent a message to one of the ghost's contacts, just in time for a few locals to start harassing him to leave. When he refused to leave, the ghost's house soon became the only place in the village where Chance could wait in peace for a Harper. One night, right before the house was attacked, a mysterious tabaxi appeared in the house to talk to Chance. The ghost seemed to recognize him, which helped Chance decide to agree to a pact with the stranger's patron. With new power, he repelled the attacking locals; later, when the ghost's contact arrived, they arranged for the village chief's crimes to be brought to light.
With the ghost's business complete, Chance accepted an offer to join the Harpers and go to Baldur's Gate. He trained with an experienced Harper until he felt ready to operate on his own, some time before the gates began to close and the Flaming Fists began conscripting new members...
Sigmund grew up the human child of a wealthy family of Alchemists. Almost as soon as he could walk, he was taught the tools of the trade, and was considered a prodigy. Sigmund was incredibly intelligent and had a thirst for learning that surpassed all of his siblings. By the age of 10, Sigmund had surpassed his 2 older siblings in skill, and was rapidly catching up to his parents as well. His thirst for knowledge could not be satiated, and so his ambition took over. Sigmund began concocting his own mixtures, experimenting with dangerous chemicals. One day at the tender age of 21, one of his mixtures gave him a horrible chemical burn on his face— he was changed forever— hideous. In a fit of fear of what his parents would do, he quickly gathered his things, and left home, surviving on the streets of Baldur’s Gate a day at a time. However, in these few months alone, side effects of the burn began to show themselves. Sigmund was now able to perform small magical feats and could change his appearance at will. And so, looking for easy money and a way to grasp the full extent of his powers, Sigmund joined the Flaming Fist, also still unsure of when and how to confront his family.
Why to Baldur's gate: She came from far city in the north. She likes exploring and traveling the world, which led her to Baldur's gate. An officer of the Flaming fist saw her fight off a group of ruffian in order to help a lady. He thought she could be useful for the Flaming fist
Name: Hindrish Race: Bugbear Class: Rogue Background: Mercenary Veteran Flaming Fist connection: Hindrish ended up in Baldur’s Gate after an escort run from the far north just before the gate’s were sealed. Due to the need for employment, the need for protection against backlash for being a goblinoid, and the need to belong to a group, he sought out the Flaming Fists and was welcomed, though with reservations and is closely watched. More general backstory: He was rescued by a childless human mercenary after a battle as an infant and raised as her own. Being well aware of the bugbear tendency towards violent outbursts, he was raised strictly with obedience to the code of the mercenary and the law being paramount, in that order. His “mother” is still alive, though retired, in Neverwinter.
Name: Penyu Race: Tortle Class: Monk Alignment: Chaotic Good Background: Far Traveller Back Story: Penyu as with many others of his kind hatched to a clutch of five on the Snout of Omgar. After the passing of his parents, he was taken in by a small monastery on the island, The Temple of the Snapping Spirt. There he was not only drilled on the tenets of their beliefs but also how to defend himself. Most of the Tortle younglings easily settled into the order and routine of life in the monastery as was the inclination of their race. Penyu however was a little different, he chaffed against the seemingly endless days of repeated and mundane tasks. His little Tortle heart longed for something more.
One day he heard that a merchant ship from far away Waterdeep had docked on the island for trading. Penyu knew this was his chance. Paying the ship captain to take him onboard, he made his preparations and on the designated day slipped out of the monastery and sneaked on board. The journey back to Waterdeep was mundane and boring to most onboard The Cornelia Marie but to Penyu everything was new and exciting. After a long few months, Penyu finally stepped off the ship on to the main dock of Waterdeep.
Making a living on his own in a foreign land was not easy for Penyu. To make some coin, he put the marital skills he learnt in the monastery and joined the Flaming Fist mercenary company. It was a win win situation for the young Tortle, make some coin and get to experience the new world around him.
His latest assignment has him accompanying a merchant caravan into Baldur's Gate. From there he hopes to spend a few days enjoying out the city before, looking for another caravan to begin another journey.
The forest had always been her home. When she lived with her clan they would go exploring the dens forest around their home. She and the other children knew every trail, every tree and rock around them. Shadow couldn’t remember a time when the sounds of nature didn’t surround her.
She was happy in her clan but the curiosity that is inherent in her people was strong in her and she needed to see new things, find new paths and learn new ways. So she left and roamed the forest hunting, exploring and some times guiding explorers. It was on one of these trips she ran in to vampires for the first time. Shadows instincts told her at the first sight that these were undead creatures and her entire being rebelled at the sight and concept of them. It went against nature. From that day she made it a mission to always destroy the undead when ever she found them.
On one of her rare visits to a small coastal town Shadow saw a ship full of exotic birds and animals in crates and cages. Her curiosity took over and she sneaked onboard to look at all the amazing animals. Before she realised what had happened the ship had set sail and she was trapped aboard. She was discovered by the dwarf businessmen that had hired the boat to ship his new products back home. He let Shadow come along in exchange for her teaching him about her home and her people.
Now she finds herself stranded and alone in Baldur’s Gate. The city is strange and makes her skin crawl and her fur stand on its ends. But at the same time there are new things everywhere and Shadow love new things.

Alright I think I've completed my application. However I have a couple of questions
I wasn't clear if a full character sheet was required?
Does my character have to be conscripted to the Flaming Fist? I took it to understand that as long as they have a reason to be in Baldur's Gate it would be ok, am I correct in my understanding?

Happy in his work, he advanced to the rank of Gauntlet. He returns every few days to Tumbledown to see his parents and to attend services at a small makeshift temple attended mostly by dragonborn, who follow the teachings of Bahamut. Eventually you'll have to have a full character sheet, (when the campaign starts) but it isn't necessary for your application.
Generally, yes, everyone's been conscripted to the Flaming Fist (or is working with them) for one reason or another.
