Nicholas lets out a sigh of relief and leans against the wall. He looks at his companions and gestures towards the mist, "Anyone have any idea what that was? Could whatever that created that be nearby?"

Cailean mutters a few quick words as you see Thodek and Jimjar slowly come to consciousness. Thodek: you wake to see the entire party staring quizzically at you, with a tired look in their eyes.
“I have got to stop doing this,” Jimjar chuckles weakly. “What happened while I was out?”
Voyage breathes deeply in and out trying to calm herself. "I do not like losing control." She mutters as she comes closer to Thodek putting an awkward hand on the dwarf's shoulder. "I apologize for...whatever that was."
She looks at the others, Shushaar and Jimjar in particular. "Do you know what it was the caused this. Is there any means to protect ourselves from...whatever just stirred our brains with a fecking stick?"
Thodek slowly wakes up and looks around confusedly, pulling himself up as Voyage speaks, "What? Sorry for what? I'm sorry, I must have dozed off. What'd I miss?" He looks around at the others and sees they're on the right side of the mist, "Perhaps we can walk and talk, shall we move on?"
"Yes. Now that we have both our wits and our companions about us we should be in our way. The faster we can put distance between ourselves and this mist, the sooner we shall arrive at Darklake and, hopefully, find some measure of safety. Let us make haste and continue on our way. If everyone is well enough to continue..." Syvis motions for Thodek and Shuushar to join her at the head of the group to press on.
The party is able to collect themselves and continue traveling. The rest of the day luckily goes by without issue and you are all able to settle in a small cavern for a long rest. Nicholas or Cailean please make a Survival check for foraging during the past 5 days and Thodek please make a Survival check for navigation during the past 5 days.
Now would be the time to RP any conversations your characters would have had now or over the past few days. Include the number of rations you would have over 5 days of travel, and after that, we should be good to continue.
If food begins to get scarce, Syvis will eat half rations for 3 days and then full on the 4th day as she gets too hungry to continue at that rate. Rinse/repeat. She'll drink full rations of water.
That should keep the exhaustion in check.
Still wondering what happened in the mist (and since, apparently, none of the NPCs know its nature), Syvis will work her way through the group during rests asking each about their experience: how they felt, what they saw, what they can remember, what the experience of exiting the mist felt like, etc.
Voyage will do one day at half rations, one day at full rations off and on. Assuming this is the fifth day of travel, she is on half rations this day.
Con check: 9
Exhausted, and mentally and emotionally drained after the day she has had, she will disappear into her bottle for an hour or so, and then after she leaves from the bottle, she will keep her distance from the group and generally be a morose bastard to anyone who approaches for the rest of the night until she finally, mercifully sleeps.
As they travel Nicholas continues to search for food and water, hoping to supplement their meager supplies. In order to conserve their supplies he would take half rations for food for three days before taking full rations again on the fourth day. He would drink full rations of water.
Travelling at the back of the group, Nicholas would try to strike up conversations with those from the underdark, trying to find out more about this strange place to which he has been brought, "This is such a strange place. So very different from the surface. No sun, no moon. Don't you feel claustrophobic in confined within cavern walls all the time?"
Thodek navigation survival (assuming advantage with Shuushar's help?): 21 He will continue to create water each night for the group. He'll take full rations of water each day and, like Voyage, will alternate between half and full rations, "I've been thinking of losing a little weight anyway, haha."
During one of the rests, talking with Nicholas, he'll chuckle at his questions, "We've lived down here all our lives, this is normal. This 'sun' and 'moon' you talk of are things I've only heard of in old tales."
He'll also spend some time during breaks to create another 9 bags of caltrops, 5 of which he'll spread behind them in likely choke points or hazardous areas, such as the mist they'd come through.
Cailean will continue to supplement the food daily with a casting of Goodberry, eating one and adding nine to the foodstores, and drinking a full ration of water each day. As more time passes since their escape, he begins to warm further towards the members of the group. Each day they survive in the underdark, he wakes feeling a bit more hopeful for their chances of truly surviving their shared ordeal.
Due to a successful survival check, we have now completed 7 full days of travel. Over the course of these 5 days, Nicholas finds 30 lbs of both food and water.
Based on my calculations, after everyone eating rations over the course of the few days, the party now has a surplus of 34.5 gallons of water and 45 lbs of food.
Thodek would have easily been able to create more caltrops, and set them out to cover the party’s tracks.
Shuushar would have told the party that he believes that they party is nearing the Darklake (1-2 more days), as the tunnels begin to narrow and fill with minimal amounts of water.
If the party discusses the events of the mist, Thodek could make one final history check with advantage to determine exactly what this odd mist was.
Thodek: After talking with the party, some of which seem to have had some sort of hallucination while others lost control of their mind for a moment, you come to a conclusion on what this mist was. In your studies, you learned of small areas in the Underdark filled with old elven magic called faerzress. These areas are magically unstable, and although you don’t necessarily remember any specific effects of the mist, it has been known to cause those who step foot in it to have momentary bouts of madness.
Voyage will listen attentively to Thodek's explanation and she grimaces. "Madness? Unstable magic? Gods, is there no end to the horrors of this place? With the number there are of us, I do not believe we will survive that many trips through this faerzress. We will become paralyzed, murderous or hysterical and will put the others at risk."
Voyage looks at all the others. "I propose that should we run into another of these caverns, we maybe not go through it? In my experience, when you're facing terrors on the seas, there's always another way. If we have to spend a better part of a day finding an alternate path it is better than..." she shivers. "Whatever that was that crawled into my brain."
"I concur," Syvis chimes in. "There is no way we could have expected or been prepared for that, given our resources." Her expressionless voice drones on, "Perhaps, once we reach Darklake, the kuo-toa will be able to provide us with the means to traverse the area without fear of the faerzress' effects. Or at least know of circuitous routes we would be able to utilize to avoid its dangers entirely. Surely they have unlocked some of its secrets in their generations of experience."
Thodek sighs and looks downcast, "Sorry my friends, I didn't travel much, so I've never actually seen it before and didn't realize what is was until it was too late. But yes, I agree, we should try and avoid them as best we can in the future. I'll try and think over the tales I've heard and talk with the other residents, see if we can come up with any other hazards we should watch out for."
“I am sorry too,” Jimjar says to the party as he clutches Turvy’s shoulder. “I had recognized the signs too late, and will take the blame for this.”
Shuushar nods. “Yes luckily we should be reaching Sloobludop soon. If things go well, we should be able to secure supplies and directions to wherever we may go next.”
Once Cailean recovers and gathers his bearings, he reaches out to the unconscious members with soothing magic.
(Using Balm of the Summer Court to heal both of them, on mobile and not sure how to link it.)
Thodek: 3 hp
Jimhar: 6 hp
They also get 1 temp HP each. :)
