Qinfaren examines the creature but it is not a creature of the natural world. The creature recoils away from him as he draws closer.
Bjorn shakes his head, "I have never seen anything like this. Whether it be a pet or not, it seems of no danger now. Leave it be."
Bjorn then turns to look for the exists. He notes doors to the north west, north, north east, and south east. He then listens at the doors to the north west and north east, but there are no sounds from the other side.
Bjorn then turns to the others, "By the looks of it, those two doors just lead to storage rooms withthin this room. We could check them out, but it might be a waste of time."

“The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules.” ― Gary Gygax
"Can the badger or weasel slip in through the cracks in the doors and let us know what is on the other side?" Bàn asks. "If not, do we want to try to hole up her for ten minutes? I could summon my familiar which could play the role of spy by doing such thing..." The whole time they are discussing these things Bàn keeps looking back towards the creature. What is it? Is it some kind of watchdog or alarm?
"Should we kill it?" he asks the others in a whisper. "I can watch through my familiar's eyes. It's possible we are being watched thusly right now..."
His main goal is to try to learn what is beyond the doors without opening them, if possible. If the weasel can slip in and report, that is the quickest method. If not, and the others think there is time, then Bàn will try to ritually cast Find Familiar to summon a rat which could squeeze under doors and such.
Bàn stands there watching... Confused and slightly alarmed. He doesn't know what is going on but gets the sense that something is. But for now he just waits, giving Qin a curious look.
"The duergar", the creature responds. "They captured be down in the Underdark. They brought me. They brought me here and chained me to this statue of theirs. This room is a temple to one of their gods, Deep Duerra. She is the duergar's god of conquest and psionics.
Their leader; Xardorok. He comes here to pray to the goddess. He draws strength from the statue's flame. There is a priest; Klondorn. You will find him to the southeast. There is something strange about him.
I barely have much health left. I am close to death. They amputated me. Removed my tentacles."

"He's a prisoner of some sort. He says they cut off his tentacles. That flame there is important to Xardorok. Maybe we should put it out. And there's a strange priest behind that door," Qinfaren says. "I'm sure he'll understand any questions you have too."
Qinfaren looks to bind any wounds the creature has to stop any more loss of life, though he's reluctant to spare magic until he's a better idea of what's ahead of them. (Medicine: 18 ) and he tries to untie/break the bonds holding the creature prisoner (3 plus 4 if Athletics, plus 3 if Sleight of Hand).
Bàn can't help but wince. "The bastards! Kill a man if you need to... Torture him if you must... But to cut him down like that is just uncalled for!"
Then, seeing Qinfaren attempt to free the creature, Bàn decides to help ensure the creatures assistance and loyalty. "We're freeing you and will do our best to ensure you escape this place alive," Ban says as he grasps his component pouch which contains, amongst other things, a snake's tongue and a but of honeycomb. "You just need to stick with us and work with us. Join your fate to us and we'll all be the better for it." (Casting Suggestion to try to get the creature to join and assist us. DC 13 Wisdom save)
Bán frowns due to the lack of positive results and assumes it didn't work. He really sucked at the magic stuff. Ah well, he hovered and waited in case the creature took offense and got hostile...
"We're uh.... Just going to leave this thing at our backs then?" Bàn asks quietly with some concern. Looking at the creature though... But then again, looks can be deceiving...
Bàn sighs and shrugs. "Alrighty then. Priest it is, I suppose..."

Qinfaren approaches the chained creature.
"Can you understand me?" Qinfaren asks. "We won't hurt you."
The creature telepathically responds to Qinfaren, "Yes, I can understand you."

“What’s going on here? Why are they keeping you prisoner? Do you want to be freed?” Qinfaren thinks to the creature.
Bàn stands there watching... Confused and slightly alarmed. He doesn't know what is going on but gets the sense that something is. But for now he just waits, giving Qin a curious look.
Qinfaren looks over at the others tapping his head. “It’s a telepath.”
"The duergar", the creature responds. "They captured be down in the Underdark. They brought me. They brought me here and chained me to this statue of theirs. This room is a temple to one of their gods, Deep Duerra. She is the duergar's god of conquest and psionics.

"Telepath... right," Bàn says and then wanders about the room looking everything over.
"Hey, ask it if it know's what's beyond the doors," he calls back over. "And why it's being kept here. And... well... anything else you think of."
Qinfaren looks back at Bàn and Bjorn.
"He's a prisoner of some sort. He says they cut off his tentacles. That flame there is important to Xardorok. Maybe we should put it out. And there's a strange priest behind that door," Qinfaren says. "I'm sure he'll understand any questions you have too."

Bjorn frowns, "The priest is strange? You telepathically communicating with something that had tentacles."
As Qinfaren attempts to treat the creature's wounds, he simply says, "I am too close to death. I am useless."
Then Qinfaren frees him from his chains. The creature stands up on looks around. Not knowing what to do with itself.

Bàn attempts to magically influence the creature, but it resists his attempts. It then turns to face him.
Qinfaren hears him say, "You would use magic on me?"

Bjorn stands just behind Bán waiting to see what happens next.

Qinfaren looks back to the others, realizing one of them must have cast a spell.
"This is a hostile place and the duergar here are trying to hurt a lot of people," Qinfaren replies back. "We're being cautious."
He then gestures to the elevator.
"You're free to leave."
The creature looking in the direction that Qinfaren points, "I don't think that way leads to the Underdark."
Bjorns looks around in confusion, "Come on Bán, let's move on. If he is coming with us, he can otherwise I don't think there's much else we can do.
The only question is do we deal with the priest now or later?"
