Qinfaren looks past Bjorn and into the room with the priest.
"What makes this guy weird?" Qinfaren thinks to the ex-prisoner. While waiting for a response, he waves at the duergar. "You don't happen to know where Xardorok is, do you?"
"Oh, hey! There you are! We were told to come see you," Bàn says with a smile. "That's Qinfaren, I'm Bàn and this here is Bjorn. We have a scheduled meeting with Xardorok but have totally forgotten where he said he'd be. The fine chained up gentleman in the other room directed us here and said you could help..."
Bàn doesn't even bother to try any magic to help his deception, what's the point? But he does prepare himself for violence which is almost inevitable.
"You speak of the speak of mind flayer?"the duergar smirks. "A creature known for using its psionic powers to subjugate and enslave other races. That is the gentleman you speak of?"

"Mind Flayer, you say? Huh. We didn't actually get his name. It's unusual but sure, his name could be Mind Flayer... We didn't really get into the details on subjugating and enslaving others, is it a subject you speak on often? Are you pro or con the whole slavery thing, my good sir?" Bàn babbles in reply hoping to build some kind of report so he could maybe persuade this guy into sharing some helpful information.
"We follow the will of Deep Duerra, in this fortress," the duergar snarls. "The goddess of conquest and psionic power. Her might was so great hse dominated a mind flayer colony and turns the illithids into her slaves. As her preist, I seek to taking a mind flayer as a thrall."

"So you are pro-slave. Good to know. Good. To. Know," Bàn responds. "The way you talked about the one you call Mind Flayer it sounded perhaps otherwise. And boy we would have been shocked..."
"Yeah, so... Anyway. You were about to tell us where we can find Xardorok?"
Qinfaren fails to see any signs of agression, but the duergar priest does not look happy to see them.
"The mind flayers only serve themselves. We serve Deep Duerra," the duergar replies. "I was not going to reveal any details of Xardorok's location. Now begone, the lot of you."

"Xardorok needs to meet with us and you are just going to sit there on your thumb, spinning around, and refusing to point us in the right direction? What is your name?" Bàn demands. "He'll want to know of your insolence and, if I know Xardorok, repay you for it!"
The duergar priest scoffs at Bàn's remarks, "I am Xardorok's most trusted advisor. I am the Priest of Deep Duerra in this fortress. I am Priest Klondorn. I should call the guards and have them taken awak to your execution just for being here."

"Klondorn! That's you??" Bàn exclaims. "Perfect! I mean not about the execution thing but man, we really are happy to see you! You wouldn't happen to be able to look at this for me, would you? It could really use a blessing..."
Hopefully keeping Klondorn distracted with his prattle, Bàn attacks...
"Whoah!" Bàn says when violence breaks out. He is even more shocked when theduergar shape changes... That doesn't matter though, he is being attacked and must defend himself. Damn himself for not summoning his familiar this morning! But help or no help, he had to fight back... So Bàn pulls his whip and defends himself even as he sidesteps some hurled flames...
Not sure on positioning here so:
If Bàn is within 5' of he barbed devil: Booming Blade Whip attack: Nat 20 for 25 to hit and 7 slashing damage. "On a hit, the target suffers the weapon attack’s normal effects and then becomes sheathed in booming energy until the start of your next turn. If the target willingly moves 5 feet or more before then, the target takes 1d8 thunder damage, and the spell ends."
If Bàn is 5' or more away from barbed devil: Eldritch Blast Attack: 10 to hit for 4 force damage.
((Distance matters since Eldritch Blast would be at disadvantage if in melee range...))
Qinfaren’s equally surprised by the transformation, but he also keeps an eye on where the hat went to check it out later.
The spikey devil leaves him temporarily perplexed. How did devil’s get involved here.
Qinfaren moves to the side to avoid Bjorn and Ban. If he can angle his way to have a clear path to the devil, he does. Then he slams the end of his staff against the ground, letting the power of the mountain itself roar outwards and into the devil, trusting that the noise of the machinery will cover up the noise of the thunder.
Casts thunderwave at 2nd level - CON save DC 15 or pushed away 10’ and takes 9 thunder damage.

"Well, it hasn't attacked us," Bjorn shrugs. "And it doesn't seem to know what it wants to do now. It was already captured, and we let it go."
Bjorn walks over to the door in the southeast. He carefully opens the door.

"His thoughts are unusual."
As Qinfaren calls out to the priest Bjorn mutters beneath his breath, "I was hoping to catch him off guard."
The priest looks up from the stone tablet he is chiseling away at, "Who are you? You're not supposed to be in here."

(Bjorn, Klondorn, Bàn, Qinfaren)
Sensing that Bàn is going to attack, Bjorn knocks an arrow and aims it at Klondorn waiting for Bàn to strike.
He then instructs Blue to get ready to bite the duergar priest.
Realising that he is being threatened Klondorn beings to laugh, "Oh to the Nine Hells with it."
He then reaches up and tosses his miter aside, reavealing his true form. That of a devilish creature with spikes across its body.
It then hurls flames at Bjorn and Bàn.
(Attack: 18 Damage: 12 fire damage.
Attack: 20 Damage: 6 fire damage.)
