If he can keep centered long enough to fight back he will have to do so with as much furry as he can muster. He slashes out with his ninjaken and then smashes his free hand into the head of the creature, following it up by spinning round and striking with his heel.
After being awoken by the strange beast's attack in the night, Helena curses that she wasn't awake to warn anyone. She rolls out of the way, pulling her bow and arrow to her chest, and lets a few loose, using her adrenaline to get an extra shot off. Then she cautiously backs away about 20ft into the dark.
Tam and Caine choke on the spores, weakening the body and clouding the mind.
Cedar fires into the darkness, and a the wet thunk of his arrow can be heard. The creature roars as it lets go of Caine, clamping it's jaws around Cedar instead!

Then, it begins clawing at it's own ribcage, sending fungal growth and maggots into the air. The maggots fall towards Nolla, Helena, and Tam, swarming and biting at their skin.

Finally, the party retaliates. Caine breaks off pieces of it's fungal armor with his fists as Jaesali slahes with his greataxe. Helena switfly puts two arrows into the bear's back side. However, the creature does not seem to feel the sensation of pain, and while the attacks may have put it on the brink of destruction, it continues it's onslaught.
Tam and Nolla are up.
(Yes, disadvantage in the dark. Though Tam is already poisoned.)
Tam rises, feeling like he will vomit, and heads shakily to the sound of the roaring and slashes blindly at the reeking mass in the darkness. He follows up with a kick, hoping to connect with something.

Tam lashes out blindly at the beast in the darkness, and both his strikes connect. It roars as it's brought to the brink, but continues to charge with fiendish energy. Until Nolla's arrow pierces it's eye; the final blow brings it to the ground.
A few moments pass as the spores in the air dissipate. The creature lays unmoving before the party. In the grove, a familiar silence settles back in the night.

Caine brings his breathing under control, hopefully that whatever poison spores the creature released do not have a long lasting affect.
He then gathers what dry branches and brush he can find and nods towards the wood that had been gathered for a fire earlier.
”Whatever this creature became, I do not think it began that way,” he says.
”We should burn it and keep a fire going the rest of the night,” he adds. “The maggots need to be burned and this abomination needs to destroyed.”
