Basina takes up the pouch, reads the note and smiling she adds the gold to her money and carefully places the note inside a little wooden box she has in her backpack. She then goes to join the others for breakfast.
”Good morning my fiends. I hope you are all well rested. Mal should I have a look at that arm?” she asks happily.

Basina Fairfoot- Halfling paladin Shadow through the forest (Shadow) - Tabaxi Ranger (beastmaster)
While Basina works on curing Mal, Gorokum brings her up to speed on what they've overheard in the dining room - someone may want them dead and that may be because of the pendants.
"I say we go to the tavern and find Valorie. She may be able to tell us who might want us removed from this town. And that may give us the lead we need."
At the tavern, you find a drow working the counter, but it's not Valorie. She has hair half the length of Valorie's, and her eyes are a dark amber. "What would you like." She says, but there's a somewhat sarcastic tone in her voice.
She turns to Mal, her expression looks like something is aggravating her. "You mean my sister, Valorie? She's not here! She was injured badly during last night's attack. Now, are you going to buy something or not?"
“Your sister was of great aide to us last night, we would like to return the favour. Several members of our team can heal and we would be honoured to assist your sister” Basina says in her most calm and polite voice.

"Ach, that's terrible. We should have stayed with her. She was sure she could handle things on her own, but we could have helped more." Thoradin actually sounded contrite. "Does she still need healing? As Basina mentioned, we could help with that. For that matter, are there any other wounded?"
"How should I know?! If you want to see her, she's in a medical tent, but they will only let family see her, and none of you, not even you..." she points at Mal "...look like family, so don't bother trying."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mal'thrae raises an eyebrow, and replies: "She's your sister, right? You could take us to her, we help you by helping your sister out by healing her injuries, then we get to speak to her. Seems like everyone benefits there."

She sighs "Look, kid. As much as I want my sister back, so I don't have to deal with those drunks, they won't let you in unless your family, not even with my permission. They..." she directs towards everyone but Mal "...they will never believe you four are family" she looks at Mal for a moment "...but they could be fooled into thinking you (Mal) are family, but it will take some convincing. You come with me, the rest of you run the place while I'm gone, and you can keep what you make."
Basina gets an odd look about her that the rest of the group haven’t seen before when Valorie’s sister tells them to run the tavern. It looks like mischief or maybe greed. But she takes a big inhale of air and then her expression returns to the normal happy smile.
”Well, best not be standing around here doing nothing when folks are in need of a drink” she says and searches around for an apron, that of course is to large for her. She folds it and ties it so that it almost fits and finds a little stool or crate to stand on behind the counter.

"If you can find out any more about what is happening here and why we seem to suddenly be unwanted do so, but do not take any unnecessary risks," he says to Mal. "If someone really wants to do us harm, taking us one by one would be their best bet. Call if you need help."
Gorokum then turns back to the main room and sees Basina diving right into running the tavern.
"Is this something in your blood?" he asks her. "I have not spent any time in a halfling community, but there have appeared to be more than their fair share of halflings running inns and taverns in the world."
”I think halflings are drawn to any place that offers food, drink and the opportunity to share a story or a song. So owning an in or a tavern is a good fit for my kind.” She says cheerfully.

"Noted. See how she's doing, tell her about what's going on. Got it. Maybe I can sneak her a healing potion while we're there; do any of you have one or is there a place to buy one?"

"Yes, please." replies the half-drow, eager to get it working again.
Basina walks up to Mall and gently places a hand on his arm. She mutters a prayer and a faint red glow surround the arm.

The restoring magic from Basina heals Mal's wounded arm, it now feels like it can move again.

Mal'thrae thanks Basina for the healing, stretching and putting a smile on.
When the drow addresses them, he asks: "We're looking for Ms. Valorie; have you seen her around?"

(Is she hiding anything? Feels like she might be lying)
Insight: 19 (Guess I'll never know)
(It's hard to see if she's hiding anything with that grumpy look on her face)
