Baern - Once more the Druids eyes turn large as the sound of ringing batters his senses.
Wisdom Save: 12
The Druid steels himself against the incoming attack and manages to resist it's effects.
Sandu - The battle is in full swing in front of you now. Though a number of the party have rained shots and blows down upon the druid it appears as though he is still very much alive and fighting on. It is your turn to act.
Sandu cautiously took a few steps forward, confident that whatever it was that they were fighting would not charge through the entire to get to him. They were getting the upperhand, thanks to no small part of his travel companions showcasing skills and abilities they did not have before. What was up with the giant hammer suddenly materialising out of nowhere?
Questions for later. Sandu told himself. The druid was still standing and with him still were the weird plant-man creatures. They had trouble catching up it seemed, allowing for the group to gang up on the druid. Sandu wanted to get a piece of that. Because if at first you don't succeed,
'Pleacã!'
Keep throwing magic at it until it does what you want. Or something like that one of his instructors once said. Sandu had not always been the most diligent of students.
OOC: Eldritch Blast targeting the druid. Attack: 25 Damage: 10 Also moving up diagonally and stopping directly south of Ioben with one square in between.
Sandu - The purple energy surges from your hands as you utter the word. The beam finds its target with wicked effect. The smell of burnt wood and cooked flesh fills the air. The druid looks down and pats at the now smouldering hole in his chest. He lifts his arm, as though to respond, but falters and staggers forward. Then he falls his shocked face hitting the path - clearly dead.
The Vine Blights go limp and drop to the ground - nothing more than a bundle of vegetation. Ireena gasps looking first to the dead druid at her feet and then to Sandu, "You.. wha... he..." she struggles to find words... "Dead... very dead." Ismark looks at Sandu and grins,"Remind me to never upset you Sandu... bloody good shot."
It appears as though the immediate threat is over, for now.
Baern comes running up to the front of the line just after the druid falls, panting. "It's hard...to keep up... with you fast... folk!"
Taking a moment to catch his breath, he asks Dormark "wow, what was that?" "Was that your hammer, or.... His?" With the emphasis on His, and a slight glance upwards towards the night sky, Dormark would know that Baern does indeed mean Moradin.
"Well, that didn't go as planned."Ioben took a moment to go back and collect his backpack from where he had dropped it before heading down to talk to the Druid. Then, heading back towards the others, he checks his arrows to see if there are any still in good enough condition to reuse.
Breathing heavily Dormark's eyes slowly return to normal. "It is the power of my faith, whether it is his or mine... it probably something in-between,' he says as the hammer shimmers out of existence. "Good shots Baern, we will make a warrior out of you yet," says Dormark patting the dwarf's back. "Why don't you take Galqarin and scout out ahead see if you can find anything useful or dangerous, maybe we will find some reward for our fight," he says to Baern. Looking around the group he says, "Not a bad fight all around. Minimal damage and still have some spells to use afterwards. We were lucky to have spot them, or it might have been a different story. Ioben would you mind giving the body a search? Might find something useful on him and I don't think he will need it where he is going,' he says walking towards the back of the group. Standing before Sandu he looks at him and raising his hand out for a handshake he says, "Nice follow up Sandu."
Ioben - Looking amongst the smouldering pile of wood and flesh, that was once the druid, your attention is drawn to the only item that seems intact - the buckler. Upon checking over the buckler you notice it to be in good order considering its age; it is slightly worn and green paint speckle it in parts, but it looks like it might be worth something.
"There is this,"Ioben holds up the small shield, "but Sandu, you did a pretty decent job of finishing him off." Standing up again he turns to the others. "I don't know if there is anything special about it, but it did survive when the rest kind of ended up," he waves back at the body, "well, like that. Sandu, Valerie, is there any way one of you could check this out? Maybe it wasn't destroyed because there is something magical about it. If not, I would sure love to have a shield anyway."
It took a couple of second for Sandu to fully comprehend what had transpired. One moment he, along with the others, were tussling with the feral man and his plant creatures, the next a flash of purple light preceded the smell of burnt wood and flesh, the man fell down and lay there motionless. Sandu glanced down. His hands were shaking a bit, yet he did not know whether it came from the shock of dropping a man death or the exhilaration at the surge of power. He had a hard time deciding which was worse.
He was so preoccupied with the aftermath of the fight that he barely registered that several people were talking to him. Ismark grinned something at him while both Dormark and Ioben filled his view both extending something towards him. It took Sandu a moment to notice that Dormark was holding out a hand to him in a congratulatory manner. Ioben on the other hand presented some kind of shield. Sandu recognised it as the shield the druid was holding before... before he was not anymore.
'Yeah- uhm, th-thanks.'Sandu stammered slightly. He pulled his cloak around him to hide his hands, neglecting to shake Dormark's. His eyes and attention shifted to the shield and Ioben's question. 'Looks like a normal shield, doesn't seem to dezvãlui anything to me.'His hand twitched underneath his cloak and his eyes grew darker as he peered at the shield.
As soon as you start detecting magic you see an aura emanating from the buckler. It has clearly been enchanted - a further identify spell, or period of time (short rest) studying the item, should reveal more about the nature of the enchant.
Sandu laid a finger on the shield and traced a symbol he faintly remembered from some half-forgotten lesson in the soft shimmering blue aura that enveloped the shield.
'I think it's been enchanted for extra defense.'Sandu said slowly. 'What's it called again? Ab-, abju-'
He snapped his fingers. ''Abjuration!' He said a bit more confidently.

"Right!"replies Baern, eager to be helpful. He checks the various remnants of the attackers as well as both sides of the road and where they came from in the woods for any items or anything else of interest. He then looks to take the lead, perhaps along with Galqarin or others, in continuing their march to Vallaki.
You do not find any further items of interest on the druid or the remains of the blights. The blights have reverted to their base components vines / thorns / twigs / foliage. As you approach them and check through the mounds of vegetation that remains a number of beetles skittle out and dash towards the woods. Other than that you find nothing.

"I miss", Galqarin says dejectedly of the dead druid at his feet. He gazes wistfully upon his hairy fist as if it bears the sole blame.
"Blights evil", he adds with heavy finality.

"We should get moving. It isn’t save here." Valerie looks around the area.
"Actually, there’s no safe place around here." She quietly mutters to herself.

Galqarin will indeed accompany Baern, keen to distance himself from the druid and its blight minions.
