Ismark stands up and thanks the group for their time. He looks around the tavern after Ioben asks him what where he'll be, "I'll stay here for a little while longer - enjoy the pleasantcompany. I have a couple of things to discuss with Arik before leaving. You'll be able to find me at the Burgomaster's Mansion after that."
He whisper's under his breath to the group;
"In the meantime if you visit the Burgomaster's Mansion I have told Ireena to permit no-one. Mention that Ismark sent you... if she asks you why tell her ..."for Doru"."
A look of deep sorrow passes across Ismark's face as he whispers the last part and says farewell to the group.
Valerie put her hand on her chest and bows with her head. "Thank you again. We shall find you at the Burgomaster's mansion later." Then she turns to Sandu and Ioben. "Shall we? Maybe we can catch up with others after this."
More specifics on the 'bundle' or no, Baern eventually emerges from the mercantile disappointed. He tells Parriwimple "friend, your uncle asked to see you inside." "He has a secret for just you."
The young dwarf looks at Alder and just shakes his head.
As Parriwimple departs Baern's expression of surprise and frustration at what just unfolded is replaced by a sense of urgency as he nods to Alder that they should leave, and in a hurry, before 'uncle' sends 'Parri' back out to play!
From where Alder and Baern are standing, in front of Bildrath's Mercantile, they can both see Dormark across the square patiently waiting outside the Blood of the Vine tavern. Likewise, Dormark would be able to see both of them.
To the South of the square the mournful sobbing, the party know belongs to 'Mary' , persists.
Baern makes his way back to Dormark, hoping Alder comes along or at least they can avoid Parri and his uncle for now.
"Sheesh, can you believe he wanted 90 gold for a shield, and 60 for some stinking hide armor? That's quite a price to pay for something that is far from fine dwarven plate! He wasn't very pleasant, either, and threatened us! Dormark, I may need your help keeping an eye out for somewhere to get some proper armor and weapons around here, or maybe trying to make something. Who knows how long we're going to be stuck in this place while we figure out what's going on, or that blasted fog goes away."
Alder follows Baern back towards the inn and Dormark. He glances back at the mercantile a last time with a scowl before his eyes trail over to where the sound of the weeping seems to come from before turning back forward. Alder glances down at the corpse in the warforged's arms, one eyebrow lifting quizzically.
Ioben turns toward the door. "I guess we go and talk to Mary then? Hopefully, it will help us wrap our heads around whatever this place is." As he heads toward the door, Ioben casually checks that his rapier is loose in its scabbard. Outside, he waits for the others and then heads in the direction of the wailing they had heard earlier.

'Let's get this over with.' Sandu muttered under his breath. Once outside, he instinctively looked up. He wondered if the raven was still there. He did not know why he even thought of the animal but there was something about it. Not wrong, like the scarecrows, or odd, like the villagers, but something else. He could not quite put his finger on it.
Sandu's hand subconsciously clasped the silver raven icon he wore under his clothes. His thumb rubbed the raven's head in a gentle motion. Without realising it, he softly uttered something. The silver raven cawed once. The sound shocked Sandu out of his musings and he hurried to catch up to the others going towards the sobs and cries.
“Well I am a smith I could make something for you, but it may take a few days,” he says with a shrug
(I don’t know when we wil be level 2, but my channel divinity can make metal objects as long as I’ve got the gold price for it, or if I can get my hands on some smithing tools I can make most things in 1 or 2 weeks.)
“Ismark says he will take me to the church, but he wanted me to accompany him somewhere as well, so I am waiting,” says Dormark. “Did you know the human that was hugging you? I thought you weren’t from here,” he asks in looking at the man.
As the party collect in the village square, outside the Blood of the Vine tavern, more signs of life can be seen as the local 'Barovians' go about their daily tasks. Though the village could hardly be described as bustling, there are now several locals in the streets; their faces are bleak and unwelcoming, many shy-away from making direct eye contact with the party. As the morning drags on there is a tension, a fear, on the air.
A raven's caw briefly pierces the low murmur of activity in the street - the sound, rather than coming from the skies, seems to emanate from Sandu. A number of side-ways glances from the locals shoot his way; you get the distinct feeling that the town is 'on edge'.
An especially wide berth is given to Dormark, still cradling the stranger's corpse. A child moves to approach the metal giant before quickly being ushered away by it's mother. People gawp at Dormark in amazement, but all are too fearful to approach him.
Sandu -
You notice that the Raven has not moved since you last checked - it remains on the roof of the tavern, taking in the sights of the village.
The party, aside from Dormark, begin to head towards the sobbing. Though it has been slightly muted by the sounds of the village, it still rings out - people seem to pay it little attention.
They find themselves outside a quaint, little house. Like the rest of the village of Barovia it is in urgent need of renovation - the door is battered and the paint peeling. The sound of the sobbing seems to be coming from an open window on the first floor ((US - Second Floor)).
(('Mad' Mary's House))
In the meantime, Dormark continues to wait patiently for Ismark outside the tavern.
Valerie quickly gets up to the door without thinking and knocks on the door. "Hello! Mrs Mary! I heard about your daughter. We're here to help. Can we come in and talk with you?"
"Gertruda! Is that yooouuu?!", a frail voice, hoarse and wracked with grief calls out.
You hear a scrambling at the door as many locks are urgently unlocked and bolts slid out of place."I am coming my darling. I've missed you so much!"
As the door bursts open you see a small woman, who looks older than her years."Oh?! Where is she? Where is my Gertruda? I - I thought I heard her just now."
((Portrait of 'Mad' Mary))
Valerie - you see the grief wash back over Mary, her eyes are red and blotchy. She looks lost as though she can barely make sense of the things as they are happening around her. You notice that her hands firmly grasp a malformed doll.
"Yes, that's right deary. Gertruda is my daughter. Have you seen her at all?", her eyes are full of hope as you looks directly at Valerie."I knew something like this would happen to her... its this rotten place."
Once again Mary seems on the brink of tears as she continues, "I tried to keep her safe, as any mother would. She is so precious, I hate to think of her out there somewhere, all alone."
"Thanks very much Dormark, maybe we'll have time to work on that, although I hope we can just get out of this place even sooner."
As people look strangely at Dormark Baern says "it's ok, he's really great. You should see. He's even a real dwar...ah, man now."
As the group heads for Mary's house, Baern says to the warforged, "oh, I guess I should go with them, see what we can learn. See you soon." He follows along but is hesitant to get too involved in other people's business here seeing as the group is just trying to figure out where they are and how to leave currently.

Parriwimple carefully puts Alder down, "Sorry friend. Parri not mean to hurt friend."
At Baern's mention of a 'secret' a broad smile appears on Parriwimple's face, "SECRET! For PARRI!". He dashes excitedly back into the shop.
