"I think I may have something Baern. I am afraid it is not in the best condition and it might be a bit large on you... my family... we are not rich, but if it will help I can provide it to you."
Ismark disappears and returns in a few moments holding a very rusty, poorly maintained suit of Ring Mail. "It was my fathers, it has seen better days... but I think it should still provide some protection."
((The armour he provides is rusted and as such currently has -1 to its current AC; totalling AC13 rather than AC14. It should be able to be restored given someone has the required proficiency, time, resources, etc.))
Baern is sincerely appreciative of the armor Ismark has brought. "I bet Dormark and I can fix this up! I promise to give it back after we bury your father. Thank you!"
Baern moves to a spot in the room where he can sit on the floor with the rusty, old ring mail and start working on it with his blacksmith's tools. He tries to clean off a bit of the rust and loop a few of the rings together in places where it will be too big for him to tighten it up in a temporary fashion that can be easily undone.
Dormark nods his head in approval at the Dwarf’s resourcefulness. “Wish I had my tools I must have lost them when I came here. Ismark we don’t have many leads, but them however we will be careful. We will seek them out after we properly taken care of your father. Anyways we better start up on the map of the area and you said there was no blacksmith in town, but is there perhaps a abandon smithy around here,” he asks.
"If you don't mind, it has been quite a day for us. If we could get a little rest, we could continue this conversation in the morning and makes some plans about how to best help you."Ioben unslings his pack and looks around questioningly as to which way they should go for some lodgings.
Baern happily tells Dormark "you can share mine!"(Smith's Tools)
"You know, if we're resting here for the night anyhow, and you don't mind, I think we could get this armor into good working order in maybe just a few hours. Only if you want to though. I'll make do if you need to rest. Do you...ah.. rest?"
(DM said the armor can be repaired in a matter of hours, especially with help)
“In a manner yes, but I can work it for awhile as well. Why don’t you bring it with you and we can work on it while looking at the map as well,” says Dormark motioning Baern to follow.
Baern is very appreciative of Ireena and Ismark, and very happy to follow Dormark to work on the armor and look over the map. His youthful enthusiasm seems to have overcome his fear of what they have learned for the moment.
As the party settle in at the Burgomaster's Mansion it is around noon. Ismark and Ireena busy themselves around the house; Ismark attempting to draw a map of the local area and Ireena practising her swordsmanship (something she appears remarkably good at).
Any who would look over the map Ismark is currently drawing will notice a number of things:
The Gates of Barovia, where you first entered the realm, are clearly marked to the East.
The Village of Barovia with 'Ravenloft' Castle appear in great detail
There are two other towns / villages marked on the map - one labelled 'Vallaki' towards the centre of the map, and the other labelled 'Krezk' far to the West.
The Old Svalich Road, which you were traversing, continues to the West and goes by both towns
There is a strange looking Windmill drawn on the map between Vallaki and the Village of Barovia
Not much detail is provided at the North and South of the map
As guests, the party receives full food and lodgings as they stay in the Mansion. The food is 'hearty' but not that well cooked. The rest of the day is yours! To do with as you please.
Baern - with Domark's assistance and your tools and ability with smithing you are able to restore the suit of Ring Mail armour. You can still see it's age but it seems to be moving a lot freer than previously and is now tailored to your height. "Splendid!" Ismark joyfully exclaims, "I think my father would rather it went to use than sit around rusting!"
Ioben - Ireena beckons you to follow her. She takes you upstairs and down a corridor until you reach a small bedchamber. The Mansion has clearly seen better days and the bedchamber's sole light is a single flickering candle. Though the room is small and pokey, there is a comfortable enough bed in the corner as well as a partially rotted desk and chair - you are unsure as to whether it would be able to take anyone's weight. "I know it's not much" Ireena apologises, "In my younger days this place used to be magnificent." She looks forlorn.
Alder - Similarly to Ioben, you are taken upstairs and shown to small bedchamber - it also has a single candle, this one looks like it is about to burn out any moment, most of the wax has gone. There is a smell of damp and rot through out the house. This little room has a single bed and a rotted bookcase, with a number of damp looking books. "I'm sorry Alder, we've had problems with the wind and rain coming through the cracks..." she looks at you apologetically, "I wish there was better accommodation we could offer."
Dormark - Ismark seems to be intensely drawing the map (detailed above) for most of the afternoon. He is more than happy to answer any questions / queries you may have and will answer them as best he can.
Sandu took a few steps around the place, trying to take it all in. 'It's been a while since I've been in a home this large.' He casually mentioned to Ireena and Ismark. He peered out from behind one of the boarded up windows. It gave the manor a besieged castle kind of atmosphere. Sandu did not feel at ease. He could not even remember feeling safe ever since he found himself in this strange land.
'Do...' Sandu paused for a moment, 'outsiders often pass through these lands?'When he mentioned outsiders, he gave a slight nod towards those of the group who are clearly not human. When he thought about it, he had not seen any other people other than humans so far in Barovia. Their little group was going to stand out like a sore thumb.
1. Were to find the camp of traders that Strahd let’s through the fog.
2.What notable landmarks or buildings should the group know about in the lands
3. Is there a place that can be set up as a smithing with rooms and lodges for the party.
Dormark - You are able to learn the following from Ismark;
Ismark draws a tent on the map - "The Vistani camp that I am aware of is at 'Tser Pool', here. I am sure there must be other camps around Barovia though."
"I know that there is a vineyard within Barovia. However, I am not too certain of its location. There are some ruined buildings to the South of Vallaki." Ismark proceeds to draw a gravestone on the map titled 'Ruins'.
Ismark thinks for a while, "I think you should be able to find a place in Vallaki. In truth most of our smithed items are traded. If you have the ability Dormark you may be able to trade for the correct tools in Vallaki."
Alder - Ireena smiles charmingly at you, "Certainly Alder - if I can be of any assistance, please ask."
Sandu - Ireena nods, "We occasionally get Outsiders travelling through Barovia. Though you might find that certain folk are treated a little differently - people are quick to distrust in this land." She smiles, "I hope not to cause offence. But, well, I think that where ever you may go your group might be likely to... cause quite a stir. Especiallythe large, metal one - Dormark is it?"
“Hmm so it may not be a bad idea to travel there then, but my personal issues aside, it would be best to find Madam Eva a figure a good course for ourselves. The fact of the matter is we don’t have much in funds to get anything that would fight off vampires, or anything on that level..., but that is a worry for tomorrow.
Looking at the chain shirt he says, “Good work my friend, that should help protect you till I find a proper place to set a smithy. In these lands I doubt we find much to protect ourselves other than what you make. Well it is time to rest I suppose I’ll keep watch near the door.” After saying this Dormark takes the map rolls it up and puts it in his pack. He walks into a corner of the room and positions himself to face the door. His body then locks up making himself stand in a stiff position and red eyes changing to the color of dying embers.
'Our tin man.' Sandu replied with a juvenile grin. 'I'll be sure to pass it along.'
Sandu's face took on a more neutral facade. 'No offence taken.' He stared into the distance. 'People fear what they don't know, it's only natural.'He fell silent. Small bits and pieces of memories tugged at his mind. He shook his head. The whole situation was messing with him. Not to mention the whole info dump Dormark unloaded upon them. A vampire of all things. And the way he so casually remarked it, without any fear or restraint, made Sandu weary of him. The metal man certainly lacked anything humane about him.
He turned his attention back to Ireena and Ismark. 'Do you mind if I just walk around the house a bit?.'He tried his best to muster up a smile and a brave face. 'I mean, we could play cards,' he plucked an old, well worn out deck of cards from a pocket, 'but I think everyone has better things to do.' He stashed it away again. His voice had died out towards the end when he saw Dormark just stand there completely inert in the corner of the room.
Seeing Ireena practicing, it reminds her of the days that she was an apprentice of the order. She stands aside watching Ireena for a moment then decides to join her. "I see you’ve got a pretty good skill there. Do you need a practice partner?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ioben looks over the map as Ismark rolls it out, taking particular note of the towns that are labelled there. Although there was a road that led all the way across Barovia, the twists and turns and side branches in the forests may be challenging. Definitely something to travel on during the day, or even better yet, with a guide.
Ioben follows Ireena upstairs to the small room. The house had seen better days for sure, but beneath it all the remains of grandeur were visible. If they could turn their luck around, this place could be beautiful once more. "Thank you so much. Your hospitality is a welcome light in this land." Ioben looked around the room, trying to find the most secure place to stash his belongings while he rested. "I will freshen up a little and be down shortly."
Once Ireena leaves, Ioben inspects the door to see if there is some way to secure it while he sleeps. ((Also, does the door open into or out of the room?))
Once Ireena leaves, Alder settles himself into the room, a process which amounts only to removing his coat, bag, and axe and placing them next to the bed where they can be accessed quickly should he need it. He pays no mind to any creakiness or issues with the room, thinking to himself that it was far better than a gutter or stable. He sits for a while, lost in thought, before turning in for the day and attempting to catch up on much needed sleep in the most comfortable place he's known for some time.

Dormark has three questions.
1. Were to find the camp of traders that Strahd let’s through the fog.
2.What notable landmarks or buildings should the group know about in the lands
3. Is there a place that can be set up as a smithing with rooms and lodges for the party.
