Dormark makes a physical push through the crowd forcing others out of the way gently he says, “What happened here!? is there anyway I can help? I do have some healing prepared today.” Noticing Sandu and the book Dormark shakes his head and stuffs the book under Sandu’s cloak. “Tell me what happened Sandu, to the best of your ability,” says Dormark not angry, but needing quick answers.
Sandu's screams brought all the Vistani to the tent. A cacophony of panicked sounds erupted all around him, disorientating him even further. But amid the whirlwind of chaos, there were two things he could focus on: a metallic voice adjoined with a cold, metal touch. Dormark. Sandu thought. He used the warforged's presence to steady his own person.
'I- I don't know.'Sandu stammered. His voice was shaky as the imagery from what transpired inide the tent flooded back into his mind. 'I visited Madam Eva for a personal reading but something went wrong.' His eyes darted from side to side trying to remember. 'It was like she was surprised by her own reading. Like her own powers overwhelmed her. She had no control over the reading. Or rather,'Sandu's eyes grew wide, 'she lost control.' His voice trailed off.
He turned his head. Dormark was there beside him. The book was no longer in Sandu's hand but he felt Dormark's hand move it out of the open to the inside of his cloak away from prying eyes. Sandu leveled his gaze with Dormark and lowered his voice so that only those closest to him could hear.
'Someone or some... thing interfered with the reading.' Sandu's hushed voice conveyed a mixture of disbelief, awe and sheer terror.
Baern - You look around the camp, the normal jovial mood has turned to fear after the recent events. You do not find any further information relating to what might have happened. But you do get a sense of it being highly unusual. Many Vistani not only look to Madam Eva as a defacto leader, for guidance and comfort, but also believe her to be a powerful protector of sorts. That fact that she has been brought low has shaken them.
Valerie - As you walk into the tent you become overwhelmed by a putrid smell; please can you make a Constitution check as you struggle not to vomit. It strikes you that the odour is undoubtedly coming from the tarokka cards ((you do not need a high Perception check to discern that)). You see Madam Eva face down over her table, the offending cards fanned out before her, with Galqarin attempting to bring her round.
Ioben - "Not last night no. Though, from wha' I gather, Sandu went this mornin'... Some say they 'eard strange sounds, seen strange things... But I dunno." He looked over his shoulder nervously, as though someone might be listening in,"If there were an intruder... well mus' of been incredibly strong. For Eva not ta 'ave known they was comin', or been able ta fight 'em off."
Wondering what is happening inside the tent, Baern yells "Galq....ahhh...."before thinking better of using his new friend's name since he's now supposed to be disguised. "Um, Dormark? Valerie? Ioben? What's going on? Do you need help?"
Baern decides to make for the back side of the tent where there should be fewer people before repeating his call while poking at the tent wall with a finger.
“Rest, recover yourself we must speak more on this later.,” says Dormark. Making his way towards Madam Eva Dormark firsts cast spare the dying on her to make sure she is stabilized. He then attempts to cast a 1st level healing word on her.
Valerie - The odour is so repugnant to you, to your very being, that your body responds in kind - you throw-up as the offending smell hits you. It does, however, leave you with no doubt - the Tarokka cards have been desecrated recently.
Baern - Nothing jumps out at you as you prod the tent wall; there are no holes, no slits, it remains very much intact.
Ioben - Petyr takes a pause to search his memories, "Not tha' I can think of. I mean, we've had folk come 'ere before seekin' ta do harm an' the like. But ne'er 'ave I seen them get the bes' of Eva." He looks sincere, "Ya don' und'rstand. Eva, she's powerful... Ta think wha' could do such a thing..."he shudders,"... makes me mighty afeared, truth be told."
Dormark - You cast both spells successfully. You are confident, on closer inspection, that Madam Eva is unlikely to die from her affliction. However, she remains unconscious.
Valerie points to the cards on the table and tries to says something. Before the smell hits her so hard that she no longer able to hold it.
She vomits all the food that she has eaten earlier. "Sorry! I need a minute." Being embarrassed by what has just happened, she rushes out of the tent, pass Baern without saying anything to him.
Sandu debated with himself for a hot minute whether or not to venture back into the tent. Eventually he decided to do so, if only so he could avoid the Vistani's eyes looking in his direction. As far as any of them knew, he was the last person who visited Madam Eva which did not bode well for his predicament.
He pushed the cloth from the entrance aside, narrowly avoiding Valerie who came rushing out, and stepped into the warmness of the tent. 'How... How is she?' Sandu asked, taking care not to stare directly at the scene.
“She is stable for now, though she isn’t waking up. Sandu what where her exact words to you when you doing your reading? Whatever did this to her is very evil and powerful entity enough to destroy her defenses,” says Dormark still studying his new patient for any regression.
Valerie - As soon as you leave the tent you start feeling a lot better. ((I know Divine Sense normally only lasts a turn but thought it would make more sense if you were able to detect the desecration on the cards, rather than expend multiple charges. As soon as it drops you start feeling better...))
Baern sees a now sick Valerie rushing out of the tent and decides to take the risk to help others. He rushes into the tent, sees Madam Eva, Dormark, etc. and says "what's making everyone sick in here?" "Let's just get her out of here!" He moves towards the seer in hopes of gently picking her up to move her outside.
(Dwarven resistance to poison probably won't help here, but just incase, figured I'd mention it before Baern gets sick! ;) )
(Possibly Galqarin is afforded some protection by the mask, or else the lavender perfume is drowning his senses!)
"Have box?", Galqarin asks Domark.
If the answer is affirmative, he takes the box, removes the contents ((the raven I think is all that is currently in it)) and seals the offending cards within the box.
Although he didn't get much information from Petyr, it was clear that this was a threat. whoever, or whatever, had done this had come into the camp unseen and incapacitated several people. Ioben's mind whipped around the possibilities, constantly coming back to Strahd. He had dogged their steps so far, why would it be any different here?
Ioben turned and walked the perimeter of the area, looking to see if there was anything that could be out of place, or anyone that seemed to be acting unusual.
Baern proceeds with gently trying to carry Madam Eva from the tent and away from whatever caused this affliction on at least three individuals, he knowing little of the specifics of the situation with the cards. He looks for a place to set her down gently and comfortably, calling for a blanket if need be.
Walking around the campsite the sense of uncertainty projected by the Vistani there is tangible. Concerned and frightened faces greet you as you make your way around the camp. Nothing appears to be out of the ordinary, as far as you're concerned, and the way the Vistani are acting is understandable.
Not finding anything of interest in the camp your attention turns to the Tser Pool and you begin to walk around it's shoreline. As you follow the shoreline Northwards away from the camp you believe you can see an odd looking bundle of rags, not more than a few hundred yards from Madam Eva's tent, stuck in the reeds.
As you rush to the bundle assuming you may find answers to what transpired in Eva's tent you instead find... Stefan! His face is appears unnatural, contorted in to a look of sheer terror, blood crusted around his eyes.
Baern - As you delicately remove Madam Eva from the tent outside many of the Vistani look fearfully on. They make way for you and help you find a place where you can lay her comfortably. Almost simultaneously, as Madam Eva is removed from the tent she starts to stir in your arms. When you lay her on the makeshift bed that has been rapidly constructed she opens her eyes and looks up at you."Baern? What, what happened?" she asks, her voice unusually strong for one that has seemingly endured what she has endured.
The mood of the camp noticeably changes as Madam Eva returns to health. She is adamant people do not make a fuss over her - "Don't be silly!", "I am fine, for goodness sake!", "I can look after myself you know!". The Vistani's spirits are greatly lifted with every word Eva utters.
It is clear from the offset that Madam Eva is oblivious to the events that had transpired earlier that morning; it is almost as though someone (or something) has plucked the memories directly from her head.
In addition, some of the more suspicious / sideways glances directed at the party have gone. The Vistani have returned to their normal, welcoming selves.
Ioben - You currently stand over the body of Stefan. In the distance you hear the camp spring back into life.

Baern paces around impatiently for a minute before deciding to push his way to the tent entrance. "Dormark? Valerie? Do you need help?"
(I'm guessing he'd see Madam Eva in tough shape and Valerie getting sick now?)
Valerie points to the cards on the table and tries to says something. Before the smell hits her so hard that she no longer able to hold it.

Valerie decides she should stay out for a moment. She finds a quiet near the camp to sit down and looks out to the camp for anything suspicious.
(I like how you're ruling.)
