Marla greets Misha's parents politely, clearly distracted by events. 'It's nice to meet you. Misha has proven to be a brave and honourable comrade in the past few days, alongside her smithing skills.' she pats the dagger at her waist, 'You must be very proud of her...'
Then seeing the kobolds, she gives a quick smile, lifted by their energy and enthusiasm.
In Draconic...
'Hi Jorah. I see your friends have come to join us. Will you introduce me? It's important that we speak about the house...'
’We have a haunted house, but I don’t yet understand how it’s haunted, and how we can bring peace to the ghosts, so you need to be careful - it could be dangerous if we disturb things too much. Let me know if you find anything unusual, or related to children. I think it might be important...’
"Oh we are quite proud of the woman she has become" Horace says beaming with pride in response to Marla while WIlma nods in agreement. The two blacksmiths leave behind the donuts before saying their goodbyes and heading out into the street. The fog is starting to dissipate the sun moves higher into the sky. It is around 9:30 am and Misha's parents are already late to open up their own shop for the day.
As Marla and the kobolds have their discussion, a dusty glass slides off the top shelf behind the bar and shatters upon the wooden floor.
with Misha's parents providing 750 gold, you are 500 gold from being able to cover the estimated cost of fixing up the tavern. You may be able to convince some of the guilds to begin work on the renovations with only a partial payment down but if you are unable to pay them in full by the time they complete their work, you can only assume that there will be hell to pay with the guilds and your hopes of getting this tavern up and running will be obliterated.
Jen picks up another donut, because they taste good and she doesn't want them to go uneaten in front of Misha's parents. "Is anyone else going to have any donuts?" She follows Horace and Wilma out as they go to start their day. "Thank you for the money you've lent us. It was nice to meet you!"

Misha snapped out of her thoughts and took a look at the donut box inquisitively. Her parents went to a place called Duncan's Donuts - not to be confused with the owner of the the Yawning Portal. They always had fresh donuts in the morning and few sugary treats could top their goods. Mostly to herself, she wanted one, but shook her head and patted her stomach. No. None for me, even though she wanted one. She treated her body like a temple and wanted to keep it that way.
Marla’s stomach grumbles, very empty after being sick earlier, and she takes one of the remaining doughnuts. ‘Thank you for thinking to bring these, and thank you for sharing, Jen.’
She’s almost finished eating when she hears the smash from above, and visibly flinches, looking around almost wildly.

Jorah, hearing that the territory was haunted, has his eyes go wide in surprise before growling. Scuttering back to the hatch, he informs his tribemates, in draconic, that they must prepare a ritual. Running out of the tavern, Jorah, and his tribe will disappear for a good hour, before returning.
Jorah, not having a lick of spiritual or magical talent, believes he can do a ritual cause he had seen Alexa, his Tribe's Shaman, and other magic folks do it before. Anything they could do, a Dragon could easily replicate. Flaring his nostrils, he and his brothers and sisters, set out a large, ragged tarp in the center of the main lobby, and began to draw circles and draconic pentagrams onto it (anyone with any measure of skill would be able to tell that, while words were present, this was far from being a functional magic circle). Bringing out a few sacrifices to pay tribute to the spirit, Jorah and his mates put down a number of bones, slabs of jerky, a bottle of wine, and a dagger, into the center of the drawings. Jorah then pulls out a lizard skull, and places it onto his head, very slowly and in a very dramatic and ritualistic fashion.
Once he puts it on, he and his mates start dancing around the circle and the offerings. Performance: 15
Once the dancing and draconic singing was done, Jorah froze in front of the altar and made exaggerated movements towards the ceiling, shouting out in common, "Oh houze spiritz ovz zhe dead. We mighty tribe, comez to use your kin-blooded home az territory! Byz the bloodz of the Dragons in our veinz, we ask that you respect our claim and show yourself!"

While Jorah is away, Marla will search through the main bar area for anything pertinent to the haunting.
Investigation: 9
Marla is a little worried about what she might have inadvertently set in motion, so she makes sure she has Detect Magic (as a ritual) up and running during their performance.
She inspects the markings enough to make sure they’re not accidentally effective in some manner, before sitting a waiting to see if there‘s any form of response...
As Marla searches through the bar area she struggles to find anything of much importance at first. After the previous days start to cleaning, much of the debris laying around has been removed from the area. Looking closley she catches a glint of light reflect off of a dusty gold coin. The coin is nailed to the wall behind the bar with a faded piece of parchment behind it. "Lif's first gold coin" it says in big black letters. There is a date written below it but is so warn and faded it cannot be read. You can tell that it is quite old however. Next to the coin is an old newspaper clipping. The clipping is of an article titled "Lif livens up Trollskull Alley!" with a picture of a strong young man standing in front of the manor you are standing in now. The body of the article is worn and almost impossible to read but you are able to piece together that the young man purchased the tavern with his life savings and is doing very well.
After finishing with the article you make your way around the tap room and stop near the front door. There is a small pile of debris gathered there to be thrown out from the recent cleaning done by yourself and your friends. Near that pile is a newspaper. The paper is still wrapped tightly as though it was never opened and is likley the last object placed in the tavern before the doors had been locked for good. This paper is many years newer than the article nailed to the wall. on the front page of the newspaper there is a headline and a picture. "Long Lif the king" As Marla reads the page and her eyes examine the picture her mind is suddenly flooded with the images from the night before. She immediately recognizes the picture in the paper as the old man from her vision. The picture is of Lif standing hunched over behind the bar with a smile on his face. It describes how Lif ran the trollskull tavern and manor for over fifty years. He was a cornerstone of the community and devoted his life to keeping the tavern up and running. It says that he left behind no wife or children. when asked why he chose never to settle down... said that running the tavern was his passion and that he always treated his patrons like they were his family. As Lif began to get older, he continued to work at the tavern every day that he died at the age of 85.
Spoiler for Marla
While Marla performs her investigation, the kobolds gather their items and prepare their ritual. When the kobolds begin their chant, Marla does notice anything at first but by the time the dancing has finished... her detect magic spell reveals to her a humanoid shape hovering above the kobolds. The figure appears to have roughly the same shape as the man from her vision and form the pictures she found...
The dagger begins to float up into the air as the Jorah begins his speech once the dancing is done. The dagger flies up and sticks into the rafters with a thud before it moves on its own.. Carving letters above their heads...
"MY LIFE, MY TERRITORY"
The dagger carves into the ceiling before the dagger suddenly flicks around and flies down into the floor between the kobolds. The blade sinks deep into the wood.
Marla spoiler pt. 2 the reckoning.
Marla sees the glowing figure disappear up through the ceiling as it moves up to the next floor.
Misha would do what she did best and use her little brain but big muscles to move debris outside. Wearing gloves, boots, pants, and a dirty tied up t-shirt, she spent the day lifting and hauling trash and other broken wood pieces outside. She would do this all day, working up quite the sweat, and only stopped to break to drink water. If needed, she would move furniture around, too.
The help from Flowers was most appreciated. Misha was so busy cleaning the first floor she was oblivious to what was going on on the second floor. Throwing out trash, moving furniture around, the leather gloves she wore gave her a good grip on things and moving stuff around gave her an incredible pump and appetite. She was only seen once stopping and wiping her forehead, clearing a good sheen of sweat she worked up.
She would look at Flowers occasionally while he helped her, trying not to laugh. He had a little powdered donut on his snoot.
Jorah seeing that his ritual totally worked, follows Marla and Alexa, lizard skull still on his head, to help chase the ghost. The rest of his tribe follows just after their brother, all excited to be chasing a ghost.
Misha, finishing up sweeping, pauses for a moment. Her face wrinkles in a smile as she looked up at the ceiling, wondering what's going on upstairs. She shrugs and keeps cleaning.

Jorah, curious to see Marla speaking draconic, replies in kind,
"Sure. Meet, Kip, Knob, Spike, Squat, Flip, and Dave. We already claimed the basement as our new home. But what about the rest of the territory?"
Anyone who speaks Draconic would realize that Jorah speaks it much more clearly than the thickly accented common he pushes through.
Marla smiles, and replies back in Draconic...
’We have a haunted house, but I don’t yet understand how it’s haunted, and how we can bring peace to the ghosts, so you need to be careful - it could be dangerous if we disturb things too much. Let me know if you find anything unusual, or related to children. I think it might be important...’
