Xerronios smiles a tight smile. Hunting was one thing he knew about. "You hunt sharks like you hunt all predators...with bait." He smiles becomes decidedly wolf-like.
Goin' on a Shark Hunt I'm not afraid It's a beautiful day The sun is shining The fish are swimming The crabs are scrabbling
What's that? Flowing water
Going on a Shark Hunt I'm not afraid
What's that? It's a tall spire
Going on a Shark hunt I'm not afraid
What's that? Ohh, it's mud
Going on a SharkHunt I'm not afraid
What's that? It's deep blue sea We're going to have to swim
Going on a Shark Hunt I'm not afraid
What's that? Ohh it's a dark cave
I can't see anything I can feel something I can hear something We better take out our lanterns
Oh it's a Shark Strike!

"What do we have we can use as bait? If we've nothing else, I'll volunteer."
"Hmm... I had thought it merely to be dolphins being playful, but a pod of them were harassing a shark, and driving it away from your city. Perhaps that pod was sent by the gods, to allow us to bring you aid," Ritha muses.
A moment of reflection and prayer confirms that belief. "Yes, indeed, this is Thassa's will. We were sent to aid you, and should work quickly to supply your city with whatever it needs to allow for your swift and fruitful recovery. If doing so lures this shark-beast back towards the town, then that is all the better for us... it will save us the trouble of having to hunt it down," she says.
Looking at the others, she feels her duty as a priestess of Thassa's bounty rising within her. She tries to squash the desire to hand out imperious commands -- this is not her temple, after all -- and rather phrases her thoughts as suggestions, instead. "Perhaps Kassiopeia should coordinate with the ship above to send food and supplies to these people. Others could help with the transportation as well. I feel that Kanlos and I at the least should make a perimeter around the town to keep watch for the return of this shark. And if possible, we should have a plan to herd it somewhere where it will cause the least destruction to this city and its people when we do battle."
She looks to the Elder for advice. "Would there be anywhere in particular you would suggest that we should try to trap this shark?"
"Praise be to Thassa." The elder says, as do many of the villagers. "I pray it is not too late though, as we have little to no food left, and our fish schools are either run off or eaten by the shark." The elder says. "For trapping or hunting the shark..." The elder looks confused. "If Thassa had her divine servants run it off, why do you presume it would return?"
Io decides to answer the question with, "No reason for me to think it will or won't. However, I would rather try to hunt it down and kill it so that it has no chance of ever returning. Also do not worry about food for now, we have supplies in the ship that we can spare."
"It has learned the taste of flesh. If we do not stop it now, it may search for other villages to hunt, and terrorize them as well. It would be best if we stop this shark before it affect anyone else, for the entire ocean is our community," Ritha says.
"Also, Revered Elder," Xerronios interjects from the window. "The goddess may have driven off the shark to give us a chance to get food to you. There is no guarantee it will not return. In her wisdom, she did not have it killed. Perhaps that is the task she has left to us."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
„Looks like a bad day to be a shark.“ Kassiopeia mumbles to herself.
( how good is the visibility down here? At what distance can we spot the enemy? ... and how is the surrounding terrain? Any obstacles the shark could use to hide in or approach unseen? )
“Eat or be eaten ... that is the natural order of things ... I‘d rather eat.“
Kassiopeia joins Xerronios at the window to study the outside.
„How is our rope situation? We‘ll need a lot of rope to make this work.“
Pulling a rope from her backpack „I got one.“
“Here is my Idea: ... getting ahead of myself ... sorry“ she stops mid-sentence and takes the four rations from her backpack handing them to the elder.
„Please distribute to the most needy.“
Turning back to the group: „As I was saying: idea: we swim back up and tie as many ropes together as we can find. We tie the supplies to the rope and dive back down. I‘ll guide the supply-chain while you look out for the shark. If we get down safely, we‘ll just real in the supplies and do it again.“
„If the shark attacks we can fight it and we can even let go of the supplies without the risk of them scattering across the ocean floor. If it stays away the village should have enough to survive for at least a couple of days and we can search the shark without a risk to the villagers.“
Kanlos looks at her for a moment, "Wouldn't it be easier to just escort the villagers up to get the supplies themselves while we keep an eye out for the shark? That way, if it shows up, attracted by the movement, we'll be ready to fight it off, if it doesn't show up, then the villagers get the food they need all at once and we can return to the ship and be on our way."
The Leonine bard considers the problem for several moments, considering the ideas of his companions. "Kassiopeia, are you suggesting some sort of line down which the supplies can drop? That might work but you're right that it would take a lot of rope. However, Kanlos' idea of the villagers just doing it themselves seems much more efficient. However," he says, turning to the scout, "I do not like the idea of escorting them. If the shark attacks we have to hope they do not scatter in panic, giving the shark many different targets to choose and then having to defend multiple targets. Aside from Ritha, none of us are in our natural environment and though the magic of the staff helps us, the shark is still a fearsome predator in its natural environment."
He stops, remembering the amount of supplies, adding the time it took to swim, subtracting a bit for the superior swimming abilities of the Tritons. ooc: Intelligence 4. Trying to estimate how long to get the supplies down.
"Perhaps, as Kassiopeia suggests, we can bring down enough supplies to last long enough for us to deal with the shark, though I think it will be faster and ultimately safer to simply swim the supplies down."
Io says, "Why not focus on one issue at a time? We have our own rations with us. Why not give the villagers what we have in our packs for the time being so they have a slight amount of food as opposed to no food. While they are eating those, we focus on using some rope, not even long enough rope to get all the way down, to bait the shark out. We kill the shark and then we get the villagers to take the rest of the supplies themselves."
"Io, why do we need rope to bait the shark? And, again, what do we use as bait? I am happy to serve in that function as dealing with this shark is clearly why the goddess and fate brought us here. I will gladly share my food with the villagers." And, suiting, actions to words, hands all of his food to the village elders. "But this will buy them a day, at most. Six people simply don't carry enough food."
"Of course we will assist in any way we can," Ritha says, also handing over her seven rations to help with the supplies. "If the villagers themselves have been weakened from a lack of food, they may not have the stamina required to transport the goods down here on their own. I agree that we should take it upon ourselves to do most of the work to bring the supplies down. Of course, I am sure that if it concerns the safety and survival of the village, the people themselves will be able to provide us with assistance, even should it be simply in the form of additional rope. At any rate, we should ascend to the surface again to let our ship know of the situation here. They may also have a method of safely delivering the supplies that we have not thought of... and the crew will need to bring the supplies up from the hold in any case before anything can be done."
Kanlos shrugs, "I didn't actually bring my food down here with me as I didn't want it to get wet and spoil. But I'm willing to help out however I can, whether its shark hunting or food hauling."
Xerronios smiles a tight smile. Hunting was one thing he knew about. "You hunt sharks like you hunt all predators...with bait." He smiles becomes decidedly wolf-like.
