Io looks up at the Harpies and flicks the visor of his helmet done. As it falls to place with a clack, a ghostly hand covered in blue flame is already on its way towards one of the Harpies overhead. Io points to an empty space next to the same Harpy the hands are closing in on and the whirlwind of three ghostly sickles materializes there, slashing the Harpy in the process.

Xerronios moves to a nearby boulder, crouching to give himself cover from any swooping attacks, at least from some directions. The harpies were too far away for the spell he planned to use but he could wait. They would undoubtedly come closer.
Pulling out his lute, he looks around at the surrounding rocks to see if his plan is a safe one. Then he begins strumming the opening notes to Leonine battle-hymn, "O' the grass does wave in the breeze, the foes do wait at us to strike/in our grasp they will a'soon squeeze, soon like the dead they will be like!" The hymn goes on, devolving into something gruesomely funny.

Io's shield and armor is able to protect him from most of the harpies' attacks. Still they get a peck here, a scratch there through. Normally these injuries are minor but a lot of minor injuries can prove problematic. This seems to be the case with him. Still he is undeterred. He continues to knock his opponents out of the sky. The whirlwind of blades comes closer to him, slashing at a one of the foul creatures attacking him. Then he holds his holy simple up and sends a ringing shock wave through the

Another of the attacks get through Io's defenses out of the many that bounce off his shield. The attacks don't go unpunished though as the harpies find themselves in the whirlwind of ghostly blades.
