Kanlos turns to his companions, "Before we get too carried away, can someone get word to the captain that its dangerous, but we should be able to get supplies here?"
"That's a good idea," Xerronios says. Pulling out a sheet of paper he jots a note to the captain explaining the situation. Then he gives it to Zircan to carry to the ship and then come back.
With the note to the ship taken care of, you need only decide what you wish to do next.
The woman shrugs at Io. "My only lead is the stranger in the cave to the North. Which is why I suggested looking into it, and offering you good coin to do so."
Kanlos shrugs, "I'm good to go whenever everyone else is. But if we're likely facing undead, is there anything we should be bringing with us to aid our fight? I'm more used to fighting the living."
"We tend to wish to protect our undead friends, not fight them." The woman says with a shrug. "I imagine you would know more of that sort of thing than I would." She ushers you out of her inn and back to the street. "Remember, you can stay here free of charge, as long as you are on the island."
(If you are taking a short or long rest, you can do so in the inn, I just am not sure what you have planned.)
Windlass is fine with a short rest. She calls upon her familiar, an owl, and feeds it some morsels from her rations. She sends it off with instructions to reconnoiter the area around the cave, and then return to her. She'll toggle in and out of his eyes and ears from time to time. If asked, she says he does not want a name, and she has not tried to bestow one.
Windlass, the cave is too far to see through your owl's senses. It can go there and then report back, likely will take an hour to get there and back, so the short rest can be done as that happens.
Windlass's owl returns after a bit over an hour. It reports in that the cave is at the top of a mountain path. The ascent looks steep, but something you can manage without any climbing gear. It does look wild though, not used often until recently. The owl would spot wildlife, lions, monkeys, and even hippogriffs as it scouts out the cave entrance.
You start your way up the path the owl scouted. With Kanlos in the lead you make good time. About 1/3 way up you take a short break before moving onward. Need a second survival check...

Xerronios looks around. "Shall we check it out? After we rest a bit, first."

Ok, are we sending a familiar to scout, or should I just have the group leave town and arrive at the cave?
I'm good to just go.
Xerronios would prefer a long rest but at least a short rest.

Io takes a look at Xerrinos and says, "Perhaps a short rest would be for the best."

Windlass reports this to the others, and prepares to move along after the short rest.
Kanlos takes the lead, ranging ahead to find the safest path and keep an eye out for anything hostile.

Io places a hand on the shoulder of whoever is making the check and says, "May Athreos' guidance be upon us."
Casting Guidance on whoever is making the Survival.
Kanlos, happy to be off the boat and back in his element, even if only for a while, takes the lead and continues to guide the group.
