Quietly, Morgan responds to Gale as they follow Panana further into the cave complex, "Back on earth I had my fair share of engineering friends. I know the type."

"Good job. Wish I knew enough about that to give helpful tips... Maybe in our next job I can help someone with their bookkeeping." He laughed. As long as the job got done, it didn't really matter if he couldn't contribute as much. Besides, last job, he was the one to persuade that old woman to come with them.
Panana guides you through more of this cave system, which, with every turn, feels more and more like a maze. She leads you pass one part that leads to the outside, before taking you down the opposite way. After a few more minutes, you find yourselves at a room with a 10ft cliff in front of you. The floor is clear of anyone, but on top of the ledge are two gnomes.
The first one shouts something in gnomish, then the second repeats in common. "HALT! WHO GOES THERE!?"
The gnome who spoke common leaves their post and heads down. The other starting you down from above. Panana mutters under her breath. "Now you've done it."
Leareth grinned at the little gnome as he approached. "I'm just joking around with you. We're friends - you can see Panana with us so no need for alarm. We're helpful people - my friend here already helped your engineers there. The town of Phandalin sent us." He hooked a thumb over his shoulder in the general direction they came from. "We'd like to speak with your leader, please."
Gale pauses as Leareth makes light of the situation hoping the gnomes know they are just here to help. He quietly and cautiously looks around to take in the surroundings.

The gnome eyes you up and down. "No offense to Panana here, but she's the one who let the monster in here to begin with. I need to make sure you are who you say you are. It's common knowledge (ooc: not really) that this monster can't help but attack when attacked." He then quickly jumps up and slaps Leareth across the face. (1 damage)
"Lots of people can't help but attack when attacked. That's a poor test of who's a monster. Now, watch this, I'm going to show you how to be a class act. Ready?" He folded his arms across his chest. "See, I told you we were helpful. I hope you put this lesson to good use."
At the mention of monster, Gale's ears perk up just when Morgan asks if it was the dragon. He'd not seen any signs of a dragon, but then again, this would be his first. He took a long look around the area and tried to size up this new gnome.

"Dragon? What dragon? I'm talking about the shifter!" He eyes you all down then continues. "If you want to speak with the boss, take care of this shifter for us. It was last seen in our wine room. Panana will show you the way."
Catching on relatively quickly, Morgan says, "Well, I would ask you what it looks like, but I am guessing that won't help with a description like 'shifter'. Are there any other identifying characteristics of this creature other than it must retaliate when attacked? Any way we can alter ourselves that it can't match so we can tell if it tries to copy the appearance of one of us?"
The gnome continues: "Well, it appears to only copy items, so I wouldn't say you're too at risk of it copying you, but as I said, if you go poking around. I'm sure you'll find it." He then points you back the way you came. "The wine room is back that way."

Hmm...Does Morgan have any mysterious knowledge of such a creature that can mimic the appearance of objects, perhaps granted by his untapped divine insight?

You aren't sure how, but you have knowledge of such a creature. You are aware that the creature is called a mimic. You know that they can usually only get the appearance of objects and that it has some very sticky juices that it uses to get and keep prey in its grasp.
Speaking quietly but with assurance, Morgan says, "It sounds like you have a mimic infestation. Hopefully it is only one. In addition to being able to flawlessly take on the appearance of objects, they have some very sticky juices they use for trapping prey. We should be very careful."
Looking to the others, he says, "It seems like we have found the favor to do for the gnomes, and hopefully they will return it with an item we can use for Phandalin's problem. What say you all, shall we proceed?"
