"Hmmm." No clever ideas came to his mind. "We might have to employ restraints in extreme short term, but first what brought this on? Just a single mimic in the wine cellar or more to it?"
"So what other rumors are there of ways to detect the shapeshifters? Perhaps we could prove we are not shapeshifters in some way and help you in your diagnosis of this affliction," suggests Randall.
"And did I just mishear, or do you have multiple kings?" he asks in addition.
"We are unaware of any other ways of identifying them. I heard your friend say there was one in the wine room? How do you know it was in the wine room?" Dabble asks, looking at you curiously.
"Well, we found it there and killed it, body should still be there... Shapeshifters copy appearance but not memories or knowledge, so that might be a good way to find them. Let the King ask everyone something only they would know."
Dabbledob: "Well, you're more than welcome to try and talk to the king. Maybe he'll listen to you, especially since you have proof. If you want, I'll send someone out to get the mimic while you try and talk to the King."
Gales eyes widen and he looks at Morgan and nods. "Yeah, I heard that too." Turning toward the gnomes Gale queries the two, "So, Dabledob, did I hear you correctly? The mad King has King Gnerkil chained up? Are the two kings locked in a room together? Is King Gnerkil still in his right frame of mind?"

"Is there someone close to King Korboz that may be able to talk him down?" Gale asks, then scratches his head to think about the situation. "Or perhaps a treat he would enjoy?" Gale thinks back to that wine. He really wanted a sample of that wine. "Perhaps he was fond of the wine from the cask room where we slayed the shape shifter? Maybe we could persuade him to walk back to the wine room with us to see that everything is fine now?"

”In my research, I have known mimics to only take on the appearance of items or structures, not specific living beings. Perhaps the king is right, and we are dealing with a true shapeshifter. I know some who change shape react poorly to pure silver, but I must think about how best to use that information,” says Morgan, thinking about some wasted hours in his youth watching werewolf shows, but trying to tap into this strange otherworldly knowledge afforded him in this new land.

"But the guard back there said it came in shifted into a person which is why they were on guard against strangers?" Leareth scratches his head. "If the king is acting weird, could he actually be the shapeshifter?"
"Well, I think we may as well go talk to this king. Maybe we can resolve this with words." It was about the only way they could resolve it without fighting. "I will suggest to him that he could determine who is a shapeshifter by asking questions only the real deal would know the answer to. What do you guys think?"
As you discuss this, Dabbledob assumes you're going to talk to the King and walks ahead of you. "Right this way please." She motions you all to follow. She guides you through a couple halls. Before long, you find yourselves at a large stone door. Intricate Gnomish designs are carved into it. Dabbledob begins to bang on the door. "King Korboz!" Dabbledob shouts.
(I apologize everyone. Whole family got sick with the flu.)
"I, uh, have a confession to make. Ever since we got here, I have been getting flashes of insight. I am not sure how, but I KNOW things about this world that I have no way of knowing from my own personal experience," says Morgan, trying to explain and explore his new knowledges.
"One such flash of insight--there are three types of shapechangers. The mimic, like we saw, can only take the form of objects, not people. Lycanthropes can take the form of animals and hybrid forms. Changelings and dopplegangers can take the form of anyone they wish. If one of the kings is being impersonated by one such as this, we should find some pure iron implements--they are vulnerable to that material," relates Morgan.
Realizing he has been gripping the pendant on his necklace as he spoke, Morgan pulls it out and looks at it...a silver scroll that pulls at him somehow, like something from a dream.

Dabbledob turns to Morgan as he lists his knowledge of shapechangers. "That is quite a bit of knowledge, but lucky for you, I don't think that is the case. I don't think he's concerned that someone has been impersonated. I think he just refuses to believe the... Mimic as you call it. I think he refuses to believe the Mimic is dead. Convince him of that and I think he'll let us in and let the other king go."
Dabbledob gives off a nod and scurries off. While you wait, you still don't get an answer from a king. However you do here noises coming from the other side. They don't sound like fighting noises. Just miscellaneous noises. Huffs, grunts, etc.
I also forgot to note, that on your way here. You passed a hallway that led to a cliff that looked to overlook the room you found Dabbledob in. A few feet from the edge of the cliff, is a pedestal with a closed book resting ontop of it.
"Hey did you guys notice that pedestal way down that hall?" Gale asks. "There looked to be some sort of book on it. Generally I might not take notice but being in a semi hostile environment here, I think it may be worth a look. May be some history, maps, who knows." He looks around. "I'm going to check it out. You guys wanna come? Depending on what's in it I figure three heads are better, you know?"
Leareth shrugs. "Might as well." He turned to the gnome. "Can you please bring the mimic's corpse here so we can show it to the king? We'll be right back"
(The gnome is already off getting it.) As you both leave to look at the book, Morgan and Geralt wait to hear from the King. As Gale and Leareth back track, they quickly find the book, sitting on top of a pedestal.
Morgan: Shortly after they leave, you hear from the other side of the door. "Hello, yes, who is it!"

"We think so. But this single mimic killed a couple of us already. So I think that in combination with the mimic put him over the edge."
