Merry sips her milk, and leans over the bar, mimicking his behaviour, all the while very confused, I believe I might be a bit preoccupied for that, but what kind of business?
Merry looks to Arnnon and back at the innkeeper, Very good point actually... She then takes a second to process what he’s said, frowning, After all, I don’t think I have any experience tending to an inn ...I’d run your business into the ground!
Merry has clearly missed what Arnnon was implying. She looks genuinely confused by the whole exchange.
Unless... do I know you good sir? I’m afraid my memory is a tad foggy and I may or may not have forgotten old acquaintances.Merry says, looking deeply apologetic.
You spend the night without incident. In the morning you all awake refreshed and ready to start the journey on to Womford. The barkeep is nowhere to be seen.
Coal will ask around to see if anyone remembers seeing the missing caravan and if anyone saw where the bar keep went as his behaviour is very suspicious. investigation 8
Rollo nods in thanks to Nibor. As they work they’re way around, helping and talking Rollo explains that he has been sent by his order to help find the body of a knight that was missing when the caravan disappeared, and complete its journey to Summit Hall.
Hmm, I understand. Forgive my asking Rollo, but when you say body do you mean this caravan was transporting the body of this Knight? Or there is some link between this Knight and this caravan disappearance you mentioned?
Hearing Summit Hall sounds familiar to Nibor but he cannot place from where, furthermore hearing Rollo mention his order piques his curiosity. However he does not wish to appear insensitive, enjoying Rollo's companionship he doesn't question further, instead pondering where he heard Summit Hall before:

Coal and Merry do the rounds of the bar. The patrons are extremely distrustful and hesitant to even really exchange pleasantries. Merry attracts enough attention from a table full of young men that they actually listen to some of Coal's questions: they work in a local cartwright's shop and they are able to tell you the caravan definitely didn't pass through Bargewright.
Nibor and Rollo weave in and out of the early morning bustle, dodging horses and hungover guards on patrol. Spending time with the caravaners, Rollo learns that the news of the disappearance of this caravan has started to spread.
"They were very well armed."
"If they didn't make it, what chance do I have?"
"I've had to pay some of the unsavoury types here to escort me, barely going to make anything on this shipment"
After having his demeanour softened by some free repairs from Nibor, one particularly shady caravaner (that Rollo has correctly discerned is a smuggler) offers to take them all to Womford for free, short journey though it is, as it will help ensure he is protected from reavers as they cross the river at the Ironford.
What?! The boss is gone? Oh no, oh no, oh no. That means that terror of a head guard is going to be in charge of... Dammit, why didn't he warn us?
There is the low rumble of chaos among the staff as word is passed from one to another. Some shouting follows from the kitchens. The sound causes a few doors to open and who walks down the stairs but the innkeeper, who Arnnon has found out is called Nalaskur Thaelond, looking very very very hungover.
What the hell is happening?! Shut uuuuup!!
He is brought up to speed and turns to Arnnon. You lot again? Look, I really can't be dealing with this prying this morning. I was going to go to Waterdeep on business but I put it off until I can get someone to watch the place. Happy?
After touching base with each other you hop on the smugglers cart and trundle across the river to Womford. It's a very short journey and for all the time it takes you to get there you're not really sure why he needed guarding. But it was free and you were comfortable.
On the journey, the smuggler gives you a bit of info about Womford.
It's a tiny village with a dock on the Dessarin River for shipping the grain from its grist mill. It is also the local supply and market for the surrounding farms from which the grain comes. Aside from the mill, the village consists of a handful of granaries and a larger handful of cottages, several of which house tiny local shops.
From what I hear, the village was known as Ironford until a dragon was slain nearby. Passers-by began to call the settlement “Wyrm Ford,” a name subsequently corrupted, thanks to the thick local accent, into “Womford.”
You part ways with the smuggler. There are a few people in the streets and you can see a couple of small boats and skiffs tied up at the dock back toward the river you just crossed.
Ah Merry, how kind of you! I did indeed yes, as I understand there was a fellow selling a peculiar set of Dwarven tomes spotted hereabouts and my curiosity got the better of me! I planned to poke around the shops here to see if what I can learn of them or find the chap! I would be most grateful of your company if you would care to join me!
Gesturing to the rest of the group
Indeed, if any of you care to join please feel free!
That being said, I understand you all may be on some quest of your own? I would not wish to keep you all from that or intrude. Once I see what I can find of those tomes I'd be happy to offer my assistance if it would help you in your expedition at all. You've done me a great service getting me this far, I feel it is the least I could do!

Well it was a group room, your....associate was keen on having the place to himself.
The barkeep leaves them a round of whatever everyone is having. He looks at her through his brows and speaks in a low voice.
You're not busy are you? Wouldn't want to watch the Inn for two weeks while I attend to some business?
Merry sips her milk, and leans over the bar, mimicking his behaviour, all the while very confused, I believe I might be a bit preoccupied for that, but what kind of business?
Coal scoops up an ale and wanders over to a quiet corner before getting out his tinkers tools and fiddling with some components.
Arnnon steps forward Now why would you leave your business in the hands of someone you e only just met?

Never mind, must have you confused with someone else. Enjoy your stay.
He turns his attention away to another customer and pretends he can't see you any more.

investigation 8
Merry comes down from the room, a little groggy, but sees Coal asking questions and follows suit, speaking to the various patrons.
Investigation 12
Rollo roams outside, listening in and speaking to anyone who seems to be in the caravan business
investigation 21
Nibor catches Rollo on the way out, eager to see more of this place and ingratiate himself with his travelling companion
Good morning friend Rollo, mind if I join you?
Nibor chats with the caravaners while Rollo investigates, helping load goods and checking their wagons, casting Mending on any loose fixings, etc
Rollo nods in thanks to Nibor. As they work they’re way around, helping and talking Rollo explains that he has been sent by his order to help find the body of a knight that was missing when the caravan disappeared, and complete its journey to Summit Hall.

Arnnon approaches the staff at the inn You’re boss seemed to depart very suddenly and very swiftly, any idea as to where he went?
