Character Name: Felix Character Class: Monk (Kensei) Character Race: Shadar-kai Backstory:
Felix grew up amongst others of his kind in the Shadowfell, a servant of the Raven Queen near the Fortress of Memories. He trained in the sword and bow, an Exemplar chosen to defend the honor of the Shadar-kai. Chosen as one of the Raven Guard, he was being trained to become one of the Archmages' guardians. He fought in the gladiatorial pits, to prove his worth and earn the attention of one of the Archmagi, hoping to earn the rank of Praetor, the highest honor for a warrior such as himself.
However, before he could earn his way to the entourage of one of the Archmagi, he awoke in a tavern, clearly absent from the Shadowfell.
Backstory: Urgoth was born into a tribe of orcs that were known to be smarter then the others around them, having even beaten the other orc and goblin tribes into submission through their use of magic. What gave them their greatest advantage was the work of Urgoth's grandfather Rekbek. Rekbek managed to spy on a group of high elves that were practicing their blade song. Over several years of doing this the orc was able to develop their own version of blade song. While it was not as elegant as the elven version, the orc version was able to work through war chants and dances.
From a young age Urgoth showed great skill in magic and was slotted to learn the orc Bladesong, being taken under the wing of his grandfather since he wanted to show that his family were the best at it since it was they who had created it. Urgoth eventually found that the skills he learned from his people while effective was not nearly as good as what the elves were able to achieve. With this in mind he decided to force an elf to teach him, wanting to become a master of Bladesinging so he could see his teacher properly learn.
Cuan is a flamboyant entertainer who has lately fallen in with a band of traveling minstrels during his wanderings through the Dalelands. Last night he was sliding down a trellis after a torrid encounter with the mayor's daughter and running off into the night. Between the booze and the physical exertion, he doesn't remember if he made it back to the tavern where the musicians were staying, but he must have -- because here he was, waking up in yet another tavern. Ah well, might as well go sing for his...breakfast?
He has simple ambitions, to enjoy life and become a performer of great renown. Cuan lives in the moment and rolls with the punches, but he has a good heart and helps people where he can--as long as he can have fun doing it.
Character Name: Ellirea "Elli" Character Class: Paladin (Ancients) Character Race: Half-Elf Backstory: Though human blood runs through her veins, Elli considers herself more Fey than even most of her Elven cousins dare to. As a young teenager she would often wander from the enclaves of the Misty Forest, sometimes spending weeks among just the trees and animals. It was on one such trip that she found herself more lost than usual. The creatures of the woods became stranger, whimsical even, and no matter how many hours passed the sky remained in perpetual twilight.
She had come to the Feywild.
The Elves of the Misty Forest had never truly welcomed her it felt like. The Fey denizens, Eladrin among them, that she met were much more kind to her. Though strange, particularly before she became accustomed to the cultural quirks of the Feywild.
She found her place among the Fey first as a page to a knight of the Seelie Court, then as a squire into a fully fledged knight . Though the orders of the prime material plane would not consider her as such. Virtuousness, selflessness, and humility mean little to her. Instead, the Fey order she serves exalts cleverness, grace, and wit.
Despite her success, and the reassurances of her closest companions that she's where she belongs, Elli is endlessly compelled to prove her worth to the Court.
Character Name: Rhys Blackmoor Character Class: Warlock Character Race: Human (v) Backstory:
The world I come from is dying, or maybe it's already dead and we just haven't noticed yet. Our gods have long since gone, destroyed by some eldritch horror perhaps - or maybe they just got sick of us and left. Plagues, famine, and war ravages all lands. The stars seemed to have faded away, and even the sun has dimmed to glowering red orb in the sky.
There are those wealthy enough to hide away in high walled cities, escaping from the grim reality of the world in an endless cycle of corruption, parties, and whatever substances they can get their hands on. But try as they might, even they can't ignore the monsters that lurk the wilds now. Their raised bridges and tall barriers are little match for those abominations. Just half a season ago Draes Nora fell; once the shining capital of high elven culture, now turned into a rotted ruin, crawling with dark creatures that defy all nature.
As for me? I contracted myself to the first non-psycho-homicidal being I could find for protection, and it's been an alright deal so far. Now I don't really have much in the way of emotional connections to this place. I know it's too late for us, but I keep hanging on. Think I'm just afraid of actually dying is all.
Grendor is from the Red Mountains of a somewhat isolated Dwarven community. His job in particular was one of loneliness: he was a surface dweller and watchman. He herded sheep, and played his bagpipes through the empty peaks, often justified in the belief that he would never sound the warning bells for as long as he lived.
It took him by surprise when the enemy came. Spindly, long legged lizard men with an eye on a kingdom that had grown lax. Grendor doesn’t know where they came from. It seemed absurd to think they had traveled so far to reach the Red Mountains. But they did, and he sounded the alarm. But he couldn’t remain, they chased him from the very walls, and deep into the mountain forests. Grendor fell down a deep ravine, and slid into a cave. He looked up. Saw a water droplet fall into a perfectly still pond. Then he was in the tavern. No recollection of how he’d arrived.
Grendor wants to get back. He loves his people, and traditions, and even though he gripes, he likes his kingdom, too. Most of all, he wishes to return for Isolde. She is a dwarf warrior, and distant cousin to the king of the Red Mountains. He was not allowed to court her, but they had always had a connection, and he needs to get back. He needs to get back to her in the right way, too, with honor intact.
Character Name: "Threadbare" Tums Character Class: Aberrant Mind Sorcerer Character Race: Tabaxi Backstory: "The sideroofs speaks to us Yarny. Tells us you crochet a rug of lies. Lies are not good, they hurt the dustbunnies.. makes their little fibertummies shake and jiggle all bad-like. No lies, please. Pull the string. Rug goes wowewoewoew, and there is a camel of truth behind it. Camel feet whisper truths. Truths are nice, they make for good sugar in out tea, right Yarny?"Tums is from a desert country called Pexia (part of my own homebrew world). He used to be a merchant of fine fabrics once. Until he stepped on a black glass needle. As the needle pierced his pawlike he felt something stir within him. As if reality is only a carpet and this needle was a loose thread. A thread you can pull and see reality unravel before you. Keeping the needle for himself he brought it home and used it with a thin spool of yarn, because of course thats what you do with a sowing needle you find in a back alley. Thats when it hit him. This spool and needle, it spoke! Only Tums hear Yarny, but they have deep conversations together about how water really is the ancient pee of forgotten gods and that Tums doesn't need to take another shower for at least half a week more... When they're not having their conversations Yarny urges Tums to find secrets. Any secrets will do. Secrets are bad, pull them out into the light. UNRAVEL THE RUG. PULL THE STRINGS. SHOW US THE GOOSE BEHIND THE CURTAIN!. (Yarny, the spool and needle functions as his arcane focus) Sheet Link: https://ddb.ac/characters/39898096/JT3aEz
