Xing is on a horse about the same size of Feng’s and gives Feng an eye squint. Xing gives the low rumbling sound of horses running, almost like he’s revving up something.

Mentioned earlier that Hadran was going to talk (quickly) with a few of the bored guards, after leaving the stalls and before riding out of town.
His charisma sucks, so nothing fancy. Ask about the trading outpost north of town. Lie a tiny bit to not be too suspicious. ("We were hired to go to the Scar Valley, but will need a place to rest. We see a trading outpost on the map. Is that a good place to recover and resupply?")... Don't want to distract them from their duties, whatever they think would be useful, and here is half a bottle of wine since they look thirsty... Just try to find out who is there now, and if there were recent troubles. Or maybe if the town guards have any plans in the near future to take the place back. Then thank them and move on.

Alexander let out a quiet chuckle as he watched the Goliath try and be intimidating. It was odd, you would think someone that large would be imposing, but he came off goofier than anything else. it was actually a little endearing, almost like a boy from the country coming into the city and thinking his farmhand antics would be successful.
"Alright guys, once the Elf gets back I say we ride out. Everyone got food and things for the next few days? I would be lying if I said I was the hunting type." He inquired, trying not laugh to hard at Xing's antics. He was enjoying the way the party looked, it definitely didn't seem like the next week or so would be boring.
“Sure, I know how to hunt. Been in these wilds for all my life.- Such a pretty young man like yourself shouldn’t need to worry about that.” Xing says to Alex with what he assumes to be a sarcastic smile... it’s hard to tell with the beak really.

"Don't know how to hunt too well but I know how to fish; just need a pole and some water. Speaking of water I can create some magic water if the needs arrive while we are out."
If I am guaranteed a long rest before we get to the outpost, I could use Goodberry and Create or Destroy Water, which should be enough for a short trip.

DM OOC: When it comes to travel you just need to track rations.
Hadran Finds a few bored guards by the gate, they happily accept the conversation. A big guard takes charge of the chat.
"Ah the old trading point that is not a good place to go it's been overrun by monsters and there's a smell permeating the place that knock out a giant. Probably monster shit."
"Watch out, now. Keep talking sweet to me like that and you might find yourself to be the hunted." Alexander stated, winking over at Xing. He nodded at the others as he passed them, it being far from his first time on horseback. He saw Hadran off in the distance, coincidentally along the path leading out of the town, and so he made his way over to him.
"Do you have any background on what happened to the trading post? We know it's overrun, but have no idea what happened to put it in that condition." He asked the guards, overhearing part of the conversation. He really did not want to get surprised at this place.
Hadran fills up the guard's tin cups with the wine, and is relieved to have Alexander take over the conversation. (Always such an effort to make small talk with people who will be among the first to die, in the dark days ahead.)

"What does it matter anymore? What's done is done. Our job is to clear it of those creatures. There's not much a big hammer cannot fix. And if a hammer doesn't work that's why Valkur gave me magic."
Donar will move to the front of the group prepared to lead and navigate us to the outpost.
"Hmmm. Anyone around here get a good enough glimpse at these creatures to help us figure out what they might be? We're gonna go take care of the problem over there, but want to be as prepared as possible." He commented, looking down at the guards. It had been a little while since he had last had comrades to help him out, and it was starting to feel pretty good.
"And Donar, while I very much appreciate your willingness to jump into the face of one of these monsters, it never hurts to prepare."
OOC: Don't get to worried, the Druid would probably try to save the bird over the devil person :P
"Oh they were nasty buggers of all sizes and shapes some were a bit like dogs, others were more human-like goblins maybe and apparently there were some strange creatures skulking in the dunes around the outpost."

Definitely. Might even put saving the bird ahead of smiting the devil person.
(Those voices from nature keep nagging about destroying the fiendish evil that is arising. Already got that message the first thousand times it was mentioned. Wish they would shut up once in a while.)

"Hmmmm. That's good to know. Thank you very much, gentlemen. When we get back, you should come drink with us. First drink is on me!" He exclaimed, smiling as he spoke. While the information he had received was broad, it was enough for him to know to keep an eye out for pretty much anything... Particularly around the dunes.
"Alright, team. Unless anyone has something left to do around here, lets hit it." The Tiefling stated, waiting for the others to get ready to leave. He wanted to place himself near the back of the marching order, but if possible, not all the way in the back. He wasn't the most resilient, after all, so being in the back of an ambush wasn't his idea of a fun time.

OOC: How strict are you on travel, DM? Will we need to be tracking water (or just rations, or neither)?

Xing just squints at Alex and returns to riding next to Feng, distraught that his condition hurts his sarcasm.

The guard knocks back the wine and says.
"Nobody knows how it was overrun all who lived there disappeared overnight and then the creatures appeared."

"Yeah ... I'm not worried about normal monsters. It's any weird demon mind stuff that bothers me," says Feng.
Feng is used to the wilds. More than the rest of these guys, I'd imagine - heck, I was born and live out there.
"But it doesn't hurt to learn things." He looks down at the guards from atop his horse. "Any scrap of a rumor you can tell us might help."

"Right." Feng nudges his horse forward toward the front of the group.
OOC: Who's navigator? I'm decent at a few things, but probably le druid or cleric is the better choice there. I am half decent at stealth, though.
