Silthras nods in thanks, "Good advice. I should not think out loud quite so much." He stares at the body on the ground again, "Damned thing had me rattled."
As he starts to wrap the body in blankets he turns back to Paten, "Don't suppose you'd have some spare rope? Or twine for cooking? Something to tie it with. I don't really want to tear up your fine blankets to make ties."
After the body is wrapped, he places the child's remains in another blanket.
"Velyra, can you do anything to stop this horror rotting? I've seen important people preserved after falling in battle. Not sure what it requires though." He wrinkles his nose, "This thing is likely to stink before we get back."
When he is done he pulls his kerchief from his sleeve, and starts methodically wiping himself and his armour down, then cleaning the kerchief, and repeating the process until he is as clean as possible. "No sense scaring the natives" he says with a smile, offering the clean kerchief to Kal, so he can look a little less gruesome as well.
When all is done, he cleans as much of the room as possible, replaces his kerchief and takes a deep breath. "Paten, I think we are done here. Though I guess the lad needs burning?"
Velyra offers a half shrug in response. "Give me a few hours to meditate on it and make the proper preparations, then I can do it. You'll all need to take the first few watches in my place though."
She'll do her best to help wrap the monstrosity, running downstairs to retrieve rope from her pack at the suggestion from Silthras.
"I can see to the boy's rites. Was there a particular faith he followed?" She asks, looking towards the councilman.
The councilman grunts, nodding with an understanding look. "I think I'd be a bit more than rattled facing that thing down."
Both the body of the undead creature, and what remains of Reiner are wrapped in blankets and secured with a few lengths of rope. For what it's worth, Paten does his best to help Silthras clean the mess up with any unused blankets. "As far as I'm aware lady priest, there was no particular deity he followed. I'm sure his spirit will find its way with whatever guidance you can offer it."
He lets out a long sigh, looking downcast. "I don't think there's enough left of him to come back, and I'd not want to risk leaving the inn tonight. We have a storeroom we can keep both the bodies in. They can be dealt with in the morning as we leave."
When you're ready, he'll exit the room first and clear out the hall, doing his best to herd the other townsfolk back down stairs and settle them down. Behind the bar is door that leads into a stone storeroom where you can stash the two bodies.
Gratefully, Kal takes the kerchief from Silthras and wipes some of the grime and guts from his skin. After handing it back, he waits for the others to finish, and then exits the room after them. Once downstairs, he'll use his last Divine Sense to try and find any other undead that might be hiding in the inn.
Silthras will help move the bodies to the store room, bar it from the outside, then finally return to the tap room. If he sees the girl, Lyra, he goes over to her "I'm sorry. The lad was taken over by a creature...probably the one that was behind most of what was happening here. But he's at rest now."
He turns away, unsure what else to say, and goes to the bar asking Paten for an ale, then settles quietly in a corner, lost in thought. Don't normally deal with the grieving relatives. Just outraged townsfolk. Not sure which is worse.
After a time, Silthras stirs and gathers his companions together to reveal what he has learned of the cloak. "I'll happily keep it, I'm quite vulnerable to some magic it seems, and I can always do with a little more protection...but if anyone else has a strong desire for it, perhaps we should dice for it?"
Then he grins and laughs, turning the cloak over in his hands thoughtfully. "Of course, we might not all be here if not for my quick thinking...just saying."
As you come down the stairs back into the common area, the townsfolk are noticeably on edge, but respectfully keeping their distance and giving your party space. Kal's divine sense flares once more, revealing that everyone here is definitely fully alive.
"Lyra and Sammie will miss him most. Poor kids are the closest thing to family they have left." He says, before fetching the ale for Silthras.
Unless there's anything else you want to do/discuss tonight, we can end the day/night here. Describe what you do on your watch shifts and make your perception checks.
"I'll take the first watch." Kal offers to the group, this time taking care to put his armor on. Noisy as it may be when walking around, nothing else was going to get the drop on him tonight.
Throughout the hour, he'll spend very little time standing still, instead patrolling up and down the two floors of the inn constantly. Occasionally he'll stop in the hall on the second floor to listen for sounds coming from the rooms, moving on if he doesn't hear anything that triggers any alarm bells.

At the end of his watch, he'll take the armor off again.
Usul spends his time mostly listening to the sounds of the Inn while enjoying being back with Muad, quietly playing with him, since the poor pup has been cooped up inside all day. Occasionally he'd pop Dib outside to do a quick scout of the area.
Fully armored in plate, Kal strikes an imposing figure as he stalks through the inn. To the townsfolk, who have spent the past weeks learning how to sleep while ungodly monstrosities shriek for their blood outside, his presence is hardly impactful. They're able to get their rest just fine, and most are fast asleep while he watches over them. His slice of the night passes quietly. On the occasions where he stops upstairs, he hears nothing suspicious, only the soft snoring of those sleeping.
Usul likewise runs into no trouble. When Dib apparates outside the inn, he sees a moderately sized group of undead shambling near the inn, but they take no notice of the owl familiar.

Silthras nods to the others, "It is a thing that I have wanted for some time" he says as he runs the strange cloth through his hands, "Thank you." With that he returns to transferring his notes to his maps before settling down to rest.
When it is time for him to take watch he will likewise patrol the perimeter, periodically checking that the windows upstairs remain boarded up, while watching over the people in the tap room. He will also include the store room in his routine, listening for noises...
As Silthras begins to roam the inn, it falls almost completely silent. Even the night owls among the townfolk have settled into rest, leaving only him awake. Peaking in the rooms upstairs, he finds the windows boarded as they should be.
The storeroom has begun to smell rotten and fleshy, but the two lumps wrapped in blankets are utterly still and silent as he checks on them.

When it comes Velyra's turn to take over watch for the rest of the night, she opens her eyes slowly, feeling a bit more at peace after her trance-like meditation. The first thing she does after putting her armor back on is head to the store room, going over the ritual to prevent the undead creature's body from decaying while they transport it.
For the next three and a half hours she alternates between watching upstairs and downstairs. When on the second floor, she will gently peak through the door into the rooms to make sure all is well. Downstairs, she stands near the staircase while carefully looking over the sleeping townspeople.
Unwrapping the blanket a bit and placing a hand on the thing's chest, a faint wave of shimmering silver light passes from Velyra's arm into the creature as her spell takes effect. After the spell is complete, she's able to finish her watch without issue.
Shortly before the sun rises, Paten wakes up and begins moving throughout the inn, waking others as he goes. By the time the sun has begun to peak through the boarded up windows of the inn, the surviving citizens of the towns are gathered downstairs, awaiting your plan to take them to safety. There are three that are too old or injured to move themselves. For them, makeshift stretchers have been made with bed linens and wooden poles. Each is carried by two of the more able-bodied, while a third hovers nearby to switch out or help when necessary.
With preparations mostly complete, the councilman approaches you. "We're ready, I think. As we'll ever be." In the gathered crowd, you can pick out a few people with hand axes, pitchforks, and maybe an actual blade or two. "They'll do their best to protect the rest of the lot...But understand we'll be relying on you if we run into any big issues along the way."
As the preparations begin, Silthras addresses his companions, "We should scout the route to the mansion first, clearing it, I think, Then send Dib through to explore..." he nods apologetically to Dib, "... and test the platform for returning here.Then...we should go through again, and this time, ask Dib to explore further from the other platforms." At this point he grimaces and scratches his head.
"I worried over this last night...if we can not find Silverfair, then perhaps any town with living people might be better than here. It's either that, or go overland. But, with luck, we will find Silverfair. There are six platforms but only four towns affected. That worries me. Some may be towns of the enemy, or towns they plan to attack. Or towns they have infiltrated..." he glances around and lower his voice, "...four towns, plus the town where the baroness lives, and perhaps the base of the enemy."
"When we know more, we come back here, and present the choices to Paten and his people."
Finally he turns to Usul, "I hope poor Dib can do all that. What does everyone think?"
"It could be that some of the platforms lead to the same town but in a different area. There are some of the platforms we can rule out immediately though, so that should speed things up." Kal says as he finishes donning his armor by putting on the gauntlets. "In any case, the plan you've laid out seems like a good course of action."
Waking up and rubbing his eyes, Usul finds a small snack from his rations, feeds Muad and Dib as well, and then finds the youngsters that had kept on eye on his furry friend the day before to ask them to do so again. He then finds the group and says, "We think you have a good plan ((from OOC)) Sil. We're ready to head out and see what Dib here can see through the gates when you are."
Silthras nods in thanks, "Good advice. I should not think out loud quite so much." He stares at the body on the ground again, "Damned thing had me rattled."

Velyra shakes her head at the mention of the cloak. "I'm well protected enough, I think you would make far better use of it."
Kal likewise waves away the idea of using the cloak. "By all means, you've divined its purpose, feel free to reap the rewards."
