Do I notice something strange about the cold? (I.e. was getting colder closer we were to the town, or is it significantly colder than the last night I was there?)
You notice it's cold, but you're not sure why. Maybe it's just a cold night, or maybe after running and walking fast your body heated up and now, while slowing, even standing, you suddenly feel colder.
As you approach the mayor's house, you see a dim light coming out of one of the windows. When you knock on the door, you hear the same voice as always, shouting from somewhere in the house. “If you’re a dragon, know that I’m far too thin and bony to make a good meal! Also, did your mother not teach you that eating after sundown is a bad habit? You won't be able to fall asleep anytime soon!"
"Hello mister mayor, it is us again, the dwarfs. We have been to see the dwarf archeologists and have passed them a warning about the dragon as you asked. Also we can confirm that it is indeed definitely a dragon as it tried to carry me away to eat me."
"Huh! Everyone said I'm worrying too much, I knew it!" You can hear heavy steps approaching the door. "It seems like ye all really are into this adventuring thing. Well, if ye go to the sign again, be sure to take that notice down ah? Also, I've put a few new ones over there the other day, if you're looking for more jobs. Anyway, here's your pay." He starts slipping gold pieces under the door, one by one. It takes a lot of time, but eventually, all of the promised fifty are out. "Now go sleep or not, I don't care, I'm getting under my blanket and am not going out until morning even if the dragon really does come!" You hear his heavy steps walking away from the door. It doesn't sound like he was joking about it.
Dolgrim arrives at his shack. Gently puts his hammer to the corner, takes off his shield and leans it next to the hammer. When his hands are no longer encumbered by his weapons, he opens the chest near the wall, and starts to rummage through its content. After a short while, with an satisfied smile, he finally finds what he was looking for - a large bottle. Dolgrim puts the bottle next to the chest and puts all his belongings that ended on the ground back into the chest. Finally he stands up, picks the bottle, quickly combs his beard and leaves the shack.
Dolgrim walks through the town, enjoying the evening, until he finally arrives at the house that Thenmer has described to him. Dolgrim approaches the door and knocks...
Seeing Dolgrim actually go into his hut and start doing stuff then Barthrum backs off and walks over to the notice board. He takes down the one they just solved and looks over the new ones.
Other than the one he just took down, Barthrum finds one notice they have already seen and three new ones. The notices read as follows:
“A clan of reclusive rock gnomes resides in a small network of caves in the mountains to the southeast. The gnomes of Gnomengarde are known for their magical inventions, and they might have something with which to defeat the dragon. Get whatever you can from them. If you bring back something useful and don’t want to keep it for yourselves, Townmaster Harbin Wester will pay you 50 gp for it.”
“Orcs have attacked Butterskull Ranch, five miles east of Conyberry along the Triboar Trail! Travel there with haste, assess the damage, and help any way you can. Ranch owner Alfonse “Big Al” Kalazorn is a retired sheriff who can reward you for your efforts. If he’s dead, return to Townmaster Harbin Wester with proof of Kalazorn’s demise to receive a reward of 100 gp.”
“Deep in Neverwinter Wood, along the river that flows west toward Neverwinter, is a logging camp. Every two months, Phandalin delivers fresh supplies to the camp, which is run by the half-brother of Phandalin’s townmaster, Harbin Wester. Barthen, the local provisioner, has prepared a new delivery. He needs someone to bear the supplies safely to the camp. Return to Harbin Wester with a notice of delivery signed by his half-brother, Tibor Wester, to claim your reward of 100 gp.”
“The Mountain’s Toe Gold Mine lies fifteen miles northeast of Phandalin. The new overseer, Don-Jon Raskin, just made the trip from Neverwinter to Phandalin and needs to be escorted to the mine. There’s no telling what dangers lie between here and there. Once you deliver Raskin safe and sound, return to Townmaster Harbin Wester to collect a reward of 100 gp.”
1-5 you forget all the details of the notices. You remember there were four of them but that's about it.
6-10 you can remember vague details - pay, type of job (rescue, escort etc.) and maybe one name - about one of the notices that you find more interesting. The details of the others slipped out of your mind.
11-15 you remember vague details, as per the above, about all of the notices.
16-20 you remember it all quite well. You can try to tell them what is in the notices with your own words.
>20 you can perfectly cite the details of all four notices. The others know just as much as they would if they were standing there reading it with you.
Greetings, I've brought little something, It's not as good as mine, but none is to be honest. Says Dolgrim and laughts heartily and raises his hand holding the bottle. But it is still better than what the humans have. Where is Barthrum, I thought he went with you?

Barthrum tries to high-five the other two, "Well done, well done! Let us finish this up with the mayor first and then dine in peace, what say you?"

"Brrrrr. Well let us go see the mayor before it gets any colder. Then I can set a good fire in the hearth of my house and we can all warm up."
Looks to see if the others are coming
Aye, lets meet the mayor. I hope the messenger of Dis has already arrived and was not eaten on the way.
Says Dolgrim, and deeply laughs, being amused by his own "joke".

Waits to see what response that gets.

Barthrum says, "Dinner it is!"
He trusts the other two to gather the coin. (as in please add 25g to your inventories)
Very well, dinner it is. But first, I'll need to grab something, will you accompany me or shall we meet at your place?
((Dolgrim then goes to the orchard and his shack, either with his companion or alone.))
Barthrum says, "Lead the way."
Leads them to his house and starts to cook dinner.
”I am really not sure how I survived that but it is mostly because you two were there with me. Thank you.”
Dolgrim arrives at his shack. Gently puts his hammer to the corner, takes off his shield and leans it next to the hammer. "Do come in, I have been cooking dinner for us"
