You all exit, closing both sets of doors behind you. As you walk out, the dwarves notice you and get up, their faces bright with excitement. When they notice how battered you look, their expressions change to worry. "Are you alright?" asks the female dwarf. "Did you kill all of the monsters?" "Did you happen to find anything?" The dwarves all look at the three of you expectantly. "Move aside, Let the youngsters rest. 'Ey look like 'ey've been through a rough one. No more questions 'till 'ey rest 'eir butts on the ground." The one moving the other dwarves away is an older dwarf, not very old but he had definately seen more winters than all of the others. He's moving slightly pushing the others away from you with a shovel he's also using as a cane.
"Thanks" he says to the older dwarf "we found one monster and dealt with it but we barely survived. It was tough and edged weapons did not seem to bother it at all"
He looks at the other two
"I'm not sure if we can deal with more than one of those, whatever they are."
As you move forward and sit with the dwarves around a fireplace they've set up, they keep talking. "One? Well, that's surely more than we could deal with, but as far as we know there are at least two of them in there, possibly more." "One of them was in the main hall, but the other came out of the wall. That's how we found the secret door. I think there are probably more doors, and possibly more of these monsters behind. Well, if you can't deal with them, that's quite a disappointment..." Meanwhile, the female dwarf approaches Barthrum and asks: "Was the shovel any use for you?"
(Btw, if you were outside, it's already night. Though your characters don't really know that because they only see the area as if in dim light thanks to their dark-vision. Also, I forgot to mention, but Thenmer's torch was put out when he was knocked out and neither of you was holding another.)
Barthrum says, "Here is your shovel back, miss. I didn't get a chance to use it."
He's busy rolling out his sleeping arrangement with one hand, wincing at times when he needs the other to help. "Wake me up if anything dangerous happens. But not otherwise please."
The dwarf is clearly disappointed as she takes her shovel back. "Well, I guess a shovel truly isn't as useful as a sword would be to slay a monster." She seems like she wants to talk more, but when Barthrum just goes to sleep as he does, she walks away, to not disturb him.
If we are lucky, we might be able to take them one by one. But if we encounter more at the same time, we will surely perish. It seems they are vulnerable to fire and smashing hem to pieces. Cutting them seem counter-productive thought. Let us rest now and devise a plan later.
Dolgrim sits down, with his back leaning to the wall. Takes a deep sip from his skin and closes his eyes.
((I suppose we are resting now, is this short or long rest?))
(Whatever you choose. Barthrum seems to be sleeping which is a long rest. I'll wait in case Thenmer wants to do anything before resting and continue after @OlderThanTimeItself posts. Also, you could use this rest, if you want, to try to get your spellcasting feature active.)
The dwarves watch as you three pretty much just fall on the ground like three rocks. "Without even eating dinner? Must have really been a tough fight." You sleep through the warm night as if you're three statues carved out of the ground. Though one of you did snore like a giant, somehow no one woke up from it. Well, at least they didn't say anything when you all woke up. It's a new day, though inside the mountain it's just as dark as the night. Good thing your eyes are accustomed to the dark. The dwarves are sitting in a circle and eating breakfast. Now that they're like this, you can count and see that there are eight of them. You also notice that there is another female dwarf among them, sitting next to the female dwarf you already met. Somehow, you didn't notice her before. She looks a little older than the other one, but also rather young. Perhaps in her mid-fifties.
Barthrum:
The night was not a normal night for you. In your sleep, you had a dream. A vision, maybe? In it, you were surrounded by a whole clan of dwarves. No, much more. Countless dwarves, and occasionally a taller figure - perhaps a human - seems to break the monotony of short bodies. They surround you and are packed tight, yet none of them is closer than a few feet from you. It seems like they're whispering to each other, speaking with each other. Some of them point in your direction occasionally. Eventually, they all go silent, and two dwarves come forth. They look like your parents but speak in a different voice. No, they speak in many voices. You can hear many voices that you know and much more that you don't. "You have to be strong," the voices say, "even stronger than you already are. To make the world a safer place for you and everyone else, you must end the likes of the one who sent us into the mountains. Let us help you." Suddenly, the sky - that you now notice were clouded all along - open up a small hole, through which light shines, directly on you. The light is brighter than the normal sun's light and it is warm, almost like a comfortable bedroll. Wait, no. It is just a comfortable bedroll. You wake up and almost feel like you just don't want to leave the bedroll. But eventually, you take yourself out of it. Suddenly, you feel different. As if something flows through you, but in a good way. You feel like you could channel power that was given to you to do extraordinary things. When you look at it, you think the emblem of your clan that's on your shield glows for a moment, though it quickly passes.
(Congratulations! You reached level 2! You can make the appropriate changes in your character sheet. Also, since you levelled up during rest and not during a fight, you gain all your features right away.)
Barthrum wakes up and is brimming with energy. "I had an idea!"
He looks around and takes in the whole group, including the new people. "Good morning!"
"I had a dream about this. And then a nightmare about the things. Does anyone have a club or a warhammer I could borrow? My longsword made things worse."
And to Thenmer and Dolgrim, "If you stay close to me, I might be able to shield you from some of the attacks."
(he took Protection fighting style - using reaction to give disadvantage on an attack on someone within 5 feet of him. So this "close to me" he means quite literally. He has no other reactions, so he will always use this at the first opportunity available)
"Lets eat and head out, I have a good feeling about this day!"
The dwarves look at each other, then at Barthrum. "We told you already." "We don't have any weapons with us.""But I could give you my shovel again, if you want it."
(Okay, I'll impose disdvantage if relevant. Btw, the shovel would be an improvised weapon, using STR for attack and damage rolls and deals bludgeoning damage. It can be used one-handed or two-handed dealing 1d4+1+STR modifier dmg when used two-handed. It has a reach of 5 feet.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

"Aye, I think I might have some. But why would ye need such a thing? You youngsters should be able to see pretty well in there." The old dwarf from the other day goes to his backpack and takes out a lamp with a little oil in it and he's holding it while looking at you in a questioning manner.
The younger female dwarf gives Barthrum the same shovel as yesterday. Did she just blush? Everything is in shades of grey of course, but her face turned a darker shade of grey for just a moment before turning away and quickly walking away before he can say anything.
"Ah well, fire seemed to work well enough on them. I had an idea to use some magic to put oil on the creature and then set it alight."
"I hope it works, we were hard pressed by just one of them yesterday. But also we did not understand what we faced and we may have a better idea today"

As Thenmer moves away, the blob takes the opportunity to attack him from behind.
Attack: 16 Damage: 16
But Thenmer evades the attack and blasts fire on the creature, that vaporized it completely. It seems like the danger has passed, at least for now.

Barthrum runs over to Dolgrim and lays hands on him as well for 1 point.
Dolgrim opens his eyes and with obvious difficulty Tries to sit.
Ehm, that went well. Think I owe you one
Barthrum says, "Lets go back and rest and think about this. All of us almost died."
Yes, this seems like a sound plan. Maybe it would be wise to try to close the door, so we are not ambushed in the sleep.

Thenmer is exhausted and barely able to stand, he slumps in a corner and just about wraps his bedroll around himself before he passes out.
