Out of the many trinkets on Cami's coat, she grabs one which just seems to be a small stick with a black button the same color as everything else, there is a hard to notice wire coming out of it, which is connected to the thing Pocket is holding. With a press, a sweet scent comes from it. The scent strengthens the entire group, or at least is expected to.
The quick press takes no time so in just a second, Cami grabs some other trinket from her coat and points it towards the bugbear the party managed to miss quite a few times already. There's another "click" sound, and a smaller shiny thing catapults towards the bugbear, turning into a small blast of fire on impact, be that the wall behind him or Cami's actual target.
Bonus Action: Activating Protector Cannon. 11 temp HP to everyone within 10 ft. of the cannon. (It's probably not going to do anything to Korba who's already got temp HP from Armor of Agathys.)
Action: [Tooltip Not Found] Fire Bolt (Against Bugbear 2) - Attack:17Damage:24 Fire
***Work in progress - will finish later this morning.***
Frilvoril, the first arrow clanks harmlessly off the wall, but the second finds the mark and pierces the bugbear's armor, and chest. The creature yells out in pain and it looks like it's about to fall dead. It yells out and says more things in goblin along with a tidbit of something in common: "intruders! intruders!"
Frilvoril, the first arrow clanks harmlessly off the wall, but the second finds the mark and pierces the bugbear's armor, and chest. The creature yells out in pain and it looks like it's about to fall dead. It yells out and says more things in goblin along with a tidbit of something in common: "intruders! intruders!"
Cami, yourself, the cannon and the others benefit from the temp HP from the protector cannon. (Except Korba as discussed.) The small shiny thing then flies through the air with precise accuracy that hits the bugbear and sends it flying back as the subsequent blast of fire kills it instantly, burning it right up. (very close to an outright death!)
Immediately after this happening, you see something odd. A creature that looks like a brain with 4 legs expels itself from the bugbear corpse! It is quite small, and is now on the floor skittering about. This creature will use its former host's initiative (3) and will start taking turns as of next round. I have added this funky looking creature to the bestiary tab.
Pocket, you get a really good sense from the amount of goblin voices that there are more than several directly to the northeast, and it seems the only way they can get to you is via the two hallways a bit on front of you that you can't see down as of yet.
Bugbear 1 moves at Korba and swings its morningstar violently: Attack: 18 Damage: 13 after this happens, the creature yells out in pain and confusion as it takes the 10 damage from the sands around Korba.
Korba, that hurt. The morningstar rocked you and completely took away your sand armor. It bit into 3 of your actual hp as well.
More voices in goblin come from the northeast.
Next Round: Korba, Goblins, Frilvoril, Cami, Pocket, Bugbears, Intellect Devourer
Korba, the longsword feels strangely... amazing. You bring the blade through the air and it connects hard against the bugbear's torso, almost splashing into the flesh through the armor as the blood flies. The bugbear roars in pain and then falls to the ground, dead. Immediately after, another brain-like creature bursts forth from it's body, and starts to creep around! (same as the other one... will use former host's initiative and will start next round.)
(I'm going to remove the dead bodies from the map since it clutters it up, but will keep track of bodies of course for potential searching afterwards.)
All of the goblins scutter about. You all start to see some emerge from those hallways.
One of them rushes Korba and attacks with a scimitar: Attack: 24 Damage: 6 and the little bugger manages to get the blade through the splint mail and into your flesh.
Another one emerges from the upper hallway, and fires an arrow Frilvoril since he is hovering and the goblin has a clear shot. Attack: 6 Damage: 4 and the arrow goes harmlessly into the wall.
Many other goblin footsteps and speak fill the hallways, and you see a few more, but they don't attack as of yet.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Frilvoril stays hovering 5 feet up and draws his bow back and fires two more times as the goblins begin to swarm them. Unsure of exactly what the brain creatures are, or how they could be potentially dangerous, he opts to shoot twice at the goblins.
Frilvoril, the first arrow goes completely through the goblin 2's head leaving a large hole. It falls dead. The second arrow sticks into goblin 6's chest and penetrating its heart, also killing it.
Cami and Pocket are up!
I am not going to update the map yet - please assume goblins 2 and 6 have been removed.
Cami puts the trinket back into one of her coat's pockets. She then goes for the button on her coat that activated her Protector to activate it again after seeing Korba taking a few hits. Then immediately, as if what she did before was on her way to what she truly wanted to do, she stops and enters in thought, trying to discover what the weird brain-like creatures were.
Despite still having to carry the Protector Cami was using, Pocket could still fly around. So, they fly calmly until reaching the first hallway intersection, and they look further into that side to know what was there. Then immediately, they head back.
Move: 20 feet north, still flying 10 ft. above the ground.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Korba, you feel the aura of the temporary hp surge through your body caused by Cami's cannon.
Cami, you would never forget a creature like this. Even just due to the nature of the thing. It intrigues you and you've read a lot about these things. It feeds of the intelligence of sentient creatures, taking over the victims body on behalf of its mind flayer masters. (that would be a separate roll for them). The flayers basically breed these abominations to serve as roaming hunters to serve their purposes. These things completely consume a creatures mind and essentially turn them into a puppet who is controlled by the creator of the devourer. (You'd also likely know all of their stat block too... including attacks.)
So it really wasn't a bugbear you were interacting with.... just the body of one. I mean, two. Maybe more?
((10ft would be very close to the max height in these hallways FYI))
Pocket flies as described and avoids any type of attacks of opportunity from the goblin #7. They can see that this section seems like some type of guard or watch post. The results of the check and what they saw have also been uncovered on the map!
Bugbear #3 moves forward into the jammed hallway that Pocket just saw.
The intellect devourer #1 that came out of the first dead bugbear now really starts to move about. (the other one doesn't move until next round.) It comes down and gets to within 5 feet of Korba. It first tries to claw at him: Attack: 16 Damage: 9
it then starts shaking and 'looks' at Korba. Please make an INT save.
Maps are updated.
(again, sorry for the slowness. Battles like these may take days to finish I'm afraid!)
The goblins all move closer to the main hallway. A few make it into the hallway. They pull out shortbows and begin an arrow assault.
Goblin #7 shoots at Korba: Attack: 15 Damage: 7 and the arrow misses.
Goblin #3 shoots at Frilvoril: Attack: 19 Damage: 5 the arrow sticks deep into your Aarakocra flesh!
Goblin #4 also shoots at Frilvoril. 1/2 cover for this shot due to goblin #3 being in front. Even though Frilvoril is in the air. Attack: 13 Damage: 3 even with the cover, this arrow also connects, kind of repaying you for your previous arrow slaughter.
The damage eats up your temp hp.
All of the other goblins hold their actions. They are all laughing wildly at the devourers out on the floor. "Brain things!! Brain things!!! hehehehehehehe!"
"Protect leader! Protect leader!"
Forgot about advantage for goblin shot at Korba: 12 so the arrow does connect.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Both of the arrows connect, although the surge of strength from Cami's pocket cannon seem to absorb the arrow blows and he looks gratefully at Cami for the assistance. Seeing Korba stunned from the single blast of the brain creature, Frilvoril feels a bit of panic and in rapid succession, shoots 4 times at the brain creatures, first trying to take out the one in front and then the one right behind it. He stays where he is, hovering 5 feet in the air so that Cami has a Line of Sight, but also staying as far back as he can without running into Pocket.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Korba?" Cami asks, realizing what the creatures could do on the last turn made her panic a little bit when she saw him just stand around and do nothing. "They got him... Fril, don't let any of the Devourers get near him, they could kill him in just one second." Cami first activates the Protector again and then moves towards Korba to do the best she can by grabbing him and then running back towards the door, probably allowing him to take one more attack, but it was the cost it took.
Cami, who got inside last, hadn't closed the door, so she takes the opportunity given to her now to throw him inside and close the door, which she keeps holding closed at the end of her turn.
Bonus Action: Activating Protector Cannon.
6 temp HP to everyone within 10 ft. of the cannon.
Frilvoril, all of your arrows actually stick into devourer #1. These are some serious shots that would likely kill most small creatures like that, but this thing seems to take the damage like a champ. The creature takes 16 damage.
Cami, your protector cannon gives the temp hp to Korba and Fril since they had none remaining.
You then move ahead and grab Korba. He is drooling and his eyes are lifeless. The devourer takes a claw at him as you drag him away: Attack: 18 Damage: 7 and the claws rip deep into the lifeless looking body.
Pocket is up! no change to map except that Korba is moved to where you said.
The bugbear yells out in common "defend the guild we must! defend the guild we must!"
Intellect Devourer #1 moves forward and gets beside Cami. So the thing is directly underneath Frilvoril. It claws out at Cami since it is her that it can reach, but will use it's Devour Intellect on Frilvoril since it has been 'looking' at the flying creature for awhile now.
Claw to Cami: Attack: 22 Damage: 5 and it rips into her magical protective temp hp from the cannon.
Frilvoril please roll the INT save. I like when you guys make the rolls, plus I am busy!
Intellect Devourer #2 moves forward and jumps around like a little hyper brain, excitedly waiting for its next host. It actually thought about jumping onto a goblin, but decided not to. Yet.
Maps are updated.
After Fril's INT check and results, it will be the next round. Order: Korba, Goblins, Frilvoril, Cami, Pocket, Bugbears, Intellect Devourer
So, once the INT check is resolved, I will then move the goblins.

It hurts. You take it as psychic damage, with Cami's protector cannon hp taking the blow.
