“The mark of a successful DM is when you have caused more player deaths with doors than dragons, demons, or devils.”
Peek shrugs his shoulders when Fril asks him what he thinks might be behind the east door. "Peek not know. Sorry boss. Peek not hear anything though."
Farok, Halleth responds: "The direction and distance of my enemies I sense. Whether or not they will be easy to reach is to be seen. HA HA!" and he laughs in a boisterous manner. His jaw almost falls apart and he presses it back into place. "They are split up. There are three of them. The fools. We've never made it to the second level. Well, seems they have, but I haven't, and so I cannot tell you what might lie between us and them."
"One of them is close, one of them is a bit farther away, and the last one, probably Rex... is the farthest. 400 feet? 500 feet from the start?"
"Oh. They are also all at least 200ft down. I hope you all like stairs. They must be the way down to the second level."
"Though we will need a rest at some point, there is no reason I cannot continue now." Farok says. Then looking to Peek and the goblins on the ground says to the little creature, "Peek, these friends of yours are alive because of you. They need to know this. You should be their leader now. Appoint a captain and tell them you will come back with wealth and strength. They will understand that."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Cami is not very talkative right now, but she does still share some of her opinions. "200ft. is a lot. I'm not concerned about the walk. I'm concerned about the time it'll take. Give me some time to investigate the room, and then we can go down... Hopefully, the Protector will still be working by then."
Unless someone says something against it, Cami will proceed with her investigation of all parts of this large room. Certainly, something interesting would come off of it. Pocket's always on her shoulder, giving a more superficial view of the same things Cami was investigating.
Peek says "Leader? Peek leader? Peek new leader of goblins! Peek create new guild. Friendly guild!"
These goblins will wake in an hour, and Peek would indeed explain to them everything that Farok has said if the party waits that long for them to wake up. Will you all wait? There are the other goblins as well back in the second outpost that Peek would also tell about the new friendly goblin revolution if the party waits the hour.
Cami and Pocket take stock of this large chamber which was the main Xanathar guild outpost on this level of the dungeon. With the both of them working together, these are the details of the room that they uncover:
There are symbols of what is likely Xanathar adorned on the walls with blood and black ash: a circle with ten equidistant spokes radiating outward from it and a dot in the center. The ettins also have the same symbol branded into their foreheads.
In the main room, that staircase is a bit deformed and made with granite. It descends the 200ft to level 2 as per Halleth. That grey statue in that room is life-size and depicts a dwarf king standing atop a 3-foot-high stone pedestal. Sprouting from the king’s neck is a deformed, mostly featureless second head with an elongated, toothless mouth. The inscriptions on the pedestal have been worn away. On the king’s brow rests an engraved stone circlet, and his large hands grasp the handle of a stone warhammer, the head of which is planted at his feet.
Pocket's keen senses notice that the king’s warhammer is a separate piece of stone that could be rotated.
The two chambers where the bugbears and goblins were are empty other than some garbage and food scraps.
As for the ettin's chamber - a blackened forge dominates the north wall. It is cold. An iron anvil stands atop a 3-foot-high circular stone dais in front of the hearth. Hanging above the anvil from thick iron chains is a large stone hammer, 10 feet long and 8 feet wide. Carved into one side of its stone head are 4 runes that seem to represent the 4 elements. A 10-foot-wide, 20-foot-long, 2-foot-high slab of stone dominates the southeast corner of the forge. Two dead and rotting giant larvae looking creatures lie atop it.
Stored at the back of the forge are two large sacks. One sack contains 1,400 cp and 350 sp. The other contains 120 iron ingots worth 5 sp each. Each ingot weighs 1 pound and is stamped with a hammer on one side and an anvil on the other.
Fril flies over to the forge at the north wall and takes a closer look at the hammer that is hanging from the ceiling. He spends a little time investigating the runes on the hammer especially the one that seems to represent air. After all, that is the element that he resonates with the most.
Fril, hanging above the anvil from thick iron chains is a 7,000-pound stone hammer, 10 feet long and 8 feet wide. Carved into one side of its stone head are the Dwarvish runes for earth and water; the other side is carved with similar runes for air and fire. You'd recognize it as Dwarvish even if you don't speak it. Other than that, nothing seems magical and you don't get any other resonance with this massive hammer.
((Is it save to assume you shared what Pocket saw?)) Walking over to the statue, Farok looks at the hammer after the owl flapped around it a few times indicating something interesting. Walking around it a few times, running his fingers around it, he sees where it would turn and gives it a good solid pull.
(Is it safe to assume you shared what Pocket saw?)
(I feel like Cami would inspect it herself first before telling anyone, but then she would.)
Before beginning the investigation, Cami slides her goggles back on her face. She had to check whether they were still working. (Detect Magic has a 10-minute duration, and it was cast in the second Xanathar outpost we visited.) Cami takes a good look at the statue. Surely it had to have some meaning, right? Cami tries to inspect her own memory to see if she could get an idea about this statue with what she knew. History: 15
Then, once Pocket tells her telepathically about the fact that they noticed the hammer could spin, Cami takes a look to make sure it isn't a trap, even bringing out her thieves' tools if necessary. At that point, it would've been clear that something there was interesting there, so if one were quick enough, they could very well spin the hammer before she was done. Investigation or Thieves' Tools check:11 If it seems safe, Cami will spin the hammer. "There's no discovery without a bit of experimentation," she would think.
Only after she's done with all that does she move to the other room. She's interested in reading the runes on the stone hammer, which she can do, being learned in the language of the dwarves. Once she feels like she's read it all, she'll ignore the larvae, being averse to touching them, and they grab the two sacks that she'd bring to the group. "This is the first thing we found that could actually be considered treasure in some way. I'm sure you all would be interested. I can help splitting it later, but we did intend to keep going faster, right?"
Farok, when the warhammer is turned so that the weapon’s backside faces forward, the pedestal rises 3 feet, revealing an open cavity that contains a circlet identical to the one worn by the statue — but fashioned from gold rather than stone.
Along with what Farok found (Cami would've checked for traps first and found none), the statue itself really doesn't speak to you with regards to a deeper meaning. The fact that it has a deformed, mostly featureless second head with an elongated, toothless mouth sprouting from it leads you to think that this statue was more of a leisure piece than anything else. Perhaps to some odd sculptor.

On the king’s brow rests an engraved stone circlet, and his large hands grasp the handle of a stone warhammer, the head of which is planted at his feet.
"Splitting things when we rest later would be fine." Farok says, indicating the circlet as well as the coins and ingots found. "If we do not intend to wait for the little ones to wake, perhaps Peek should quickly bring his chosen captain from amongst his troops to explain to these few what has happened when they come to. We can then begin the descent."Then looking to Halleth adds, "Though you seem to be in some haste, keep in mind that not all of us share in your new found constitution. We may need to rest at some point to continue on."
Peek would agree with Farok's plan and has someone in mind for the captain position. Her name is Peep. He would get her and bring her back to the main Xanathar chamber to explain to the KO'd goblins what happened once they come to. Actually, Peek and Peep would bring likely all of the goblins back just incase the KO'd goblins decided to do something dumb. I'm not going to RP any of this if that's cool!
Peek is excited to continue to adventure with the party.
Halleth would respond to Farok. "Humph. Fine. I wait with you as long as you need. Then we go and I execute revenge."
"I did not say I needed rest yet," Farok adds to the grumpy zombie. "But you must realize that we cannot continue on indefinitely like you seem to be able to. Though we may try." He adds with a grin, and almost wishes he had the seemingly endless constitution of this creature. "I am ready to continue when my companions have gathered these things and feel it is safe to continue."
Fril shrugs his shoulders, "I think Cami wants to maximize her device's ability so we should probably get going unless there is anything else of value up here. I don't need a rest now and I think Peek is good as well." He will wait for Peek to return with Peep and the other goblins before starting to head down the stairs unless there are any objections from the group.

While they're still exploring, Cami will remove her glove to then cast Mage Hand the normal way - no tools or trinkets behind it this time -, and the hand's objective is solely to take the circlet and drop it in her backpack. "And this... We can identify later."
"I'd like to rest now, but with him," she points towards Halleth, "in such a rush, and no one else in such a need as me, I thought it'd be better to keep going. Resting for a short time wouldn't be enough for me to rebuild any of my things, and it'd probably be worse since I'm never sure how much time this thing is going to be working." She holds the Protector, having taken it out the moment the group decided to set down and talk about their next steps.
Cami's not objecting to going downstairs. She finds herself giving priority to the needs of the party and heads downstairs behind Fril.

She hugs Peek and wishes you all good luck (except Halleth, he creeps Peep out) as you all head to the stairs and begin the descent to the second level of the dungeon.
You all walk down the 200ft stairs, and end up heading south at the end of the stairs.
Halleth starts growling as you proceed. "Copper, Midna and Rex... they are close. East. And South. I can SMELL them. My moment of vengeance is near."
He moves forward probably too fast, and then stops. "I hear something. It's not my enemy. from that way. Banging noises." he points north. All of you can hear the banging noises. Sounds like hammering or something. Halleth stops and looks back at the party.
Halleth knows the general direction and approximate distance of his enemies, but he wouldn't know how to actually get to them. He's pausing here for the party and then plans to sprint up that north hallway, hoping it turns east.
