Charm Person lasts an hour and you’ve been screwing around for about that. 5.4.3.2.1 Grond growls and stalks over to the captive, grabs him by the throat and straight arms him into a wall “You loathsome, murdering, slave trading scum.” He smashes him against the wall with each word. “Tell me all about you and Kinslayer.. or not.” The wizard may or may not be trying to talk but it’s rather hard to do when your windpipe is being crushed by an enraged barbarian.

He pulls a pillow from one of the beds. Slices a couple strips off cloth off the end to tie the sack closed and hands them to Igneous. "What do you need it for?"

Grond calms down at Igneous’ words and lets the wizard talk.

• Kinslayer hired him to take over Phandalin while he was searching for the Forge of Spells in Wave Echo Cave. He doesn’t know where the cave is but does know where Kinslayer’s main headquarters is in Cragmaw Castle. He describes how to get there.

So as only Thar and Aeliarin can fully use the staff it is going to Thar. Who also gets the spell books as he’s the only one who can use them. The scrolls go to Aeliarin. The coin is split 190gp each (remember Grond is forgoing any share). Who gets the Invisibility potion and the healing potion.

"I am definitely keen for the spell books," says Thar, "and as I try to avoid being attacked I'll happily carry the staff for a little protection for me and use its powers to protect us all with Mage Armor for those it can help."
