"I agree with Duncan, we can't just leave without verifying."He looks up at all the snow in front of him and shivers. Then gets out of the way of the other icicles. "If you want to hang around for a bit over an hour, I can bring forward my familiar and have them fly over to the castle to look for any survivors. Would be safer then us trudging through, but that is also awhile to wait. Thoughts?"
Gryrig: "Sending your familiar sounds like a good idea. I don't really fancy trudging through the snow further into the cold unless we know there is something for us to find there. Meeting Rudy in a warmer place sounds very appealing right now", brushing off some snow from his clothes as he says this.
"I may be able to help with this actually. Let me set up a telepathic link between us and your familiar, so we can get the report immediately - without having to wait for its return."
Using this feature:
Psionic Power: Psychic Whispers
As an action, choose up to 3 creatures you can see, and then roll one Psionic Energy die (1d8). For a number of hours equal to the number rolled, the chosen creatures can speak telepathically with you, and you can speak telepathically with them, as long as you are within 1 mile. You and the creature don’t need to speak a common language to understand each other.
The first time you use this power after each long rest, you don’t expend the Psionic Energy die. All other times you use the power, you expend the die.
Psionic Energy die for how many hours the link will last: 6 (cast at the time when the familiar is ready to go)
The three creatures are: Torman, his familiar, and any third person. Just call it if you want it to be you
Torman nods at Gryrig and starts getting prepared. He then waves his hand at everyone, "You all talk amongst yourselves, this is gonna take a bit." and he settles himself crosslegged on the ground beginning his ritual to cast his familiar.
If we seem to still be in a dubious space, Kat suggests we move to more defensible, less avalanche-able location before waiting around an hour and ten minutes for Torman to do his thing.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.

Gryrig includes Azzure as the third person in the effect.
"I'm afraid, it's verbal communication only. But the familiar can describe to us what it sees" (ooc. Correct me if I'm wrong)
You find that if you retreat back you'll be out from under the Icicles. Gryrig only perceives the snow and Ice is melting but with his knowledge of nature, thinks that the snow and ice won't hold much. More weight, might send it careening down the cliff to his left. And into the gorge that continued from where the adventurers last saw the deceased white lady.
Azzure hears the creaking and groaning of the Ice. Nothing else comes from the remains of the once mighty castle. He is sure that no-one or thing is left there. But he also hears the war drums not far off. Be it of celebration or a call to arms, he is not sure.
Later, Tormans spell comes into affect. The group sees...
”The giants were kind to us and I’d like to help, but if there is no one left there to help and the structure is likely to fall further, I see no need to get ourselves killed…Although, we don’t have the dragon mask, so that will blow our cover with the cult lady. Do you think the wyrm speaker escaped the fall of the castle?” asks Duncan, though it is clear he doesn’t relish searching flying castle rubble for a dragon mask and would like to move on.

(Sorry, busy weekend!)
a Hawk materializes once Torman has finished and right away he sends the creature towards the turret.
if Gryrig needs to touch the bird in order for his thing to work, that happens first.
The hawk flies up and lands on the turret. (Read Spell) the sound of ice and snow falls down the cliff. But the mound still holds.

(Lol. Ok, not how I expected it to work. Given Familiars are actually small Fey or Demons, shouldn't they be ok with this?)
