After an entire day of travelling, it makes sense that none of you noticed it.
Ambush.
Frog people.
Wait, what?
You might've been looking towards the lizardfolk caves, or maybe swatting away a mosquito when all of a sudden you see 6 frog-like humanoids emerge from the muddy waters in front and around you. They were hiding in their familiar surroundings with only their beady eyes out of the water.
You are all surprised for round 1 unless I missed a feature or trait that helps passive perception or something similar etc. (they had that 23 for their stealth check)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Ben is regretting the overland route but keeps himself and Ash as clean as reasonably possibly as they go with prestidigitation. Getting the worst of it but there is only so much he can do.
He just looks irritated as the frogs pop out.
Initiative: 8
Nature (what are they?): 16
((He will use a ration as well.
Looking at the map, he would be five feet south. He isn't one to be up front. Or at the back... unless it looks like there will be some running.))
Ess to Ben earlier "Um, dude... I'm from Neverwinter, bro. I thought you knew that, my homie?"
Ben, you might've heard about these types of amphibious humanoids before, but I don't think you've actually seen one. Nevertheless, you use common sense and your awareness to ascertain that these creatures likely have some of the same traits as... well... frogs. Frogs that walk, with weapons. And they are not normally 'nice'.
((no problem about Ben's starting point, I moved him back 5ft. I also started Ess up front beside Ash. He'd want to be up front for the journey, flexing his muscles a bit as he walks.))
Round 1: Korrik, Ash, Ess, Ben, Frog people
Korrik, Ash, Ess and Ben are all surprised.
The frog people emerge and pad through the wet swamp and towards the party. You can now see that all of them have nasty little spears and their mouths seem to be pretty big. All of them reach someone except the far east one. Here is who they attack:
The ones west and north of Ess try and stab him with their spears as well as bite:
Bite: 14 Damage: 4
Spear poke: 17 Damage: 2
---
Bite: 14 Damage: 3
Spear poke: 23 Damage: 10
The ones north and north east of Ash do the same attacks on her:
Bite: 18 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
Spear poke: 23 Damage: 4
---
Bite: 16 Damage: 5
Spear poke: 12 Damage: 3
The one north east of Korrik does the same attacks to him:
Bite: 22 Damage: 3
Spear poke: 5 Damage: 2
And lastly, the one east of Korrik throws its spear at Korrik.
Ash is surprised… As the frog-folk attack, she makes a feral-feline-hiss-sound, in the back of her throat, like a puma, that none of the party have heard before.
Stabbed and bitten, she manages to draw her black dagger. She takes a second to aim and then attempts to strike a vital point on the frog-thing just north of her…
Bonus action: Steady Aim (granting advantage, and sneak)
Korrik, your staff smacks the one in front of you right in the head. You hear a low pitched thud/crack as you feel immediately that the swing cracks the creatures skull. It falls into the marshwater, dead. You then move over and land one of the kicks to the creatures chest, knocking the wind out of it. (-7)
Ash, your black dagger indeed finds the mark with a vital organ, likely the heart as the creatures blood spurts out as you retract the blade and it falls to the marsh, dead.
Ess is next, although he would've attacked the one to his left anyway. He swings his sword at the creature, trying to decapitate it.
Longsword swing: 7 Damage: 3
Ess can't get his footing in this swamp. His sword flies over the creature, missing completely.
Ben, the creature to Ash's NW seems to be in some considerable pain from your melody (-6) although didn't quite have the full effect you were looking for.
'Frog people' are up next. I will do that in the next post!
The two leftmost creatures continue their assault on Ess. They bite and poke with their spears, croaking quite loud now and it almost seems to be echoing but impossible given our surroundings.
Sloppy bite: 5 Damage: 5
Spear poke: 9 Damage: 8
-----
Sloppy bite: 10 Damage: 2
Spear poke: 13 Damage: 2
The one NE of Ash attacks her:
Sloppy bite: 14 Damage: 2
Spear poke: 9 Damage: 9
And the one beside Korrik attacks him, but it only can bite.
Ash thinks, ‘Okay, this is more like it…’, as a couple of the frog-things go down. She draws her red, offhand dagger, and attacks the frogfolk twice this time…
Korrik, your staff cracks the spear-less frog person in the head and puts it down. You move over to try and punch one of the other ones, and your fist hits but seems to be absorbed by the creatures armor its wearing.
Ash, just as Korrik hits the frog person but doesn't hurt it, you stab your dagger into its neck, and it makes a gargling sound as it drops to the ground, dead.
The other dagger also stabs into the other one (NW), and blood flies again but it remains standing. Just barely. It's bleeding bad from the stab.
Ess, hearing Ben's advice, (out of turn but that speech is totally fine!) takes a few deep breaths in the moment before he attacks. He somehow feels better (14) and then tries again to bring his sword across the creatures neck to the left of him, the one he's been attacking. He wouldn't stop attacking that one.
Longsword swing: 5 Damage: 8
Well, he seems to feel better after the breaths, but he can't seem to get his footing right in the swamp. He misses horribly and his sword splashes into the swamp water, making him very muddy. He doesn't drop the sword, just splashes everywhere.
Ben, your crossbow bolt then sticks into the one Ess was attacking. (-6)
Remaining frog people are up, will be done in next post!

Ess's armor blocks the spears, but the wet slimy mouths smack onto Ess! (total -8)
Ash gets bit once, and poked. The spear penetrates her skin. Bite feels slimy at first and then hurts pretty bad! (total -12)
Korrik gets bit once, and poked. The spear penetrates his skin, too. Ouch! (total -13)

Let me know if I made a mistake for the damage.

Ben watches as his companions, thankfully, take the attacks before dealing out damage themselves.
He narrows his eyes at the frogman NW of Ash and starts quietly singing a wordless, cacophonous melody to it.
dissonant whispers DC wisdom save: 13
He will then switch to a more encouraging tune directed at Kay ending in,
"Don't miss!"
((Bardic inspiration to Kay))
((If possible, turn order depending, he'll encourage Ess to attack the one to his left.))
Korrik, your staff smacks the one in front of you right in the head. You hear a low pitched thud/crack as you feel immediately that the swing cracks the creatures skull. Ash, the spear connects and jabs into you. (-5)
Korrik, you manage to avoid the sloppy mouth.

Korrik swings down on the spear-less frog man.

Ben watches as Kay and Ash quickly end the frogs and Ess bumble his attack. He offers Ess a bit of advice,
"Take a breath and get your bearings Ess." (Encouraging him to take his second wind bonus action)
He'll then take a step back and shoot the frogman west of Ess with his crossbow.
Attack: 21 Damage: 6
They both continue to try and bite and spear Ess.

Spear: 18 Damage: 9
