Ash’s wide eyes are looking everywhere but at Ben. She mutters as she eats mostly to herself. She’s a bit still in shock and a bit still scared ((until we can save again))... “... not all angels look alike, I think... The Cat Lord themself takes on many forms.... I’m just saying you don’t need The Code.... I guess that is another one of my lives though... ...“. She’s recovering from a few weeks of living rough and trying to get her stuff together. She eats and licks her wounds.
"Uh, you're welcome Ash! You've proven your worth to us as well. We needed someone that knows their way around a lock, isn't that right Ess?"
He pointedly doesn't look at Kay.
"And you can squish bugs. Which apparently is important in our line of work."
He munches some more.
"I don't get this entire thing. Someone set an illusion to scare people away but someone also lured us here. I would think they would at least poke their head up to make sure we were gone. This doesn't make sense."
Kay rolls his eyes at the lock crack, needling back.
"You should have seen him when we first met him! Standing regal as you please upon a spire of rock, crocs falling at his feet as the waves crashed in and the wind swirled about his noble form..."

Ess would also burst out uncontrollably in laughter with a big guffaw when Ash calls Ben an angel, and he doesn't even know Ben all that well yet! He continues to munch on his jerky which was in the ration. He lucked out. He stores away the rest of the ration and looks off to the water as it's quite the view up on the cliff here where the house is. He would shrug his shoulders at the alchemic powders discussions.
((You can roll hit dice in here! So, it's just an hour that you all are taking outside, right? If so, will you proceed back into the house afterwards? Which way and where would you go in there?))
"We are really going back in that place?! Ok, hell who knows maybe there's more for us to find, but I friggin doubt it! You want me to go first my homies?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Korrik has his own coughing fit, before managing to wash down the crumbs.
"Forks, Ess! Give a fellow a warning!"
Korrik attempts to unobtrusively rub his face.
Sleight of Hand: 5
Korrik cups his hands at his side and places them over his eyes briefly, muttering to himself in halfling, and when he takes them away, his eyes look a bit different, the sclera more dark, but fading to grey, then back to white. His irises remain dark, their color no longer distinguishable.
Ash gently smiles as the three men banter back and forth. She doesn’t catch most of the digs, but enjoys each of their responses. She almost feels like she’s part of a crew again, almost. She listens to the banter, and to Ben’s song, and nibbles on some jerky and regains some strength...
((Eh, we can say Ben noticed and that drew Ess's attention too?))
Kay raises his hands.
"Nope! Not possessed... that was a joke in poor taste earlier. Ah, it should let me see in the dark if we go downstairs... it's ah... something I'd been working on for a while, but just figured out recently."
Ash catches the bundle mid-throw without really thinking about it, “Oh!?... Are you sure?....”, she unrolls the pack and looks over the tools. She counts them, closes one eye and holds them close, she touches one or two with the tip of her tongue. “These ...Wow!... Thank you!!”. She’s beaming.
Maybe they are a crew now, she thinks.
((woo! Inventory item 8! She will be useful soon!))
"Yeah. You've done better than I have with them already. Ess gave them to me when I joined up with him for a job, so as long as you're working with us, they're yours to use. Besides, this way I can't embarrass myself any further, at least where it comes to locks."
"I think that I'd be able to do it for you too, after I get a chance to rest a bit, and it'd last all day, but I wouldn't be able to do a whole lot of my... extra things... until I rest again."
When he hits next level, he'll be able to cast it on him and Ess, rest to regain ki, and they'd both have 7 hours of darkvision. Ben and Ash already have it.

"Bahahaha yeah, and you should ask him about the temple back in town!"
Ash you are not afraid anymore of the mouth.
To Kay,
"Pretty much how I remember it. Then some loon started running around between the crocodiles."
To Ess,
"Hey! That's between me and the priestess."
Ben takes out his loot and plays a calming thoughtful song as the others rest and he thinks.

"heh heh heh... alright, alright. You're right about the locks, though." and he smiles at Korrik and then back at Ben and Ash.

((Klein, I'd always done 'roll your own' for Song of Rest, but the wording isn't super clear. Do you want me to use Ben's rolled 2?))
Kay digs out his pack of thieves' tools.
"Ash, I'm not feeling sharp enough to make use of these... You handled that lock like I used to be able to. Why don't you hang on to them for now?"
He'll toss the bundle across to her.

Ess perception: 5
"DUDE... dafuq's wrong with your eyes bro!? You possessed bro?!"
((Ben's passive perception meets Korrik's sleight of hand, going to say Ben notices the movement.
Ha, another crossed message.))
"Say what?"
((Yes please use the 2, easier with PbP with one roll))
wait a minute
i did that wrong
Ess wasn't blatantly trying to 'look' for something. So we use his passive perception, which does not meet. So forget that. I am sorry.

"Well jeebus... lemme see, man!" and Ess would look deep into Korrik's eyes. His breath stinks a bit. "Crazy, bro."

"Seeing in the dark is a useful talent. You miss that at all Ess?"
He peers around to look at the trick.
"So, same plan? We finish checking the first floor then head up?"
Ash is still beaming. She says to Korrik, “I’ll take good care of them! Thank you!”. She re-rolls the pack and stashes it inside her clothes.
