Skarro tries to open a box using the sharp end of his grappling hook, and if that fails he tries a dagger or his old longsword. If all else fails, he calls down, "Any of you got a crowbar?", and will use the rope to pull it up.
Skarro manages to open the top of the box, peeking inside, it seems to be full of... some sort of packed dried food. There's a lot of padding to prevent the food from breaking. There are small bags full of stuff inside the box.
He throws a few more down then examines the padding, wondering what's so special about this food. When he is done with that, he opens one of the packets.
Skarro stuffs some more packets into his pack before checking the box next to the one he opened, once more prizing off the lid. He then looks around at the boxes he can see, Do they all look the same, or are there ones with different marking, colouration, size or shape?
The boxes look the same. The other crate is full of strange metal contraptions. They don't look like individual gadgets but rather parts for some machine.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Opening a pack of crispy snacks, Komos begins munching away and then immediately throws the bag down when the pieces come dropping down, “How interesting!” He exclaims, adding, “toss a few more!”He then looks over the pieces to see if he can make any sense of what they might be at all used for. ((Investigation 15))
Skarro obliges, tossing randomly selected pieces down to Komos. After a few pieces he stops. "Skarro could push whole box...or keep throwing?" he calls down.
With the parts Skarro tosses down, Komos can tell that they are all the same parts. Spares maybe? Or whatever these are used for requires a lot of them? Either way, Komos can't discern the purpose of these parts. That is not surprising. It feels like the deeper they go into this place, the further they go from the reality and the world they knew. The food, the architecture, the gadgets... everything is very alien.
Despite all distractions, Varn tries to stay target-focused. Everything so strange as it is, it would be pointless to even try figuring out what anything here is. "I think we should move on. If this room contains nothing of use for us - and we can't spend the time to open every single crate - then we should get going. Emperor isn't getting any weaker while we wait." Varn looks at Glory, to see what she thinks about the matter, if she responds at all.
Tiamat seems to agree with Varn. "That is right. If there is nothing useful here, we should move. Besides..." She looks around the room and says, "This room is... creepy."
Skarro: There are only two boxes at the top. Both of which you opened. There are like 6 more unopened crates but they are under the first two.
The door suddenly slams shut. The lights go dark for a good while. Then it comes back for a split second and at the far end of the room, just before the darkness, the party sees a pale, fleshy humanoid figure. It's arms and fingers are impossibly long. Its mouth has an unnaturally wide smile with sharp teeth. However the most unnerving thing about it is its eyes. It stares at the party with two beady white glowing eyes. Then before the party has time to properly process what they just saw the lights flicker and it disappears. There is a heavy sense of dread in this room.

Skarro takes a couple of bags, stuffing them in his pack.
"Just dried rations," he says, , throwing one down to the others. "This place is very strange."
He then looks around, from his vantage point, wondering if there is more to see.
When Skarro grabs one and throws it down, it doesn't feel like dried rations. The bag's contents seem to crinkle.

The packet pops open and he finds some paper thin slices of... what appears to be potato inside.. They are crispy and fragile.
Skarro just found some potato chip packets; another thing that shouldn't exist in Faerun but here it is.
Skarro stuffs some more packets into his pack before checking the box next to the one he opened, once more prizing off the lid. He then looks around at the boxes he can see, Do they all look the same, or are there ones with different marking, colouration, size or shape?

Skarro examines the metal, wondering if it might be valuable. He takes a piece and throws it down to Komos.
The he calls down to his companions. "Skarro climb down unless you want him to open more boxes."

Bored, Skarro will start moving along the tops of the boxes, until he has moved approximately sixty feet, then open and examine another box.

(( Ah, ok. I thought it was serried ranks of boxes, not just two stacks ))
Hearing the voice of his goddess, Skarro climbs down and heads back too the corridor, ready to move on.

Initiative: 9.
Just to confirm, we no longer see the figure, but the lights are again turned on?
Varielky
Yes. The figure is gone but the lights are on.
I should note that when the lights went off you also couldn't see the figure with your Darkvision.
