Toren steps over the swarm of coins and follows after Eider. All of the coins React taking Opportunity as he passes. Toren tries again to deflect the blows with his magic but five (!?!) of the strikes are too strong to be deflected.
Toren calls a storm to fight with him though he is affected by it as well. Toren and Eider stand up to the force but all of the coins in the area are battered by the force. Though 3 coins are outside the area.
A bolt of lightning cracks and falls well wide leaving a smoking crater in the space between the coins where Toren has stood.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
If the storm fades prior to Eider's turn he will cast Cone of Cold instead: 42 (36(18) damage due to Elemental Adept) DC: 17
Eider turns to Toren and waves his hand to the side, dismissing the gale with a flurry of snow and icy wind. (4th Level Dispel Magic targeting the Storm.)
Morthos tries to Mark Parabolus' inky void as his prey, but the Warlock can't be seen (and so can't be targeted with spells that require sight. Would you like to choose another target or refrain from casting this spell?) He fires an arrow into the void and hears the arrow crate against the metal of his target's armor within. (Note you'd have disadvantage firing at an unseen target, but it won't change the result here.)
Keygella hurls an axe at Errich moving to reduce his cover. The blade slashes into the monk's flesh, as she falls back to capture the flag for her team. Calling Errich out. (Insight or Intimidation, Effect: 1, Winner gains advantage. Also Keygella needs a Performance or Acrobatics)
Eider sends his coins in for another round as he draws out a frigid storm to cancel out Toren's. The Shield persists to protect him but the damage is accumulating quickly.
Toren attempts to escape the material plane. A risky move, and it fails to pay off...
As swiftly as the battle began it comes to an end, the first strike proves to be the most important in this matchup.
Toren can stop the missiles, and defend against most of the coins, but not without incurring an unnecessary counter spell. Enough coins will slip through in either case, and Toren falls. Congratulations to Eider, you are the new champion.
The crowd gawks in stunned silence. The wizards' dance moved so quickly, each step pressing three or four moves into the battle each strike a trade, but Eider had the upper hand. Who knows what plans were made, and foiled, where things may have gone with even subtle changes...
The crowd explodes cheering and shouting as the monumental moment settles in. Basil presents the new champion.
Toren comes to in the medic's office where he has not set foot in a long while. He gains 10500 xp and 4400 gold.
Eider is lead through the screaming crowd to the prize room as even the arena staff applaud his passage. He gains 21000 xp and 11000 gold. Inside the prize room...
Tier 1:
"Take any one item. We're well equipped." The room contains every item from Chapter 5 of the Player's Handbook weighing 70 pounds or less, armor of varying sizes, instruments, tool kits. There are also spell scrolls, every first level spell is present (as well as spell scrolls of a level for which a magic user of the characters new level would have slots for), and an encyclopedia of knowledge. Reading these books will grant you proficiency with any one of tool kit or any one language, depending which book you choose. The books are magically infused to allow easy retention, but the magic is lost once used.
Upper Tier:
The victor may choose instead, an item from a magically infused chest that summons 10 randomly selected magic items to choose from (rarity determined by level). Alternatively they may exchange a magic item for another item of their choosing of the same rarity or lower, if the administrator has the requested item in his extensive collection. "You name it, we've probably got one somewhere."
