It doesn't take a ranger to notice tracks and traces that lead around an outlying building with a swinging sign that reads 'Barthen's Provisions'. The Paladin follows some obvious debris in concentration for a few moments...
Gzjak: The kid peeks his head out a bit with a grin. "You look fierce Mister."
Gabriel: You've gone a bit too far apart to call back without startling the child. You have a torn part of a cloak in your hand.
Alarion: "Qelline's out back working the fields with her son Sir. I don't reckon they'd appreciate a visit when at their business, but I can take a message for ya Sir." says the elderly halfling lady.
Grzak continuing to smile says in a tone that is inconsistent with the words spoken,
”I am fierce.”
While waving the kid to draw closer, his voice softens even more,
”Come closer, please. No need for our voices to be raised. My friend and I are investigating a strange occurrence that happened last night. Maybe you could help us? My name is Grzak, and my friend here is Gabriel. What may we call you?”
Daran spies your approach, and spryly makes his way down a ladder to greet you warmly. Katherine’s straightforward question brings a lift to one eyebrow, and a quirk to his lips.
“You mean business m’Lady. That is good. May I offer you both a tea made from my herb garden? We can have a chat inside my humble cottage?”
The half-elf gestures towards the small, well-maintained building beside the orchard.
Kathrine smiles. "That would be wonderful." She replies. "Sorry if I am direct, I like to be as straightforward as I can be." She smiles again and follows the elf to the cottage.
Cringer skulks in Kathrine's shadow, but moves to the cottage as well.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Can you describe the torn cloak?
Gabriel will take the cloak and head back to Grzak. When I notice he is talking to the little girl he will slow his pace, and try not to be threatening. Calling put to her, "it's ok dear, we won't hurt you."

"I could help them, if they wouldn't mind. I grew up in a similar village."
The young one sees Gabriel and eyes go wide. It's hard to tell if it's a girl or boy, dirty faced and dirty blonde hair hacked off as if with a kitchen knife to just over the shoulders.
"Misters...?" she looks between the grinning scary-looking half-orc and the Knight in Shining Armor. "Are you... adventurers?"
The salt and pepper haired half-elf makes good on his word. He sets a pot to boiling and pulls an aromatic mixture of herbs from a pantry.
"I hope this will be to your tastes?" He gestures for the goblin to come forth and be welcome.
"I have no ill will towards anyone of any race, if they choose to become a person who works towards good. Anyone of that sort is always welcome to sit with me at my table as an equal." Daran says.
A giggle comes out of the youngun' that makes you think this is probably a girl vs a boy? The tween comes out a little bit more from behind the building.
That elderly halfling was rather rude, but I assume you will still want to go find Quelline and Carp?
You make your way back down the porch stairs. It's easy to find your way around the house to the farm area. You see an older and younger halfling at work in the fields. Which do you approach first?
Kathrine nods towards the table and takes a seat herself. She smiles up at their host as he offers Cringer a seat as well. She knew she liked this man.
Cringer looks to the pretty lady, then the imposing elf (half elf?) and thrusts out his scrawny chest. "Cringer be good." he says with a nod. He moves up, climbed atop a chair, and kneels there, giving a sharp-toothed smile for the others. He lifts up a tea cup, drains the entire thing, then sstarts bouncing on his chair, making sounds as the hot liquid goes down his throat and into his belly. "Hot... Hot..." He pants.
Kathrine smothers a chuckle and turns her attention back to their host. "The Order of the Gauntlet?" She asks with a frown. "No, I can't say I have heard of them before."

Alarion knocks on the door at Alderleaf Farm. An elderly halfling opens the door slightly, peeking out.
"Who you looking for Sir?"

'Slaypin Geint' can be made out upon the half of the torn cloak you have found.
Alarion:
The elderly halfling lady looks you up and down from inside the very slightly opened door.
"Ok, you find them around back then. Any trouble and I'll be shooting you in your backside with a bolt before you can holler."
She slams and locks the door.

Daran Edermath has set steaming mugs of tea upon his homemade wooden table in front of you.
