Even under gray skies, this pool at the north end of the village shimmers and sparkles. Near its shore sits an old gazebo on the verge of collapse. A wooden statue of a mournful, bare-chested man, its paint chipped and faded, stands in the gazebo with arms outstretched, as though waiting to be embraced.
According to the burgomaster, this spring was blessed long ago by Saint Markovia. Its waters defy corruption. The gazebo appears very frail, a strong wind would knock it over.
Grishkar had been patiently following everyone since entering the town. Behind him here 8 figurea clad in various array of coverings and clothing meant to hide features. How they were allowed into the city was a baffling mystery at first until the group stopped and some locals became curious of a smell. Spinning in a rehearsed performance, Grishkar transformed, "Approach these wretches as though they were evil incarnate, good people! They are stricken with debilitating disease as punishment for sins. They travel in penance, so come no further, lest divine judgement be spread to you for your sins as well! All who live have sinned, and I am no exception!" At this time, Grishkar would throw ogf his hood to villagers, revealing a face ruined by the hand of some higher power. The talk of penance caused an internal eye-roll, but scaring people away was entertaining.
(Been wracking my brain over this mystery since we realized this place was inhabited. How do you sneak a squad of rotting corpses into a city terrified of black magic? Leprosy!)

(Can't claim any credit for this. Watch The Last Kingdom on Netflix. Hero and his band of merry murderers/goodish guys are escorting a VIP of some kind. Just happens that they come across a leper pilgrimage. Literally everyone stays back about 20' and avoids any eye contact. The armed travellers are talked up as protection because "even those scorned by God still deserve mercy from harassment")

Kia pads along quietly with the rest, and when they arrive, she observes the statue carefully, sniffing it, even. "I do not know this deity," she says. "He begs, moreso than welcomes."
She sniffs the water, too, and watches curiously as Martha washes. She will tentatively drink from cupped hands, then, too scrubs her face, seemingly noticing the blood on her for the first (but surely not?) time as it washes onto her hands. She stands and steps away from the party (but not too far), for some privacy.

she/her Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands.
Briella sits before the pool of water and takes in the peace and quiet. She slips back into her homelands language and begins some quiet meditation. It had been so long since she's had a proper place for prayer and the tension releases from her muscles, for the first time in a long time she feels a kind of peace.
The water is perfectly cool and sweet. Whoever drinks the water, or makes contact with it feels as if you've rested for weeks, any pain - mental or physical - seems to slowly and calmly wash away. It's almost like you have disconnected from this plane for a moment.
You guys can continue to explore the village, or head up to the Abbey.
Martha stands up and stretches, rejuvenated, “I feel great! Strahd ain’t gonna know what hit him! Let’s go get that holy symbol! Do we have a bottle we could grab some of this in? I feel like holy water would do some good.”

"I'll come as well. If it is a proper holy place I would enjoy visiting it."
Imryll uses her innate trail sense to lead the group to the pool/shrine, which means we take the 'long way' there...
"Don't worry, I know EXACTLY the way there. It's just around this corner. I think."
Last to know and first to be blamed...
As a free action, can I regret my life choices?

Martha goes over to the pool, would she know proper customs for sacred pools, just in general?

Bors waits outside the pool and shrine. He's not being disrespectful, but Lathandar is no friend of Tempus.
