In 1983, TSR released one of the most popular modules of the time - RAVENLOFT for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.
I'm looking for a group of 5 to 6 players, new or experienced, to join me on this journey back in time to land of Barovia where Count Strahd keeps watch in Castle Ravenloft. Who is brave enough to accept the challenge? This adventure will start you out at level 5, using standard array stat generation. I'm looking for active, regular posters, so if you'd like to give this campaign a try, please submit your character for review.
I'm currently DMing two other games: INVASION OF HOUSE TOR, and THE LOST MINES OF PHANDELVER, so if you'd like you can check those two out as well to see my style.
REMEMBER: I CAN ONLY CHOOSE 5 OR 6 OF YOU, SO PLEASE MAKE A VALID ATTEMPT AT A CHARACTER CONCEPT. Thanks! =)
PM ME IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS - I WILL BE CHOOSING PLAYERS BY FRIDAY AT MIDNIGHT. I WILL PM THE "WINNERS".
Well, I think I’ll throw my own hat in the ring, sounds interesting.
My idea for the character is Mathadriel, or Martha to her friends, a Neutral Good Scourge Aasimar (Flavored Drow instead of Human) Nun of Eilistraee. She is a Level 5 Zealot Barbarian. She was born and raised in a monestary to Eilistraee on the surface. Her life was a gentle one as she grew and learned of her blessed heritage. She grew to find great pride in her family. Eventually, she even learned to channel the power of her celestial blessings through raw emotion. Now, she has set off on her own journey to find Eilistraee’s will in her life. However, such teachings are often closely hunted by those that would prefer them buried forever.

Hello everyone! Looking to throw my name into the hat as well. I see we have a Barbarian, Warlock, and a link that took me to a wonderful picture of a Beholder Zombie (broken link). Anyone have a preference for a character? I can play anything and everything. I'll start brainstorming something for now just in case no one has a strong preference.

Characters:
Grishkar Darkmoor, Necromancer of Nerull the Despiser Kelvin Rabbitfoot, Diviner, con artist, always hunting for a good sale Bründir Halfshield, Valor Bard, three-time Sheercleft Drinking Competition Champion, Hometown hero
AD&D was essentially 2e, so it's a very old version. I believe the campaign is being updated for 5e.
AD&D was nice because there were no feats, class features (past lvl 1), and classes were much more bare-bones, so players had to put much more effort into being creative, but imaginative play was highly encouraged because there were less DM rules to abide by.

Just to make it clear, i'm running this adventure for 5e, even though it originally came out for 1st edition. The original Ravenloft is a bit shorter than it's current 5ed update "Curse of Strahd" =)
Hey. Hi. Its me again. Would it be alright if I try to join this game as well?
I have a Elven Cleric named Briella Moonbrook.
Backstory: Briella Moonbrook, like many of the Eladrin elves, was born in the Feywild. She was the daughter of two well respected healers who ran a clinic out of their home. She grew up assisting them in their clinic, taking care of the sick and injured. It was later discovered that she had a natural affinity for healing magic, which drew the attention of a nearby temple of the Ehlonna, the Goddess of Woodlands. The clerics there came to the small clinic to observe the family and after days of consideration, offered for the young elf girl to join them. Her parents were hesitant, not wanting to lose their daughter, but Briella insisted. "This is where I'm supposed to go." She told them, "I've seen it in my dreams." The admission of the dreams confirmed it to the couple. Their daughter had been chosen, and she was going to one of Elhonna's champions. So she was packed up and was sent on her way. She spent the next decades dedicating her life to training at the temple. There she tended to the sick and wounded, as well as to the paladins of Ehlonna. They were the ones that taught Briella to defend herself should she ever need to. And need it she would as one day the city, had through a rare series of events, been forced to appear in the material plane. The elves at the temple had taken this chance to retrieve some rare items that could not usually be found in the Feywild. Unfortunately, Briella was separated from her group during a bandit attack, and she could not make it back to the city before it disappeared back into the Feywild. Lost and alone, Briella now wanders from place to place, attempting to find her way back home. She doesn't let despair take her over and keeps her spirits up by helping others who cross her path.

You can buy anything in the DMG or PHB, doesn't matter if it's magical or not. The adventure is tough enough that you can get whatever you'd like and it'll still be challenging.
I used the Buying Magic Items table in Xanathar’s. A common is 1d6*10, but an uncommon is 1d6*100. I’m actually really excited because I rolled a 6, but then I rolled a one for my next item. I may be out of money but at least I’m happy haha

Can a person pass on this bonus gold and split it up among the others to have a better chance of getting what they want? My character has a wretched lifestyle and her starting equipment gives her what she needs that I really don't need a bunch of stuff etc.
I'm literally ok with whatever you guys want to do. If you want to have something you can't afford, ask me, i'm sure i'll say yes, especially if it's something common. If you'd like to be generous, by all means!
I focus on more on being a DM and having a campaign that's fun, and I reward reliability, participation, playing in character, and funny moments. I'm not too strict when it comes to equipment. I can make this adventure easy or very difficult, so don't sweat it too much.
Backstory: Ailduin was very young when his mother left his family (father and his twin sisters), to this day he doesn’t know why. His father was an adventurer and they used to move a lot but that didn’t stop Ailduin from making friends. One could say he always had something special that always attracted people. When Ailduin was 15 he left home to follow in his father's footsteps, he ended up serving as a paladin’s squire, learning all he needed to swear his own sacred oath. Ailduin (20) got a letter from his father, he had remarried a couple of years back and that he had four new siblings! With that he ventured back home on the way meeting a fellow adventurer Olinara a ranger, on their way they ran into giant poisonous scorpion! They killed it but Ailduin didn’t come out unscathed he was poisoned and it took a couple of day for him to recover. He would eventually make his way home to see his new family members and, once he did he set out again to his next adventure.
I PM you about using the xanathar's guide Origin table, I have rolled everything on the PM. Let me know if this is acceptable or if I have to reroll :)

Rolling gold. 5 ×25 =125 + 500= 625

How do we buy the items? From what i know there are no prices listed for any of them.

You could also reflavor the items to fit that squalid lifestyle. More arcane, Dishonored-bonecharm style items?
