For sake of simplicity, I have added a map to the PUBLIC CAMPAIGN NOTES: the current MAP OF BAROVIA. The map has location numbers on it, and gives you all some idea of how big the town is, and easier to visualize what it looks like. I have updates the LOCATIONS TO EXPLORE with the appropriate code numbers for reference.
The crying you hear, a sad, sullen, mournful cry, is coming from LOCATION E3 - Mad Mary's Townhouse.
LOCATIONS TO EXPLORE:
Bildrath's Mercantile (Shop E1), "Blood of the Vine" Tavern (Inn E2), Mad Mary's Townhouse (House E3), Burgomaster's Home (House E4), The Church (E5) The Cemetery (E6).
A moaning sob floats through the still, gray street, coloring your thoughts with sadness. The sounds flows from a dark, two-story townhouse. The house is boarded up and barricaded from the inside. There are no lights on, and the crying seems to be coming from the second floor.
Grishkar idly strolls down the city street, somewhat at peace by the totality of the town's destruction. His servants seem to take no heed of the wanton destruction as the followed in a close, protective circle.
(OOC > Even after they are too weak to be of use, I'm still raising small squads of zombies as meat shields at least :) )

Characters:
Grishkar Darkmoor, Necromancer of Nerull the Despiser Kelvin Rabbitfoot, Diviner, con artist, always hunting for a good sale Bründir Halfshield, Valor Bard, three-time Sheercleft Drinking Competition Champion, Hometown hero
Leaving the wolf by the entrance of the town, Briella follows the other two to the source of the crying. As she examines the house she is shook by the intensity of the crying coming from the building.
"This person is obviously in terrible pain. Kia, Martha, will you help me look for a way inside?"She walks up to the house to begin investigating the windows and doorways, looking for a way in.
Kia does not have the physical strength to break into much of anything, but she is willing to go in first, when someone else opens the way. Full on perception checks.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Grishkar strolls up to the crying house, hands folded behind his back, hood drawn up to show only the emblazoned skull on the back. "Need a hand? How about ten? It would be so unfortunate to crash through the door and discover a trap left by whatever orchestrated this attack..."

Lilitu listens to Loo Loo and agrees too many cooks in the kitchen ruins the stew! In any event, Lilitu wonders how whoever is crying will take a mob tearing their way into their home. So heads off to find the Burgomaster's Home.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kia will not wait for the zombies to lumber up the stairs. She will enter where they have opened, with darkvision, and move swiftly upstairs. In grudging deference to Grishkar's comment, she will be actively looking for traps or oddities as she goes.

"Poor Gertruda.." The woman wails. "My daughter..I hid her here all her life, kept her here in the house - it's not safe outside! Not safe! But she didn't listen. And now she's gone! Gone! Where could she have gone? I fear the worst! My dearest Gertruda! The wolves come at night. So many! Horrible other things, too! RUN. RUN!"
She continues to cry and hide her face in her hands.

Investigation: 1
As you make that investigation roll, you noticed you're not even looking at the right house. Martha has to turn you around. Oh, right. THIS one. =P
Briella, you noticed that whoever boarded up this house did a mediocre job. Someone could probably muscle their way in if they really tried.
"Hmm. Just breaking in there would be rude. Um." Briella quickly looks about the group.
"Grishkar! Your morals are questionable yes? How would you feel about breaking in to what might be someone's house?"

You clear enough barricade to enter the front door. The crying is coming from upstairs.

You find no traps, just an empty town home with a lone woman upstairs on her knees, in her bedroom, crying, her hands to her face.
She seems completely oblivious to your presence, lost in her sorrow and despondency.
"Oh, my poor, poor Gertruda..." She says between choked sobs.
Briella quickly follows behind the Tabaxi, sliding around the zombies. She pause at the bottom of the stairs and turns back to Grishkar.
"Please leave your friends outside, I don't think this person will take to kindly to zombies." She says before continuing up the stairs.
Sobbing women are not Kia’s strong suit, she will pause and let Briella and whomever else is with her catch up.

"It's not safe at night....it's not safe at night....! They come every night...poor Gertruda...why...??" She cries..
OOC: Apologies, been throwing up all day
”Miss, what happened to Gertruda? Who comes? What happened?”
