Lorvax for a moment your companion seemed a little "off" but then in the blink of an eye he is back to his normal dark and slightly aggressive self. After giving him a firm slap on the back your attention turns to the casket you spotted. Opening it up you find that it is filled with Diamonds of various sizes. (Total value 2000 Gold)
As you all discuss the value of the cloak you all make your way over to the Dark Pool.
OOC: roll perception as you peer into its depths. Yet to be identified :
A vial containing a milky white liquid that emanates transmutation magic
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Well ok son." Brenvull says to Lostur when he put away the coins "Just be careful. We can't lose anyone more, we are on a mission for Balorian, taking back the world. We need every hand and mind we have now." ((🤔 if he recognizes the coins as soul coins he would have said soul instead of mind))
Then when Lorvax finds the diamonds "Lorvax. Can I have those diamonds? I could use them maybe.." (he is definitely not saying anything on the subject that is when someone dies) "So I could identify one more item, do you think this potion or this" holding up the milky white potion and the other. He then gives one potion of speed to Lorvax and one to Lostur and starts walking towards the dark pool.
Perception: 15
((OOC: Lol, I was checking who I thought was best with the cloak of invisibility, but we all have disadvantage on stealth rolls 😂 Brenvull could use it to stay out of danger, but really should never be sneaking around. I think Lostur or Kray are the best possibilities))
((OOC2: Did we distribute the healing potions 1 to everyone? Or who has them? (and did we forget any other magic items we found)))
Slightly disappointed by his findings, Lorvax turns to Brenvull, "Pah! A few shiny stones. They're all yours Brenvull."He hands the casket on, appearing much more interested in the potion being offered to him,"Ahh excellent, will this potion aid me in battle?"
Lorvax proceeds to glare into the Dark Pool: Perception: 6
Seeing the others still have a few potions to identify, Lostur offers to inspect one. (Arcana: 3) After careful study of the potion, he hands it back with his findings: "It's a potion. I think it might be magic. Or colored water. I'm not sure."
Following the others to the Dark Pool, he takes a look into the murky waters. (Perception: 13) "What's this thing here?"he asks as he looks at it.
(Lostur will gladly take a potion of healing or two if we have one to spare. I think all somewhat defensively usable stuff should go to squishies and life clerics, because the former are squishy and the latter keeps us alive XD. Lostur is a dumb melee fighter, so I don't think he will need that cloak. It should go to someone who can use it cleverly ;-) )
Brenvull, Lostur and Lorvax; you all stare into the dark waters for a time and see nothing of import. You all move on to the warg pens where you find nothing but old bones and the musty scent of damp fur.
OOC: Brenvull you can make an Arcana check on the coins if you wish, but otherwise you barley saw them beyond their dark aura.
„We should check the goblin tunnel and make sure all those filthy creatures are dead before we leave this place... it‘s still Lord Balorian‘s home,“ Lostur growls stubbornly. He believed this very firmly, and was not at all afraid of opening the golden gates. Or even if there was a bit of fear, it wasn’t of what he might meet out there. Lostur was confident he could smash through any challenger that dared to get in his way, after all. It just seems like leaving the cavern would be the end of his old life as Balorian‘s true servant. So he was most definitely not stalling, nope. The goblins just had to die first, every last one of them.
“I agree” replies Kray “let’s make sure Lord Balorian’s resting place is undisturbed. The paladin doesn’t even look at the new objects and she nods to Brenvull when he takes the diamonds.
You all make your way over to the goblin tunnel. It has been utterly collapsed by whatever explosive device or magics the goblins used. It is clear that as curious and greedy as they might have been they were more worried about you than the treasure. Hundreds of tonnes of solid rock now separates you from them, leaving only the gates as a means of exit as far as you can tell.
"Raugh! Foul cowards! I hope you choke on your own stench now that you cut off the ventilation!" Lostur rages at the wall, kicking at the stones futilely. "You... you... pus-ridden boils! Just wait, one day I'm gonna lance you all!" Once he's done exhausting his fury, he sighs, and turns around, defeated, facing the others.
"... I guess we have to open that gate after all, huh? Or is there anything else we need to do down here?" His shoulders droop in defeat.
Upon coming across the obstruction, Lorvax shall initially check over it to see whether all is as it appears; that the rocks are not positioned in such a way as to suggest they can be passed through, that they are actually rocks and not an illusionary trick, etc.
Survival: 23 ((used survival as Lorvax is particularly proficient in it, might be a different skill though))
Chuckling, Lorvax puts a comforting hand on Lostur's brother,"Come now brother... Can you not see that the foe has acknowledged their own ineptitude. They were so out-matched and out-fought that not only did they turn tail and run, they also took time to halt our advance!"He smiles widely, "Surely, by now, tales of our victory shall be striking fear in the hearts of these cowards... They will think twice before attempting to strike again at the children of the GREAT Balorian!"
Lorvax turns towards the way of the gate,"Let them hide in their holes; shut off and in fear. There is little we can do for the time being. We have a greater calling ahead."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Arcana: 10 (for the coins)
"I think we are done here, though we should maybe redistribute our findings and maybe give people the chance to attune to the items before finally leaving and starting the mission the master bestowed on us." He will then take out the scroll of identify and identify the milky white potion. And start laying out what they have found and start distributing it. Explaining what everything does if he knows it. I will just sum it up below:
The milky white potion
4 greater healing potions "Kray do you need one? Or are you fine with your own powers? I think Lostur and Lorvax will need them most. I can go without, Bahamut protects me."
Gloves of missile Snaring"I am attuned to them, but if anyone really thinks they need them... Fine with me"
1 unidentified potion (Brenvull will happily take care of it for now)
2 potions of speed (already given to Lorvax and Lostur) "Yes Lorvax, it will aid you in battle. It will give you incredible speed for a minute"
1 unidentified scroll (Brenvull will happily take care of it for now)
Cloak of invisibility (requires attunement) (Brenvull could wear it to stay out of trouble, though he rather sees someone else use it to gain (battle) advantages)
((OOC: Did I forget anything else that needs (re)distributing?))
Lostur takes the potion of speed and one of the potions of healing gratefully. He looks at the gray bag of tricks and holds it up, asking, "You guys sure none of you want this demon-bag?"
(Lostur also has a bunch of gems, btw, that he found. He showed them to the rest of the group, but can hang onto them until we get to a shop or other place to sell them. They're AFAIK non-component variety gemstones.)
Lorvax those rocks are real, nothing magic or tricksy about them.
Brenvull you read the incantation from the identify scroll and focus on the vial of milky white liquid. Turns out it's a vial of Sovereign Glue, you dont want to get that on you!
"I think I'll take the potion" says Kray "If not for me, for have one at hand in case I run out of powers and we need it to heal someone real quick"she explains
Lostur ignores the others and stands before the golden gates, staring at them intently. He turns to Lorvax and says, "What do you think home looks like these days? How long have we been away from it? Are we really the last ones standing?" He grips his yklwa tightly and waits, clearly awaiting some sort of command to do something.
Brenvull sits down after handing out all the magic items and says: "I'm sorry Lostur. I think we need an other hour or so before we leave. I want to attune to this cloak, feels like waste to have it and not use it."
After an hour Brenvull stands up gives a last salute to Balorian and joins the others at the gate: "I think this is it. We should go. Ready?" and he starts walking towards the door to place his hand on it.
He turns to Lorvax and says, "What do you think home looks like these days? How long have we been away from it? Are we really the last ones standing?"
Lorvax grunts,"These are questions which will hopefully be answered in the next part of our journey. In truth? I am not sure." He lets out an exasperated growl, "Aaargh! Having so little awareness of our current situation is irksome. But... I fear the worst brother..."
"Are you ready over there, Brenvull?!" Lorvax shouts, attempting to break the awkward silence. "I'd rather not stay in this place too long. Even cowards may grow bold if they feel they can overwhelm us."
As you touch the door you hear the sound of a mechanism within the wall begin to move. A large cloud of dust billows from around the frame and then the door slowly starts to swing inward to reveal the large chamber beyond. A vast marble concourse leads away from you into the darkness and the you know that at the end of this wide passage a T junction will allow you to pass either to the right or left. There were once many passages leading off either side from this concourse but they have all collapsed beneath the ravages of time.
You know that either path could take you to the surface and freedom. The left will lead up to the vast library and then upward to the Twilight Tower; the right will bring you to the great Temple of Bahamut and from there to the open court yards and lush gardens that once were the pride and joy of your master. Countless years have passed however since last you walked these halls and no doubt much will have changed.
Lostur looks to the group, not actually having any preference one way or the other. "Reading... or church. Stuck between a rock and a hard place here, and not a tavern in sight. Just tell me where to go," he grumbles sullenly. Suddenly thinking of something, he pulls out the grey bag of demons. "Hey, somebody else want to try their luck at this?" He offers the bag out, holding it open, like it's some sort of party-favor grab bag.
