Ufeza shakes his head, "Unfortunately there didn't appear to be anything like that. However, the presence of that aura could act as confirmation for us if we were to find it elsewhere. Lightening might work, but I would suggest we take shelter if you try that. I've seen trees and lightning mix before and it can be...violent. While you all work on this, I think I have a few more questions for the Abbott regarding this necromancy. I believe there were murmurs of a resurrecting cat in town and seeing this it's too much of a coincidence."
He then returns inside in search of the Abbott. If Ufeza finds him, he asks, "Sir, we found a necromantic aura around the tree. Have there been any other signs or evidence of dark arts in the area? Any suspicious recoveries or bouts with death?"

This is the first time the Abbot has seen one of these trees or people dying from moving roots. He would gladly give you permission to destroy the tree however you see fit.
Thariv takes a torch, but the fire does nothing to the black three. It does not even manage to burn the small twigs from the branches. The roots continue to aimlessly crawl near the trunk.
Ufeza finds the Abbot kneeling in prayer next to Elantra. The woman's breathing is now completely regular, but a blanket over her prevents the bard from seeing if the roots are still grasping at her. Hearing that a necromantic aura surrounds the tree he stands to reply "nothing of the sort has happened in this temple, dark times are these. I heard people talking about Millie and her cat, but disregarded the rumours as idle gossip. There is another graveyard behind the Temple of Kelemvor. Maybe the Lord of the Dead's priests know more about the subject."
Zephyra will follow Ufeza back to speak with the Abbot again. Hearing of the other Temple and knowing they need to seek those priests right away asks, "Would they welcome outsiders? I'm not familiar with their customs." She asks him.

"I'm certain they would. We may worship different deities, but they are all part of the same Pantheon." Abbot Martellus replies with a smile "tell Lehkrasol that I sent you and she should at least grant you audience."
The Abbot bids you good fortune as he gives Ufeza directions to reach Kelemvor's Temple. "On the western end of the city, you will see a black brick building with brass scales carved over the main door."
"Thank you for the information Abbott. I hope we are able to find a solution soon." She leaves with Ufeza glancing over at him with raised eyebrows, "I can't imagine having any trouble finding that." She raises her hood once more and leaves with the others in the direction of the Temple of Kelemvor. "I've never been in a Temple to the God of the Dead before, I wonder what their services are like?"
Ufeza chuckles along with Blossom, “I can’t imagine their services or temple will feel anything like the one we were just in. I keep hearing mention of a suspicious cat, too. Being the god of the dead, I wonder if Kelemvor’s priests have looked into that.”
Zephyra grins as she sees how that sounded, "You know what services I mean, I don't imagine that they ONLY do final rites." She continues on looking for other examples of the corruption in the area and if it increases as they get closer to the Temple.
Luther remains quiet as they approach the temple of Kelemvor. He'd spent plenty of time in such places, sometimes for his own comrades and sometimes as an honour guard. He'd come to terms with his own mortality but would prefer not to hang around reminders of that fact any longer than absolutely needed.
Finding the Temple of Kelemvor is as easy as Ufeza predicted. The bronze scales carved over the double oaken doors shine as if an acolyte had just finished polishing them. Knocking on the door, a blue scaled dragonborn a couple inches taller than Blossom welcomes you "the rain is no place to wait, come in." She wears smoky gray robes and a silver headband. As soon as the door is closed, she takes a handkerchief out of her pocket to wipe her nose "I hope we get some sun soon."
Hearing that Martellus sent you she introduces herself "Lehkrasol is my name. I'm in charge of this temple and help people ease the burden of sorrow they carry when a loved one passes away. How can I help you on your quest?"
"Yes, thank you for the quick answer Lehkrasol," giving a quick bow of her head and moving in out of the rain to allow the others room. Then speaking with some urgency, she says "We are very much in need of your assistance if you are able. There is a terrible growth of roots coming up in various parts of the town. Its overwhelming bodies of the living and recently deceased to use them for more growth it seems. We haven't been able to determine the cause, but even hacking at these roots and sometimes dead looking trees, results in new growth as early as the next day. The best we can determine so far is that it is some sort of necromantic magic. A child victim of this uttered something, 'you must find it. The Old One can do no more. It is corrupted.' but we don't know what this means." She pauses, then "These are my friends, they wish to help too. Can you help us?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Luther prefers the dry to the wet, but outside is where the work is that he can do; he circles the building and its grounds looking for any sign of the roots, or anything else untoward.
Lehkrasol thinks for a minute, carefully choosing her words "I have not seen any of those corrupted roots that you mention. We have noticed recently that some tombs in our graveyard have been recently disturbed. As if someone was trying to rob them. But that makes almost no sense. We cater to the poor and needed, and they are buried without any possesions of value ."
Turning to Ufeza she adds "we helped young Millie bury her pet just two days ago. The cat died under a merchant's cartwheel and the poor girl was devastated, but left feeling a bit better."
Meanwhile, the graveyard outside the temple is surrounded by a small fence on two sides, the temple on another and extends until it reaches the forest. Luther sees that a few graves have stone markers, but most have only a carved woodpiece instead. The ground around a few graves has been recently disturbed, but the fighter assumes that someone must have died not long ago. Heading back to the temple entrance, he sees a couple humanoid figures standing still in the forest just outside the graveyard limits.
OOC: I'm assuming that Ufeza mentioned the cat rumors to Lehkrasol.

"This temple of Kelemvor definitely sounds like our next stop" says Luther, shouldering his longbow.
Blossom grunts in agreement as he circles round the tree and motions to the others that they should leave.
Ufeza asks directions to the Temple of Kelemvor, then returns outside to wait for the rest of the group.
"I'm certain they would. We may worship different deities, but they are all part of the same Pantheon." Abbot Martellus replies with a smile "tell Lehkrasol that I sent you and she should at least grant you audience."

Thariv snuffs out his torch against the foul tree and carries it so it can cool off as they head to the temple of Kelemvor.
Zephyra grins as she sees how that sounded, "You know what services I mean, I don't imagine that they ONLY do final rites." She continues on looking for other examples of the corruption in the area and if it increases as they get closer to the Temple.

Ufeza nods respectfully to Lehkrasol and awaits her answers, hopeful that the group might find some concrete lead to investigate.

"Or perhaps you'd like to see one of these trees? There is one in the Graveyard of the cemetary of the nearest Temple." She adds.

Ufeza asks, "How often are you seeing graves disturbed? Nightly, or is it sporadic?"
