Question, I was planning on playing a ranger for an upcoming game and I saw that many of my spells have the ritual tag, however as a ranger I can't ritual cast. If I pick up ritual caster as a feat, would it allow me to cast these spells as rituals instead or would it only count for the new ones I get with the feat?
You're always best off taking the wizard version of RC and then seeking out grimoire spellbooks so that you can add lev 1-6 spells to your ritual spellbook.
You would only be able to Ritually cast spells that you've gained from the feat itself.
They wouldn't be able to add ranger specific spells, but if they choose Druid, that would work pretty well.
If you come across a spell in written form, such as a magical spell scroll or a wizard's spellbook, you might be able to add it to your ritual book. The spell must be on the spell list for the class you chose, the spell's level can be no higher than half your level (rounded up), and it must have the ritual tag. The process of copying the spell into your ritual book takes 2 hours per level of the spell, and costs 50 gp per level. The cost represents material components you expend as you experiment with the spell to master it, as well as the fine inks you need to record it.
