I was recently going over some magic items when I read Oil of Sharpness could be applied to a slashing or piercing weapon or 5 pieces of slashing or piercing ammunition.
Does Slashing ammo exist in 5e RAW because I've never seen any and my searches haven't found anything.
My guess is they specified piercing or slashing ammunition less because they anticipated slashing ammunition and more because they wanted to exclude bludgeoning ammunition such as sling bullets while also keeping it consistent with the melee weapon options.
DM's might Homebrew Chakram for their players, which while not ammo, are thrown. Could Gnome up a launcher for flavor, I guess. Future proofed already.

Some things are written to be future proof. I can't think of any slashing ammo now, but it could exist so the authors included it.
