One of the players in my group is the GM's wife. In trying to encourage her to give D&D a try he agreed to let her have what amounts to a vanity pet unicorn. She REALLY wanted a unicorn and that's how he sold her on playing. Everyone is cool with it as it has no in game effect, even if it is maybe a little silly. She's playing a ranger for what it's worth.
I'm playing a bardlock (Ranger is always my first choice, but I wanted to keep the GM's character unique for her to keep her interest) using the homebrew patron The Wild Hunt which has Find Steed on its spell list. My question is: How would I go about gifting the spell to her so she could have a unicorn steed? My thought was something along the lines of a Figurine of Wonder, that is to say an item of some sort infused with the spell. What steps would need to be taken to do that? Or is there a better way to go about it?
A custom figurine of wondrous power (unicorn) would likely be the best way to go about it (I would classify it as a rare item, with 8 hour duration and 2 day cooldown). Perhaps the DM could insert one in the near future for the party to find, or you could use the optional item crafting rules in the DMG to make one yourself. Either way, you'll need to be working with your DM on how to get this to come to pass.
Alternatively, if you don't care about using find steed for yourself, you can ask the DM if it'd be ok if you simply cast the spell but let the other player ride it as a mount (basically casting the spell on her behalf, so she gets all the benefits of it).
How bout whipping up a quest of sorts for her to get her new mount? The 'Find Steed' item being a Horn of the Unicorn, of which she (and the group) needs to reunite/reattach with the unicorn itself! Just an idea. ;)
“It is a better world. A place where we are responsible for our actions, where we can be kind to one another because we want to and because it is the right thing to do instead of being frightened into behaving by the threat of divine punishment.” ― Oramis, Eldest by Christopher Paolini.
Thanks for the replies, all. I'll be looking into creating a custom magic item for sure because I was enjoying the thought of my character having his own magic mount as well. Guess I'll see how it plays out. With as infrequently as we play it'll be a year before I make it happen.

The Find Steed spell stats "Your steed serves you as a mount..." so you could have another mount the animal.
