So right now I'm messing around with this Oathbreaker Hexblade build I'm making and I'm pulling spells from both paladin and warlock classes. To my understanding to cast a Paladin spell I would need a holy symbol of some kind to fulfill the material components if I had them on hand, and to cast a Warlock spell I would need a separate arcane focus to draw from to fulfill the requirements for specifically warlock spells.
For instance, if I wanted to cast bless a V/S/M spell, I would just need to have a holy symbol on hand and I would be good to go. However if I wanted to cast Armor of Agathys, another V/S/M spell, I couldn't do so using the same holy symbol because it is a warlock spell and not a paladin spell.
My question is, what about feats that provide separate spells like fey touched? If I gained something like hex from fey touched, that is neither a warlock spell or a paladin spell, would I need to have materials on hand to cast a spell like that? Or an arcane focus that isn't class specific?
Sorry if my question is hard to read, I hope I was able to articulate what it is I'm asking haha.

Sounds like you are probably going to be a sword and shield build, right?
In that case component pouch wont help since you wont have a hand for it. But if you have improved pact weapon invocation, that lets you use your weapon as a focus for warlock, paladin can already use shields as a focus, so just get war caster feat for somatic component spells and you're set.

What makes you think this? Both paladins and hexblades (assuming pact of blade, but most have that anyways) work pretty well, if not better, with 2 handed weapons. You can change grip on 2 handed weapons without using any sort of action, allowing for somatic (and material w/ component pouch) components to be performed with extreme ease. And sword 'n' board really doesn't support choosing a spell with M components for feats like Magic Initiate or Fey Touched, since those technically don't have any focus; they're component pouch only. Plus the extra War Caster feat you would have to take is annoying, even if it has other great benefits for melee casters.

All true. I made an assumption.
2 handed weapon does make things easier in exchange for some AC. You can still take improved pact weapon invocation to make a 2 handed pact weapon that can be a warlock focus, and paladins can also use holy symbols on their armor as a focus, or just use component pouch like Cyb3r suggested. Doesn't need war caster anymore either.
I know this will sound wild but you also have the option of just having the material components themselves. Should you want to deal with that headache.

It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
I know this will sound wild but you also have the option of just having the material components themselves. Should you want to deal with that headache.
Often overlooked (partly because everybody defaults to the pouch), but absolutely true. This is most likely to be relevant for those spells gained from feats or races that can't use a focus.
Yep, you need a free hand for any (M) component, as it clearly states "A spellcaster must have a hand free to access a spell's material components -- or to hold a spellcasting focus -- but it can be the same hand that he or she uses to perform somatic components." People seem to forget that a pouch doesn't mean 'hands free'
Warcaster only handles (S) Somatic components while holding weapons/shields.
Component Pouch: A component pouch is a small, watertight leather belt pouch that has compartments to hold all the material components and other special items you need to cast your spells, except for those components that have a specific cost (as indicated in a spell's description).
Best to read the whole Material component section to see that one needs a free hand, but the Material/Focus hand can be the same as the one for somatic.

Remember there are Rules as Written (RAW), Rules as Intended (RAI), and Rules as Fun (RAF). There's some great RAW, RAI, and RAF here... please check in with your DM to determine how they want to adjudicate the RAW/RAI/RAF for your game.
I think the question was more about how different spell sources use different foci, or even none at all.

Fair enough! For the spell granted by a feat I would either require my player to pick a focus from a class that can cast said spell... or just wave the focus for that spell (just the innate casting of it) all together as a sorta cool bonus.
