Indeed, a Warlock's Pact Magic feature doesn't interact much with other classes Spellcasting feature. The only interaction is that Pact Slots can be used for anything a Spell Slot is used for and visa versa.
So you Paladin/Warlock had three 1st level Spell Slots that recover on a long rest and one 1st level Pact Slot that recovers on a short rest.
Thanks everyone. That clarified it well. It’s what I thought especially since there is a separate section for pact magic. Spell usage is shared for levels be regaining was confusing.
The player handbook rules seemed a little confusing on the amount of spells with short and long rest was all. Spell counts and usage made sense.
Just a quick question on multiclassing.
4 paladin/1 warlock.
Does a short rest restore all spell slots? Basically they want smite to be used a ton.
A short rest only restores the one spell slot they get from their level of warlock. The paladin slots are only recovered on a long rest.

This is all covered in the Multiclass section of the Basic Rules: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/customization-options#Spellcasting
